  1. The honorary "Athomeboy" thread.
  2. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) Except that this team is scoring at a rate of 5.42 runs per game. Pitching was the reason we lost this game. Vazquez was effectively wild early, but eventually the Yanks got to him. Not one of his better outings, that's for sure. Hawk was spot on tonight. He was afraid of his fastball.
  3. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) Or the absence of radiation. That was my favorite part, not only can the US government stop rogue forces from nuclear attacks on other countries, but we can clean up radiation without anyone knowing or being affected by it. Take that commies!
  4. Happy Birthday Capn
  5. Tex's scary snake story? I almost asked if this thread was safe for work, but then I thought about it, and I figured it would be a shortstory anyway.
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) This warrants debate: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/2008/04/...al_pay_bill.php Are you going to start posting all of the negative McCain stories now, like you have been the Hillary stories? If you are, could you put them in a general election thread, and not here? Thanks.
  7. It must be the complete lack of gun laws in Chicago...
  8. I have already run for local office on my own. If I was approached by someone who was willing and able to give me support for office at a higher level I would definately listen. I probably would say no (and already have to running for the same office I did previously) because of the age of my kids, but in a few years, I would almost definately do it.
  9. QUOTE (NUKE @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) You know what's funny? After all that posturing, and campaigning, and spent money and all the rest, Hillary only made a really small dent in Obama's lead. Honestly, I don't see how she can win the nomination except by hanging on until the convention and then using her connections to totally screw Obama in some back room deal. I think she is trying to screw Obama in this election so she can run and win cleanly in 2012 against McCain.
  10. Early reports are that Obama outspent Clinton something like 3-1 in PA, and STILL lost by almost 10 points.
  11. I know I am not the only one who enjoys some solid whackjob conspiracy... http://rockthetruth.blogspot.com/2008/04/m...shoot-down.html
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) He brought in Dusty Baker though. There's no worse sin in the game of baseball today, especially with as many good young arms as the Reds have. Joe Girardi says HI!
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) Let me ask you a question since you brought up the Blue Jays actions being unethical. There's been a lot of posts on this board how the White Sox must trade Paul Konerko before his 5 and 10 rights kick in, thus giving him the power to determine where he wants to play. Considering Konerko has done far more for the White Sox than Thomas has ever done with the Blue Jays, wouldn't it be unethical to trade him to a team he doesn't want to be with just days before those rights vest, or does good business or good baseball sense only apply to the White Sox? I asked the same basic question in the Bench Konerko thread, and no one really had an answer there either...
  14. Thanks to Hillary putting chinks in the Obama armor, this is the kind of stuff that McCain will be able to fry Obama on in the issues part of the race. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120847505709424727.html

  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) I don't really blame American politicians for that although people do tend to credit and blame the president for things regardless. IMO that was just the Japanese industries beating American industries fair and square. They did what we were trying to do better than we were doing it. Personally I don't either, but then why is GWB villified for manufacturing job losses during the last 7 years? I'd at least like to see some consistancy.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) I think the main reasons why western and plains states seem to favor Obama heavily is two-fold. One, I think people in those parts of the country tend to have less tolerance for politics as a game. The midwest, south and northeast enjoy the heck out of that game. Obama is, in my view, much more consistent and direct than Hillary, and doesn't peddle and change personalities as often as she does. So, they favor Obama. Secondly, and maybe even more important, their memories of the Clinton years are far less rosy than in other areas. If you look at the plains states, and much of the mountain west, they didn't experience as much of the huge economic boost of those years. In fact, their core industries - agriculture, mining, etc. - suffered quite a bit. So they just don't feel very strongly about having another Clinton in the White House. I've never really understood why the midwest likes the Clinton's much either. Most of their core industries went downhill during his time in office, such as steel and automotive.
  18. Mreye responding to the thread about the top infrastructure places to avoid in the USA. QUOTE (mreye @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) No Wrigley Field?
  19. QUOTE (mreye @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) No Wrigley Field? POTY!!! :

  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:46 AM) Hillary Clitnon was caught conducting insider trading of cattle futures, but was not caught until the statute of limitations was up. The Clintons would not release their taxes from the late 70s/early 80. It wasnt until they were forced to release them that it was found. I wouldn't call it insider trading BY her. I would call it bucketing trades on her behalf. There is a difference, but both are just as illegal.
  22. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) Rolling Rock did the same thing. I used to love that beer, then it sucked. Dont they both come from the Latrobe brewery? Rolling Rock gets skunky really easily for some reason. I am really cautious about buying it because the batches seem to vary so much.
  23. QUOTE (NUKE @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:26 AM) LOL! A buddy of mine drinks that crap and we make fun of him all the damn time Gotta love the 5.5% alcohol... if you are going to drink crap, the less of it the better!
  24. As I said from day one, enjoy every day of it, because it might not last... Sox - Twins 2 Royals 2.5 Indians 3.5 Tigers 4.0
  25. If nothing else I was happy to see the Sox approach at the plate looking WAY better last night against Wang, than it ever has before. They really got his pitch count up, but just couldn't deliver the knockout punch early. The other nice thing was that Contreras really turned it around after a bad couple of early innings.
