  1. I was at a bench clearing brawl in Cleveland involving the Sox and Albert Belle. I can't remember when it was now... The 2000 brawl and the Nolan Ryan vs Robin Ventura fight was the best.
  2. Soxtalk PM's for the fix up!

  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) Our low temp last night was above 70. And yes, the appropriate response to my post is: More accurately my COLD foot in your ass!
  5. He got the gigantic pay raise he wanted, I am sure. In reality THAT is what matters to him.
  6. My personal favorite of my lifetime is Reagans speech after the Space Shuttle Challenge explosion. It was the perfect speech at that moment in time.
  7. The Soxtalk/WSI softball game/patio party last year... It was supposed to be my daughters first game, and Kap and his wife flew in from Texas for it... ugh.
  8. The episode was just classic. It was one of the funniest ones of all time outside of the Christmas episodes.
  9. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) The Fur comes from my side of the family...he takes after his mom. Well that certianly explains the DUI arrest He's a handsome young man, you did well
  10. Yesterday made 172 days since Chicago recorded a high temp of 70 degrees or higher... The all-time record is 184. The average distance between 70 degree days over the winter is 145 days.
  11. Well we had at least one more day on top... We'll see what the Royals do...
  12. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) My dog just walked into my office, farted, and walked out. I can't believe you let your wife get away with that crap!
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 12:04 PM) The big benefit of having Gload on our roster when we did have him was that he was the only guy we ever seemed to carry who was a legit backup 1b who could give Konerko extra rest or extra days at DH. The difference now is...if we ever use it, we have the ability to do that anyway with Swisher, who can play some 1b as well as the OF. In other words, Gload's role is now covered. Especially since Ozzie seems pretty determined to keep his main guys in there right now every day (See my sig) Gload would be even less useful than BA. Exactly. Having the true CF, and a defensive wiz who can play all three OF positions is more important, because we have at least 3 guys on the roster now who can play 1B if you include Thome.
  14. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 11:53 AM) Would you rather have Gload or BA on the roster?? With the way our roster is made up today, Anderson.
  15. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 11:13 AM) Because we're a bunch of idiots who care more about watching American Idol than voting in our elections. Sad, but I agree with you 200%
  16. QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) As I was reading your post, I'm wondering if perhaps we are in a period of some people forgetting and needing to remember? Many of the people involved are dead, and many more will be over the next few years. I could see at some point in the future where Robinson is relegated to a smaller remembrance each year. This is about a human need, and just like 9/11 Vigils have gotten smaller and smaller, so too are ones to people like Ruth. Reading some of the responses, I believe some people think we are already there. Just an incomplete thought and another log on the fire . . . How many people hold rememberences on Pearl Harbor Day? We as a country do ourselves such a disservice by not understanding where we came from, and avoiding those same pitfalls.
  17. Under $1000 would be nice, less would be even better...
  18. While we are asking questions, anyone want to recommend a solid laptop for someone who needs to run a bunch of streaming programs for trading, without it having a crazy price tag?
  19. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 08:18 AM) I'm not prepared in the least. In fact, I'm outright scared out of my mind. Cute pics Mike. How did Maddy handle the new one? Surprisingly well actually. We were really worried, because she was the first grandkid for both sides of the family, and frankly pretty fond of the attention that status brought her. We really tried to include her into things, but also not to force her to do anything. It took a while before she wanted to participate, but now she has really warmed up to her sister. There is still some jealous streaks, but in general, she gives us more problems with typical two year old stuff, than she does to do with her sister.

  21. http://boringtheworld.blogspot.com/2008/04...y-together.html Hey Ribbie, I guess that answers my question on if they are "born that way" or not!
  22. After reading this thread and shaking my head many different times, I just want to add the following historical quote. "Those who do not learn from their history are doomed to repeat it."
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) Not trying to open up Pandora's Box or anything, but anyone else thinking it could be Alexei getting sent down to work on hitting breakers when it's time for Richar to come up and not Ando? I really hope so... He really needs a lot of ABs just seeing junk pitches.
  24. Well that explains a lot of his problems... That's too bad. I really wanted to see this kid rebuilt and succeed. Its sad but being a Rule V draft pick might have actually ruined his career. I think if he stays in the minors, gets his innings, masters his release point, gets his repititions etc, he really develops into a tough starter. The kid just never got any consistancy, because he was bouncing around the bullpens instead.
