  1. Good for Carter. I am glad to see someone else standing up for these people. The UN sure didn't care that much, that supposedly being the reason for their exsistance and all. Fight the good fight, Jimmy.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) That will undoubtedly help them, but to say that 21/22 mpg is "impressive" is like a bad joke. The average non-hybrid car does better than that. For those gigantic SUVs it is impressive.
  3. Yeah, pretty much everyone screwed the pooch on this one. The Gary police really messed up, but the boy sure didn't help. This has been big news in The Region.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Romney though can still match and beat everyone else's fundraising without trying, by tapping his own bank accounts. For reference sake, the median income in the United States in 2005 was $46,326
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) Speaking of Huckabee, it seems there's a reason why they weren't releasing their financial numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if Kucinich beat him. Too bad. Huckabee is done for. The Fred Thompson entry came at the exact wrong time for him.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) Obama is smart. Not sure why the other candidates didn't use this tactic. They use third parties for their products. From his website: I'm not even saying it is a bad idea, but it just gives the numbers some perspective. It is equating the guy who gives $2300 to the guy who spends $5 on a bumpersticker.
  7. The re-run where Perry and Jack were dressed alike for pictures was on the other day. Damn is that a great episode.
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) Needs a bigger stick!
  9. Give me Uribe. With this pitching staff, I will always choose defense.
  10. It has begun. I figured Luis was on his way out after they just completely quit playing him and talking about him. I am not sure what they didn't like about him, but something rubbed someone the wrong way. I am also glad to see Reynoso finally off of the 40 man roster. I honestly can't wait until after the Series is over so we can see what happens to the Sox this off season.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) IN general, for the past 6 months or so, I've been averaging 13.5 hours from the time I leave the apartment in the morning to the time I come back in at night. That is pretty close to what I do. I leave the house at 4:45 am and get back at about 6 pm.
  12. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) seriously, if I could spend my time doing what I loved instead of working...life would be great. Unfortunately hippie beating is only legal if you work for the Chicago PD.
  13. That is hilarious!
  14. The big problem I have with signing Jones to a big deal is that he already has had people questioning his heart and dedication before. If you give this guy the final huge contract of his career, will he continue to play hard? Somehow I doubt it.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 12:36 PM) Rowand - 30% Owens - 30% Hunter - 20% Jones - 8% Cameron - 7% Patterson - 4% Erstad - 1% And there will be no discounts. I would put Owens at closer to even money, but I like the list. It seems realistic.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) Official Ron Paul numbers nearly equal to McCain's fundraising: Paul is really sneaking into this thing. The longer people stay distracted with everything else going on, he continues to creep up on people. He seems to have the most passionate following around. I doubt it will be enough though. All though this guy is a New Hampshire surprise away from breaking out.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) Agreed on the defense. The one thing I like is the added speed that Richar brings and the possibility that he can replicate Gooch's power numbers. However Gooch has been hitting .300 with Philly and has shown that he is most valuable in the 2 hole, something that we really need. My honest opinion is that Richar projects to be a #2 hitter at the major league level. The guy already likes to see as many pitches as possible in an AB. He also doesn't seem to strike out too much for the power numbers he puts up. I think his future is in that spot of the line up.
  18. Also interesting to note, Illinois could be losing some national influence because of illegals... http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Top_News/2007...nal_seats/6221/
  19. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) I was.... how could something so wrong feel so Wright..... *cue rimshot* I have said it before, and I will say it again. Soxtalk has a fever, and the only perscription is more Murcie!
  20. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) I haven't added to my two collections recently. Check out my balls and bobbleheads. [snickers]
  21. We should just annex Mexico, maybe even Central America. We are pretty much expected to be their welfare system anyway, we might as well collect some taxes while we are at it.
  22. Some interesting things in here on how those numbers you hear are spun. For instance I didn't know that every person who even buys a bumper sticker from a campaign is considered a "donor". http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thegaggle/a...r-bankbook.aspx
  23. There is some good stuff in there... They really look at a lot of players.
  24. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) The maximum amount that any one person can donate to a campaign should be the maximum amount the candidate can donate to a campaign. Romney hasn't raised that much more than McCain for example. Yet he leads the money race, because he's sinking 100 million dollars of his money into the race. I have been thinking long and hard about this one... I almost would rather see a candidate spending his own money, versus other people's money, and here is why. Influence. People expect things for their money. If I go out and bundle a million dollars for a candidate, I am going to expect some favor. Don't tell me it doesn't happen, because we all know it does. If a person goes out and spends $20 million of his own money, who does he owe influence to? No one. I have mixed feelings on it, but I hate the current system we have, so that is no surprise.
  25. So no posts about the deaths in Iraq being at its lowest level since July06 for both troops and civilians? I was wondering if anyone would post it, so I waited a day out of curiousity... Then I figured I would go ahead and mention it.
