QUOTE(Cknolls @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 10:44 AM) The curve has actually steepened since the cuts. Are you honestly trying to tell me that people are going to be willing to accept lower interest rates for a currency that is rapidly depreciating in value, over any reasonable amount of time?

Cop Gets Job Back After Sex in Patrol Car
Hey if Bill gets to do his job of Middle East peace while getting someone slobbering on his nob, can you really hate on a cop for needing a little love?

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Which sites do you recommend? I can't find this information on Yahoo or Google Finance, Morningstar does chart EPS, but only annual data. Lots of stock trading companies have the information on their sites. You can register for a practice account on most of them.

That is a huge drop off... Would the HGH question be appropriate here?

Wicked was pretty decent for a musical.

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) Cubs are 10 games over, how is that "barely .500"They were just like 3 or 4 games over and got hot against Pittsurgh and Cincy. I guess I just don't follw them as closely as you do.

Films Thread
So in recognition of the Family Secrets trial, I went back and watched Casino again. Damn that was an exellent movie, and an incredible cast. I also saw Da Vinci Code over the weekend and gave it a meh. Holy Blood, Holy Grail was much more interesting.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) We have no idea what their payroll will be. Do you think they can afford $150 million?

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) I get the book every year, and in their team write ups they make a prediction on the upcoming season. 2005 I think the quote was "the window has closed". They really liked their chances last season, and this year said they weren't going to win anything. A lot of their staff is in Chicago, so I think the White Sox and Cubs get scrutinized a little more by them, but all in all for the other teams, they have a pretty good track record. BTW, they didn't think the Cubs would be .500 this season. The sad thing is that the Cubs barely are .500, and probably wouldn't be if they didn't play in the house of horrors that is the NL Central.

They don't have nearly the money to afford another $30 million a year on that backloaded payroll that they have.

Bp also picked us for 4th place in 2005. Take it for what it is worth.

Sox/Twins 9-23
I was impressed with Floyd today up until the 6th. Even in the 6th I was happy to see him hitting 92-93 out of the stretch. Once again, he so reminds me of the old Jon Garland it wasn't even funny. He'd get into a small jam and find a way to turn it into a big inning. I was also glad to see Ozzie give him a chance to pitch out of it. The only way he is going to learn is by taking his lumps, and I would rather see him take them now in meaningless games.

Tip of the Cap to the Pirates
The Pirates seem to be able to find young talented players through the draft and trades. If they started using the Indians method of signing them long term/cheap while they were young, they could win the s***ty NL Central.

Jeremy Bonderman
Or maybe a hangover from pitching deep into the offseason last year? Hmm...
-
Javy Vazquez...
Javy has been our most consistant starter this year. It has been nice to see him live up to the salary he is getting.

Don't look now, but Floyd is hitting 95 with his fastball, and looking tough again...

GOP Primaries/Candidates thread
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) No. He was once quoted at saying in a very indirect way that 9/11 was partially caused by factors in the Middle East that included western interference. And he was right. I find him to be more like a true, old school Republican than many other candidates, because he isn't some hyper-conservative crusader looking to make government just small enough to fit into everyone's personal lives. Paul is more interested in smaller, more efficient government. I have a lot of respect for that. Ron Paul is a RINO. He is a libertarian if I ever saw one.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) Is there any website that provides quarterly earnings in chart/graph format? Maybe. You can find most companies on stock trading sites. If you are looking for something specific I can help you out. I have access to some good stuff.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 05:51 PM) Sisco has options, IIRC. Cool. I hope so. I really want to see him get his innings as a starter. In the long run he will be a better pitcher for it. You just can't teach the arm that he has.

White Sox Winner
I don't know if it got mentioned in the game thread or not, but that was as bad as I ever remember seeing Johan pitch. He was sitting 90-91 on his fastball, topping out at 92. The thing that was really bad was his change up. It had no bite to it like it usually does, and it wasn't in the usual 76-79 range, it was always at least 81, and I saw it as high as 84. I don't know if he is having problems or what, but I can see how he was beatable this year.

QUOTE(NUKE @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 02:06 AM) The President has very little to do with the rate of exchange our dollar fetches on the open market. Currency traders do. The President does when he appoints a Federal Reserve Director who he knows is going to push down bond rates at a time when our currency is already under pressure.

What no Fred Thompson is a big fat idiot, or other bad GOP news? Anyway, it would be nice if the world would help protect Israel, but I am not about to hold my breath. There is too much anti-semitism in Europe for this to actually happen.
