I might well be crazy here, but the timing of Dallas falling completely apart just screams the tacky baseball stuff affected him greatly. I can't help but read something like this and wonder if this alone could fix a lot of his issues.

I mean here's the thing. As humans we should be striving to be better. If you are acting the same way you did 13 years ago, saying the same things you did 13 years ago, and thinking the same way you did 13 years ago... especially coming from being a teen or young adult, you aren't growing. I could get extreme with my examples, but let's just say there are plenty of dumb things I did in my past. But today I am trying to be better.

Weren't you the one just ranting about how if you counted on regularly injured players and didn't have starting caliber back ups that it was your own fault? Because this that exactly. Madrigal has played around 1/3 of Sox games for the last two seasons.

2B became a hole when the guy who was supposed to play turned out to be perpetually injured.

He's exactly right. You grab on to the black or white version of a story, ignore all of the gray, and then eventually throw a fit in frustration. It's what you do here.

I think this off season will really answer the question of who is in charge of personell right now. I think it might be an interesting exercise to focus on people that Tony has run across in his various baseball stops in recent years. We know his time in Saint Louis, but don't forget about his stops in Arizona and Anaheim's front offices in recent years. With that in mind, I think a name like Ketel Marte might take on extra meaning. Maybe we see Eduardo Escobar. Then again on the other side of the coin, maybe Tony is the reason we DIDN'T see Escobar. Another name is David Perralta. It is a bit tougher to see matches with Anaheim right now, but they need pitching badly, and I have to imagine we are going to look to deal Dallas after the way his season ended. Is there a money for money trade to be made for an OF?

I would have been a lot more upset about losing Nick if he could stay on the playing field. It does us no good to have Madrigal if you get 50 games from him and 100 from someone like Danny Mendick.

It's hard to taint what they did, but on the other hand this really does ruin the next 10 years for me.

It sounds a lot like they didn't think to investigate if someone else owned the name, and if they did, that they didn't really care enough to make sure they had it before they did this announcement.
