  1. Definitely. He's been a guy you don't feel bad about running out there. He's never going to be a defensive star because of physical limitations, but he is also not going to hurt you or scare you out there. With the bat he is going to have, league average is freaking great for the White Sox.
  2. There was even video of him limping around at a kids event.
  3. This exactly. Fangraphs had Vaughn right in the middle of the pack defensively as well. There is no evidence that he "bad" out there.
  4. You never know. Eloy could be hit 7th so as to "ease him in".
  5. It doesn't make any sense at all. Like I said, it is irrational, but this team has been eerily quiet. Even the professional rumor makers are staying extremely vague.
  6. If Vaughn should be a 1b\DH only, Eloy should never get out of bed, let alone on a baseball field.
  7. That's what weird for me. I guess maybe with all of the OFs they have, they figure Leury won't be out there often. But that still leaves either Leury or Mendick as the only IF back up, and that is because the other one will be playing 2nd.
  8. Surprised to see Jake go, but glad to see he will get to play more often again.
  9. Kenny Williams has to be loving this trade deadline as literally NO ONE is out there talking about White Sox business. Part of me is amazed they haven't leaked out there by the opposite side team of potential deals, but the longer we stay quiet, the more irrationally scared I am getting that we are going to call Robert, Eloy, and Grandal our deadline deals.
  10. The guy previously couldn't win a roster spot with the Pittsburgh Pirates for crying out loud. He was the 6th OF with the Sox, and only because they literally lost their top 4 OFs did he get to play here. He has no trade value at all, as all of baseball could have had him after the Pirates cut him. He's a league average hitter over his time in MLB and has been a negative defender in all but one year he has been on a major league roster. He's got negatives across the board in his defense metrics over his career (range, arm, errors). Career he is a 103 OPS against RHP, so we aren't even talking about some big platoon advantage here. It's just he doesn't suck against them. He is the definition of a scrub.
  11. The ones who are blocked and on the 40 man roster, or out of options.
  12. I would bet on an OF going down, out, or to the IL. That seems straight forward.
  13. You can go year by year and get a hitter just as good as Hosmer to play 1B.
  14. In a one month span Andrew Vaughn has moved from a 38 OPS+ against RHP to an 88 OPS+.
  15. Will be interesting to see today's roster move. They do have the extra 40 man spot, so I don't think we see a DFA, but Hamilton to the IL is my guess, though I thought how little Engel has played has been weird. I guess the other thing I will note is that the Sox tend to overplay guys right before they DFA them, so maybe Goodwin is going?
  16. Unless they package up a top level guy, who even needs a guy like Hosmer?
  17. The Cubs aren't going to take less for him. The price is going to be as a two season pitcher.
  18. Kimbrel? You do realize that we are either getting him as a rental, or we'd be paying two relievers alone $30 million next year?
