Sporting News Sox Preview
Wow, this guy really knows his stuff. He's got the projected lineup down.

I agree with your top priorities. The Bulls need to sign a true center to move Chandler back to PF. They should also try to trade Gordon + draft pick(s) for a good SG. I still like Sweetney's potential if he works on his conditioning this upcoming offseason.

Minaya and Mets seeking Contreras
Contreras won 13 games with a 5.50 ERA in 2004. Predicting him to win 15 games in 2005 wasn't really that big of a stretch.

Minaya and Mets seeking Contreras
In 2004, Contreras gave up less hits (166) than IP (170.1) but he still issued a ton of walks (84) for a 1.47 WHIP on the season. If he keeps his walks down like he did last season (75 BB in 204.2 IP), I will believe that he's the real deal. But he's still very old so he may not keep up this level of performance anyways.

Jeez, I guess he was compared to Jack McDowell for a reason. His height to weight ratio is just as insane... Jack McDowell: 6'5", 180 pounds Brandon McCarthy: 6'7", 190 pounds

Yankees' run support will tend to help a pitcher's record. He wen't 13-9 overall in 2004 with a whopping 5.50 ERA.

Randy Johnson was never really skinny. He was solid and muscular. McCarthy is just tall and skinny.

How about that donut machine that perpetually pushes donuts into Homer's mouth in the Simpsons. Man, he really needs to gain some weight.

Piazza likely to the Padres
Good question. Piazza must really want to play defense for some reason even though he shouldn't because he sucks. Surely some A.L. team would have offered him that contract to be their full-time DH.

I'd rather add a true center and make Chandler the PF.- Podsednik had 2 hernias last season
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=1&cset=true- Crede to bat 9th if Anderson wins CF job
And we all know that Ozzie makes dee f***eeng lineup.- Crede to bat 9th if Anderson wins CF job
You may have figured it out if Ozzie really looks at these stats... Joe Crede (2005 stats Batting 9th) 102 AB .333 AVG .395 OBP .667 SLG 1.061 OPS 9 HR 22 RBI 10 BB 12 K Small sample size but jeezus.- A Philly-Mets fight for Contreras?
I don't think Toronto needs another starter... Roy Halladay A.J. Burnett Gustavo Chacin Josh Towers Ted Lilly Dustin McGowan- Timo to the Twinkies?
- Shingo may rejoin Yakult Swallows
http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/sports/20060127TDY24004.htm Wasn't there a poster here that was really pissed when we let Shingo go? And has any pitcher fizzled out as quickly as Shingo after a great season?- WSCR 670 reporting Podsednik in CF, Anderson in LF
No surprise here. I seem to remember The Score reporting last year that Podsednik would play CF and Rowand would play LF.- WSCR 670 reporting Podsednik in CF, Anderson in LF
WSCR 670 The Score is reporting that Podsednik will play CF and Anderson will play LF. The update also had a quote from Anderson saying that the team needed to work hard to replace Rowand. This sounds like the same crap that happened last year regarding what positions Podsednik and Rowand would play. I doubt it happens. It sounds like The Score screwed up to me.- Adam Dunn is a stud
- Crede to bat 9th if Anderson wins CF job
Anderson may get on base more than Crede and Crede has more power. So Crede can drive in the speedier Anderson. That's my only guess as to what Ozzie is thinking. - Minaya and Mets seeking Contreras
