  1. Bob Nightengale of USAToday.com reported that it is $8 million. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reported that it is $5 million. Now, an Arizona paper is reporting that it is $3 million? Hmmm...
  2. I just looked at Mora again and realized this. He will be 34 years old to start next season and he's only under contract for 2006 at $4 million. And wow, Julio sure got sucky since 2002. If Tejada isn't realistic, I'd rather get Blalock and pitching prospect(s) for Garland and Crede.
  3. Wow, I completely forgot about Mora and the fact that they have been looking to deal Julio for awhile. Mora could play third base for us and would make an excellent #2 hitter. He's also Venezuelan, just like Ozzie. Hmmm...
  4. I doubt KW will wait until Contreras signs an extension to trade Garland. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=132181 If KW is confident that Contreras wants to stay in Chicago, he will move Garland to improve our team for 2006. Contreras seems to settle down and get comfortable wherever he is and doesn't want to leave. Originally, he didn't want to leave New York if you recall. But Steinbrenner probably threatened to ship him back to Cuba if he didn't waive his no-trade clause.
  5. Garland & Crede for Blalock & pitching prospect(s) is the most likely move, IMO.
  6. The difference between us trading for Garcia and the Rangers trading for Garland is that the Sox knew that they would be able to sign Freddy to a contract extension due to the Ozzie/Garcia connection. The Rangers would have no such insurance in trading for Garland. He would probably still test free agency and look to sign with a west coast team.
  7. Mike Cameron, yes. Chris Singleton, no. The Giants drafted Singleton and traded him to the Yankees. Then, we got Singleton from the Yankees in a trade. Singleton was awesome in 1999 but pretty much stunk ever since.
  8. Seems like a pretty good comparison if you look at Chris Young's minor league stats and Eric Davis' major league numbers. They both play great defense, hit homers, don't hit for too high of an average but still get on base, and strike out a lot. But obviously, Young has to show that he can do it in the majors.
  9. KW will trade whomever sounds like they want to test free agency, which is Garland. It sounds like Contreras is willing to accept a decent deal with us... http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=132181
  10. Haha, so true. Hawk seems to think Matt Stairs is Albert Pujols. But Stairs used to absolutely murder us when he was with the A's. That's what Hawk is remembering.
  11. "I tell you what DJ, Blalock is one good looking young stud."
  12. I read that about Diamond and how they passed up Drew and Weaver for him. I wasn't sure about Danks though.
  13. I agree. I think our two best options are: Garland, Uribe, & prospect(s) FOR Miguel Tejada OR Garland & Crede FOR Hank Blalock & pitching prospect(s)
  14. Haha, on ESPN 1000 some caller is whining about how the Sox are making themselves too much like the Yankees with all these trades.
  15. I believe John Danks is the prospect who is a Boras client. I'm not positive though. Thomas Diamond isn't so he would have to be the pitching prospect we would get in a trade with Texas.
  16. Magglio Ordonez Carlos Lee Joe Crede (somewhat)
  17. Garland and Crede for Blalock and a pitching prospect makes the most sense. We would lose Garland after 2006 anyways and you know KW and Reinsdorf want to get rid of their last remaining Boras client. Blalock would be under an inexpensive deal for 3 or 4 years. Bruce Levine on ESPN 1000 right now. He still thinks both the Cubs and the Sox are in the hunt for Miguel Tejada. He says either Garland or Contreras will definately be traded. Levine is saying that neither Cubs or Sox officials would talk to him about Tejada, meaning something is probably up. He is saying that Orioles officials still say Tejada wants to leave and they want a blockbuster package for him.
  18. I believe Wilkerson will be a free agent after 2006 and is also a Boras client. Not gonna happen.
  19. Yeah, we are talking about it in the other Garland thread. The Rangers also have a couple highly rated starting pitching prospects in John Danks and Thomas Diamond. They could include one of those two guys.
  20. You have to factor in that Garland will only be under their control for one season and Crede will be a free agent soon after. Blalock has a cheap 3-year contract with a 4th year option.
  21. Rangers get: Jon Garland Joe Crede White Sox get: Hank Blalock John Danks OR Thomas Diamond
  22. Blalock has a really nice contract as well: 2006: $3.00 million 2007: $4.75 million 2008: $5.95 million 2009: $6.20 million option; $250,000 buyout
