Well, the difference this spring is that Jenks supposedly lifted too many weights over the offseason and now his arm is tightened up instead of being loose. This may be one of the reasons that his velocity is down.

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...ex.jsp?c_id=cws MORE SIGHTS AND SOUNDS • Dustin Hermanson on his spring: 350K • Widger on George Mason, Final Four: 350K • Scott Podsednik on his injury: 350K Widge is so cool. Hermanson. The sad thing is that Hermanson wasn't lying -- he looked like he was in damn good shape from the video.

I like Ozzie's role for him. It's a small, low pressure role that will put Logan in the position to succeed... http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=171647

IlliniKrush posted this in the "2006 MLB Catch-All Thread." I think it needs some more exposure...

Ortiz had an .839 OPS, 20 HR, 75 RBI season with the Twins before the Red Sox picked him up. Choi had a good season in 2004 but still has massive holes in his swing and can't hit lefties worth a damn. Ortiz can still hit lefties a bit. I just don't see Choi becoming the hitter that Ortiz is today. I see Choi as a good platoon first baseman at best. If he does become the next Ortiz, I will be shocked and amazed. I just don't see it.

Baj still in contention for Dbacks spot

I was doing my best to sugarcoat it. -
Jeez, the Dodgers are really stupid then. Why the heck didn't they just send Hee-Seop Choi down to AAA, let him raise his trade value there, and use him as tradebait at the deadline? I can see why the Red Sox picked him up though. They haven't had much power from the 1B position in sometime and neither Youkilis nor Snow have much, if any. Choi at least has some power potential.
-
Tavarez has been a classless douche for years (see the link that was already mentioned). There's no refuting it. He also cheated in his time with the Cardinals (pine tar on his cap). Both Cubs and Cardinals fans hate the guy. He's a good reliever but that doesn't make him any less of a douchebag.

It looks like he's going to... http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ne...t=.jsp&c_id=tex

So I guess if Willie can show that he's at least competent defensively in CF he could be the fifth outfielder. By the way, what the hell are the Red Sox going to do with the Hee-Seop Choi / J.T. Snow / Kevin Youkilis situation? Mike Lowell will be starting at 3B right? I know that Youkilis can also play 3B but that's two lefty first basemen with Lowell at 3B. Either Choi or Snow needs to hit the road somehow. Does Choi still have any options left or will he have to clear waivers again for the Red Sox to send him to AAA?
-
I saw that Willie was playing some CF. If he is also learning how to play SS, he would actually have some value off the bench. I still don't see him getting a roster spot with Alex Cora and Adam Stern / Dustan Mohr around. Although I heard that Dustan Mohr might be traded soon.
-
They actually sell Sox gear as well. They just have a crappy selection though. http://www.wrigleyvillesport.com/soxlanding.htm

Let the "Lovable Losers" help pay the site's bills.

Speaking of Rogowski, if he has any trade value I hope KW deals him. RockRaines has mentioned this before -- it's quite obvious that this dude will never see the field with the White Sox as long as Konerko, Thome, and Gload are here. Hell, even Mackowiak and Ozuna can play some 1B. Get something for Rogowski (hopefully a reliever) and let him get a better opportunity with another club.
-
The problem with Podsednik and his groin is that the entire nature of his game is what would aggravate it further. He runs hard and fast at 100% all the time.
-
Agreed, Eischen has been damn good since 2001. He's even cheap at $1.3 million for 2006. Just goes to show how stupid Bowden is. He loses his top setup man Luis Ayala for the season and is now looking to trade one of his better relievers? WTF? So stupid. I think we could use a right-handed vet more than a lefty though. Javier Lopez isn't a stud or anything but he could be a decent LOOGY insurance plan at Charlotte. At least I hope so...

Agreed, they did serve up a lot of fluff and fanboy love for us but I believe that was before they knew Hermanson was headed for the DL (they actually mentioned Hermanson as a reason our bullpen was so strong).
