QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) When someone tries to push legislation to allow someone to legally MURDER my pet, I feel that I have the right to call that person an "idiot backwood hick." Perhaps you feel that you're "above" that. But I already know that you're not a better person than I, so I don't really give a rat's ass about what you think. :finger Again, this isn't about your pet. It's about strays! And what the f*** is "...you're not a better person than I..." mean? Where did this come from?

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) This is how... Only a brain-dead hick would push for such legislation. "Domestic" cat doesn't mean some kid's pet. Apparently there's a population problem and they're pushing this as a solution. (I'm not saying it's the correct one) I just think calling these people "idiot backwoods hicks) and "brain dead hicks" isn't cool. I must be in the minority here, so go ahead and be that way. I guess there's a double standard when it comes to some things.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 07:37 AM) What he said. Excel is your friend, learn to love it! (I practically live in a spreadsheet all day at my job.) Me too. I'm self taught. Learning is fun!

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) No, these are just idiot backwood hicks who want the authority to take target practice at anything that's below them on the food chain. They're Beavis and Butthead with voter registration cards. And you know this how? Be careful with that broad brush!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) To be honest, I cannot hear a difference between their, there, and they're. They all sound the same to me. But as far as this grammar and correct word usage stuff, it may come across as being picky to some of you, but it is actually sound advice. Misusing these words becomes a habit that your mind does not catch when proofreading your own text. If you regularly use there in place of their, you're not going to catch it as you reread. That can lead to mistakes in resumes, class assignments, documentation, whatever. You are also coming across in this forum as either somewhat less than educated or, at best, sloppy. It's always preferable to put your best forward and to always try and live up that standard. That also becomes habit, and one that will pay off in the long run. In addition to they're, there and their ... here are a few more examples of words that are commonly interchanged. our and are then and than whether and weather waist and waste your and you're I have seen (scene?) these type of mistakes in write(right?) ups on FutureSox and Chicago Sports Report. These are reports that people put a lot of time and effort into, and try to do a very thorough job, and yet they miss these simple grammatical errors because they regularly misuse these words. It really does make a difference. Editted to add: I just saw another one somewhere on the board (bored?). aloud and allowed Great post! P.S. That was me (aloud) - Oops!

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 07:17 AM) Just like the kids who draw pictures of wiping out their classmates...Dam I just wish people wouldn't interfere with peoples freedoms. Yeah, how dare they? :headshake

If people would follow Bob Barker's advice ("Help control the pet population - Have your pet spayed or nuetered.") then a proposal like this wouldn't be necessary.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Here's some useless trivia for you guys -- DJ (not Darrin Jackson) is married to Valeri Bure... http://imdb.com/name/nm0121026/bio I said that. It's Pavel Bure!
-
DJ got hot! She was married to Pavel Bure, wasn't she?
-
Oh man! I read that 5 minutes ago and I'm still laughing. My stomach hurts!

FWIW, I really hate the grammar mistakes. Some small ones are OK and understandable, but sometimes it's hard to read and comprehend. JMO.

QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) I'm talking about a statistic not a rule change. But I guess this is to complex for you. They get a "hold" now. That's a statistic.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Well, i guess I LACK VISION.....hahahah fine if were changing rules how about we add a line of red seats in the outfield and make it the "double" homerun mark.....how fun would baseball when you could double the runs of a homerun...... QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) This doesn't surprise me at all. I tend to vote Republican more often than not, but I'll NEVER vote for Lugar. He's a complete momotard. Dare I say that I even respect Kerry more than Lugar's dumb ass. Wow! I've met him too and I respectfullt disagree with this. I think he, more than most in DC, seems to genuinely care about people back home.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) So what is your point? There are rules for saves already in place as well. You want to change those rules so someone else sarcastically suggested that we change the rules for wins. This is a bunch of nonsense. Thank you. Cheat, you beat me to the "hold."
-
So, on the same thought Garcia should have only gotten 8/9 of a win yesterday?
-
You're crazy. And, BTW, Shingo pitched the full inning in the first game.
-
I think if he keeps it up he is going to win every game.
