QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) Ah, Heads pointed that out to me and I approved the designation on the spot, natch. Don't we need a third party approval?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) Not true. I'm just learning to get along with the chirping crickets when news like this breaks and the country gives a collective shrug. Kinda like when your group name was changed to "Dr. of Love"??

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) Here's my question: Why does anyone listen to these irritating shock jocks to begin with? I don't get it. I just don't see the appeal of listening to a bunch of hateful adolescents insulting everyone and everything. Didn't you see "Private Parts"? There's a line in there from the station manager about Stern's listeners: Something like: "40% love him because they want to see what he's going to do next. 50% hate him and continue to listen because they want to see what he's going to do next."

Nobody cared the first time this was posted.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Maybe because the GOP likes to gloat a lot. I don't see that so much from the Dems when they are in the White House or Congress. Certainly though, its easier to laugh about it when you control the white house and both congressional bodies. Huh? I think the Bush/Monkey pictures are funny.

I heard something about this that I never knew. They said the Red Sea is 70-75 degrees year round, which is good for any survivors. I thought that was interesting.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) But will you back out at the last minute again... I was there. I was just in the Bullpen Bar seating.

I get the chills during the intro. I have since 2000 and the standing ovation when they came back from the 7-0 trip. I also got teary-eyed at the last out in game 4 in Houston.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 06:07 AM) I think they had Cindy Sheehan portrayed quite well, too. That was my favorite! Teddy the swimmer was good too.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) ONLY if Mr. Eye makes a fatal tactical error and tries to argue that stupid Marvel Superheroes would win. NO WAY, BABY! And I would have been quite happy to see you get the nod. As Kap can attest, I'm just not much for arguing on message boards. Who cares? The Rock would kick all their asses!

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) After the commercial is the footage.. Sigh... why eye.. why are you so difficult...??? I'm telling you, it's just a Cadilac commercial for me. No footage afterward. I do have a funny desire to go buy a caddy, though.

It was a Cadilac commercial.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Exactly. Securing a block of 200+ tickets in July-Sept is already much harder then it was last year due to the increase. April or May was the initial choice. The 5/22 game will be a hot ticket. But damn you Sox for not making it a weekend or summer night.. I'll be in again.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) Tammy Baldwin, Democrat from WI Jim Kolbe, Republican from AZ. Oh yeah! I remember Kolbe now. Tammy? A chick, huh? Sweeeet!

Very nice! I was sitting in a restaurant once and heard these kids talking about what they got on a test. One of the questions that all 4 of them got wrong was: "What are the first ten amendments called?" This girl was going on and on about "The Bill of Rights! Why do we need to know that? Nobody knows that." Then she saw one of her other teachers (I assumed because she called him Mr.) if he knew the answer. I waited for him to go into a "You need to know this..., it's very important..." diatribe, but alas, he just said he didn't know. :headshake

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) There are openly gay members of Congress right now. I know about Barney Frank. Who else, Rex?

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) Interesting flash poll from CBS. 700 Watchers approved of the speech 77-23. However only 32 percent of those watchers thought that those goals would be accomplished. That sounds about right. Probably because of past experience.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) I think its great that the Bush administration set a goal - and a lofty one for energy policy in his speech. I just hope that he follows through. Previous energy policy from the administration has illustrated the opposite. I think its great that the President is all about AIDS research too. I think he talked a pretty good game today, but it is ultimately political theater. Has been since the beginning of the 20th century when the State of the Union became an address rather than a letter. A lot of good things I heard tonight. If he follows through, great. If he doesn't, it'll be like every other State of the Union since Ford was actually honest in 1975 and said the "State of the Union was not good." Rex, we agree! I think some of these goals are more attainable than in past years, though. I may be wrong here, but I didn't here as much "new" programs this year as in years past (Bush and Clinton). Maybe of we quit making so many lofty goals we can reach some of them. I'm hopeful he / they can start to curb the spending in Washington. I shook my head when he said he had a plane to cut the deficit in half by 2009. Why so long? Why not tomorrow? Why not yesterday. Stand up and tell Congress you'll veto any budget that doesn't cut the deficit in half THIS year! es, you have the power to veto, President Bush! Use it!
