  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 09:03 AM) That referee single handledy ruined the game. The Klose sending off was farcical. 3 fouls now equals 2 yellows? The 2nd yellow wasn't even close to a card. That said, Germany still should have gotten at least a point if not all 3 from their 2nd half performance. Podolski was terrible, 7 shots, 1 missed penalty. Serbia weren't too convincing, and there's a possibility we could get a result against them based on their form so far, but we need to beat Ghana tomorrow night to have any hope. It wasn't our best game, but we also hit the post twice (as Germany did once as well). Germany played with desperation down to 10 men and down a goal so of course they went all-out on the attack and played a great 2nd half. And in typical Serbian fashion, they went into all-defense and counter-attack mode trying to hold on to the lead. Had some great chances though with the Zigic header off the crossbar and Jovanovic also hitting the post. Serbia was better in the 1st, Germany was better in the 2nd, but Serbia had the better chances. Obviously 11 on 10 affects that as well and I agree the Klose yellows were bad. As for my totally biased comment of the day, we were horrible unlucky against Ghana after Lukovic got 2 yellow's and the handball, and we were lucky today.
  2. I happen to like: "He once visited a fortune teller...to tell her she was in trouble."
  3. SRBIJA!!! Huge, HUGE victory. I almost had a panic attack when Vidic got carded for that handball but what a save by Stojkovic. A win against Australia and we should be in good position to advance depending on the Ghana/Australia result. Referee's were bad, but I though they were pretty evenly harsh to both sides. Huge victory for the team and for the country. I'll be celebrating my ass off tonight!
  4. I'm terribly nervous about facing Germany tomorrow morning. I think we have it in us, but it's going to be extremely tough. I just don't want to see a meltdown. We desperately need a positive result.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:51 PM) Kobe was damn close to having about the biggest turnover in NBA history.
  6. Buster Olney reporting Pedro Alvarez WILL play against the White Sox tomorrow. Over/under on RBI is 2. GO:
  7. Noth goals by Brazil were spectacular. Not flashy, but brilliant. Maicon scoring from that angle is impressive and the pass to score the 2nd was spot on by Robinho.
  8. I believe AJ's 10/5 rights have officially kicked in.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) He's a terrible bunter, this I know for certain. This is a fact. As soon as Alexei came up, I said "uh oh, he's a horrible bunter." I even tweeted it because of the inevitable, luckily we got the balk.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) Link? Just kidding...you seem pretty confident in that. I have it from VERY good sources.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) I think Ghana hit a post too. The stats look pretty even so I guess my surprise that Ghana was not outclassed by Serbia. Serbia certainly wasn't the better team and I thought they would be a stronger side than their performance from today forgetting the last 20 minutes. Ghana hit the post on a very weak header that likely would have been saved by Stojkovic had there been no post there. But I certainly agree that it was a disappointing performance. I don't like the term "outclassed" thought. It's a bad matchup. Both teams play a very different style.
  12. As of Friday, there is/was no interest in AJ at all.
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) I feel bad about my comment in the other thread now, but I was shocked that Ghana actually looked the better side. Serbia HAS to get a result against Germany and beat Australia. If they only get a draw against Germany they're still on the bubble with a win over Australia. Pretty shocking start, but this is a really tough group. Ghana looked more athletic, but I wouldn't say the looked entirely the better side. Krasic and Zigic had the 2 best chances by far next to Ghana's missed diving header which would have been tough either way. Krasic did nothing. Zigic was slow and lacked endurance. Pantelic was non-existent. Milijas' name wasn't ever said until he was subbed for. And despite Lukovic's 2 yellows, he was probably our best defensemen. Kuzmanovic better be careful when he gets back to Serbia because he's the most hated man in the country right now. Milan Jovanovic, the future Liverpool winger was the only player who showed up and played like he wanted to win. Essentially we have to win against both Germany and Australia, which is entirely feasible, but they'll need Ghana to get a draw with Germany and a loss to Australia hopefully.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) Yeah because when you get a red card and a penalty against you it's pretty hard to win. Sorry, had to. I really don't think the World Cup applies because it's such a different competition. No, you didn't have to.
  15. I'm absolutely devastated. On the verge of tears.
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Alright Slav. It's been 3 pages and you have yet to respond to your own thread. What is your opinion? World Cup, by a mile and a half.
  17. The Tim Howard/Robert Green comparisons to the MLB, NFL and NHL really irk the living s*** out me. Twitter was absolutely UNBEARABLE this afternoon.
  18. I'm very interested in the results. I have a very strong opinion on this, but I'll wait until we get some results.
  19. All my Mexican friends are picking Mexico to win 5-2 for some reason.
  20. Wow! Just wow! I can't describe in words how amazing that was. I will never EVER forget where I was when the Hawks won their 1st cup in my lifetime. I'm a summer intern a CSN and was there when it all went down. Absolute chaos in the newsroom. And being right there downtown to see all the fans going nuts was fantastic. I got choked up in front of everyone watching Roenick talk about his days with the Hawks and watching Hossa finally lift the cup. I've been up and down with the Blackhawks for as long as I can remember. From the excitement of them sneaking into the Playoffs in 2001 to the disappointment of watching them get their asses handed to them by the Blues. You know things are bad when Eric Daze is far and away your best player. Then the strike happened and it was hard to be a fan of such a poorly-run organization. This rejuvenation has gone far quicker than I could have ever imagined and I look forward to watching this team continue to grow for many many more years.
  21. Let me just say that I am ecstatic with the amount of great young talent in the bigs right now. We have so many thing to look forward too: Stephen Strasburg Mike Stanton Jason Heyward Wade Davis Brian Matusz Neftali Feliz Bryce Harper This on top of guys like Lincecum, Ubaldo, Longoria. Oh, and hopefully Gordon Beckham. This is the influx of talent we've been waiting for.
  22. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 11:24 PM) I said before the season that Rios was going to be Walker's big project. It turns out that not only is Alex our best player, but he's one of the better position players all-around in the league. IMO Walker is fine, even though he's going to look even worse once Kenny starts shipping guys out. And Walker was the one who completely reworked Rios' swing.....in one day.
  23. We just took Ozney in the 22nd round.
