QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 7, 2009 -> 12:10 AM) I did not think I would have this reaction to Watchmen... but words cannot express how good, original (I know, adaptation), and brutally awesome Watchmen is... I was captivated. I guess if you read the graphic novel, you won't like it as much, and I will be reading it now, but God damn, that movie was great. I agree 100%. I hadn't read the graphic novel at all, but the movie, I thought, was damn good. I wouldn't quite say great, but about as close as it gets. It wasn't what I expected at all. I was expecting a straight up movie hero, action flick. But the story was absolutely incredible. The action definitely takes a backseat, and it doesn't make the movie boring at all, however, the action scenes are very good in the film as well, so it;'s an even bigger plus. I thought the characters were about as well developed as you could possibly do with a 400 page story in a 2 hr, 45 minute movie. It didn't drag at all. The portrayal of Rohrshach was by far my favorite part of the movie. From the mask, to the voice, to the personality. It was incredible. It's a surprisingly powerful movie, and I thought the ending was well done. For those of you who never read the story, it shouldn't be hard at all to catch on. You should do so quickly. I came in with very high expectations of the film, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was nothing that I expected, yet better than what I expected. Think X-Men meets the Matrix and you get Watchmen.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 08:42 AM) Here we go again with my hatred of a "franchise, f***ing stud QB" but Forte had a great season this past year. Granted, he was given tons of touches, but that isn't his problem. He racked up 1230+ rushing yards and about 20 yards under 500 on the receiving end. I believe he finished with 11 TD's, too. All this was behind an absolutely pitiful OL. His season last year was better then any of Cutler's so far. If we did trade Forte for Cutler, it would have to be straight up. To give them Forte + a 2nd or a 3rd would be an awful move for the organization. New to football? -
Not gonna lie, I'm not a huge fan of T.O.'s attitude, but I'd LOVE to have him on the Bears. He makes them so much better. And it's not like he's going to get pissed at Orton. After Olsen, who else is he going to throw to? Orton-Owens-Olsen...uh oh.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 12:56 AM) The Broncos aren't going to trade Jay Cutler, but if they were interested and wanted Matt Forte and 2nd/3rd round pick I'd trade him in a second. A) Don't get me wrong, I really like Forte but when did he become Walter Payton reincarnated? and B-) As has been proven time and time again throughout the league... its sooo much harder to find an elite QB than an RB. The O-Line dictates whether the RB will have success in most cases. Look at Denver. They had about 19 successful running backs while Shanahan was there. I agree that if Denver asks for Forte/2nd or 3rd for Cutler, you do it. Cutler anchors the QB position for us for the next decade, and hopefully you use the draft to build a good O-Line. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 12:55 AM) If by worst you mean most amazing then yes I remember it. The chances of that [happening] are............remote.

Was the 2008 NBA Draft rigged to favor Chicago?
SoxFan1 replied to rangercal's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
NY, Ewing (GS with worst record, last lottery pick) CLE, Lebron CHI, Rose OKC, Griffin Oh ya. Yes, I think it was rigged and I think they have been rigged before. And I'm a Bulls fan. -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 07:50 PM) Yes. Will Michael Crabtree be a great NFL WR? Great, no. Very good, yes. Will the Bulls sign a superstar in 2010?

The Bulls f***ing suck. Down 16 in the 2nd to Charlotte?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) Man I loved that movie. Great modern interpretation of mythology IMO. I agree. I loved that movie too. It's not supposed to be realistic, so the people who call it such are the ridiculously laughable ones. It's a graphic freakin' novel. Take it for what its worth...a badass action movie based loosely on the Battle of Thermopylae.

Can't wait to go see Watchmen. I'm really excited about it. The new Terminator movie looks INCREDIBLE.

QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) Yes. Who will hit more HRs this season in the Majors: Crede, Fields, or Viciedo? LOL. Someone missed the yes or no part.

U.S. Cellular Field - Been there plenty of times. Best moment at a game was probably witnessing Thome's 2000th hit. Wrigley Field - Not much I like about the stadium at all to be honest. Great American Ballpark in it's inaugural season. Saw the Reds take on the Mets and we were in the right-center field bleachers. Very nice ballpark, very open concourse, and super clean. I like how it's right on the river. Offers some great views of the city. I'll be going to Miller Park and Comerica Park this summer though.

Frank Thomas, Ed Walsh, Ozzie Guillen, Joe Jackson.

Wow, I'm just shocked. What a horrible day for the organization. I'm glad Kerr got his night to be honored in time. R.I.P. to both of these legends.
-
Terrible and shocking news. I LOVED Stormin' Norm as much as Kerr. He lived a life of "intensitay." Rest in peace Norm, you'll be missed.

B.S. in Broadcasting.

He should be a manager in the MLB one day, but for our sake, I hope he stays with the Sox for a long time.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 12:18 AM) Aside from the loss against the Pacers (lots of new faces) the Bulls have been playing very well since getting healthy (ie, Hinrich and Deng back playing well). Hinrich is a huge upgrade as is a healthy Deng. The Bulls are going to make a run and get a playoff spot and they might even win 2 playoff games. Man, you're still a huge Hinrich fan I see. I used to be one too. Now I realize that he does NOTHING well anymore. So much for his great defense. His man to man D vs Ford is probably why the Bulls lost that game vs IND the other day. He'll go off for 30 every once in a while, giving everyone hope. Realistically, he's just taking minutes from our 2 best players, Gordon and Rose. Oh, and Tyrus still isn't that good.
