  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) Im holding out hope that Konerko comes back and plays like his true self. Otherwise I like Swish at 1B and I would try to find an actual lead off hitter. Thats what I'm going with as well. If we could have Konerko as our DH, with Swish at 1B, and a good lead-off CF, that would be optimal. Whoever the leadoff man is, it allows Cabrera to move back down into the 2 hole (and he's been on fire lately), AJ down to the 5 or 6, and Alexei's hot bat stays somewhere 7-9. It would legitimize the entire batting order. Guys like Taveras, Freel, Figgins, or Ichiro would be a REALLY nice additions. CF Freel/Figgins/Ichiro? SS Cabrera LF Quentin RF Dye DH Konerko/Thome C Pierzynski 1B Swisher 3B Crede 2B Ramirez Another option, trade for a 2B who could lead-off and put Alexei in CF. Roberts, Figgins, Freel...
  2. Xavi played absolutely brilliantly all game, and Senna's 2nd half was great as well. Germany was imply outclassed by Spain.
  3. What a goal by Torres, phenomenal effort. 1-0 Spain at the half. After about the first 8-10 minutes, Spain just dominated.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 02:01 AM) lol thanks, but we all know my name is the best of the 2 Whats the 1st thing you added to your handle after stealing mine? Thats right...a ZERO. There is only one SoxFan1...that is I.
  5. A Kendrick 2B and Napoli BB make it interesting...
  6. If Saito gets the save, the Dodgers will win 1-0 while getting no-hit.
  7. Name stealer! Happy birthday.
  8. Weaver pitching for the Angels, Billingsley for the Dodgers. Weaver has a no-hitter going, but the Angels are down 1-0. 7th inning rolls around, Weaver is up to bat, and they pinch-hit Figgins for him. So the no-hitter is still alive, but the Angels are losing.
  9. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) Alexei the elder is already signed to three more years. How many more years are you going to sign him for, 10? For some reason, I thought he was only here on a 2 year deal.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) I meant Alexei's newborn son. That's who I was talking about.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) Too early to sign him? You know, if he was a pitcher, I'd say yes, but being a hitter, I don't think it is. He's athletic, the D is there, he has speed, and he's been tearing the cover off the ball. Earlier in the season, he had no shot against any kind of breaking ball. Today he hit 2 of them VERY hard.
  12. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 08:40 PM) I'm not gonna be Polly Parrot and profess that I know if he is or not...all I know is he either gets behind too many hitters...or goes 0-2 or 1-2 and just starts dickin' around instead of going for the kill. That pretty much sums it up. He nibbles so much to try and go for the K instead of keeping with the strikes and going at the batters. I kinda wish Coop didn't have the pulled hammy.
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) I really think he is tipping his pitches. If you notice, most of the damage done against him is from the stretch, just like the one writer/scout for Pittsburgh noticed. Once DLee got that lucky single, he started getting hit again from the stretch. He needs to find what exactly he is doing to tip his pitches, and then to make sure opposing players will stop looking for any "tips", he should make off as if he is going to throw a breaking ball but then fire a fastball underneath their chin. I don't think it's that he's tipping his pitches, it's just that he isn't as good out of the stretch. It's pretty common. Floyd has had that problem too. He can't get the same release point and the same push off the rubber like he has out of the wind-up.
  14. Milwaukee up 5-0 in the 7th currently. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) That's a concern we ought to have, too. Floyd and Danks were both highly touted prospects, Contreras, Vazquez and Buehrle have all been All-Stars. I don't think you can quite say the same for their star-studded rotation.
  15. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) Um, Paul was much much better coming out of college. I assume you must be very very young. Paul out of high school was better than Rose out of high school. People just don't realize how much of a beast he has been for the longest. Coming out of high school, Paul was ranked behind such monsters as Ndubi Ebi, David Padgett, and the great Leon Powe. Rose was in competition for the #1 spot between Mayo, Beasley, and himself the entire time.
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) Thornton was just plain sexy today... did he throw anything besides the old no. 1? To answer your question, he threw 1 breaking ball up and in to Edmonds for a ball. Everything else was perfectly located fastballs from 95-97.
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) I wish more americans would realize that... 1 Dollar = .6 Euro but I'm not going to get into all that.
  18. Incredible game by everyone but Javy. Finish 'em tomorrow Burls!
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 28, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) OC, SS; AJ, C; Q, LF; Dye, RF; Thome, DH; Crede, 3B; Swish, 1B; ARam, 2B; Wise, CF. Vazquez pitching. Same lineup as yesterday except Sexi Lexi in for Uribe.
  20. That 70's Show before The Cosby Show is kinda sad.
  21. Enjoy... 1024x768 1280x800 1280x854 1280x1024 1440x900 1600x1200
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) He looks just like Willie Harris in the face. Thank god he hits the ball a little harder! To me, he's a cross between Ryan Howard and Quentin "Rampage" Jackson.
