Orlando Cabrera Calls Press Box to Complain During Game
SoxFan1 replied to South Side Fireworks Man's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Since the start of the SF series, OC has brought his average up 23 points from .218 to .241. He has 13 hits in his last 10 games. 4 of those games were multi-hit games. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2008 -> 01:08 AM) Swish is in a bad spot. His uppercut in the swing is all f***ed up, as well as he needs an approach change. He keeps going up there trying to have one of his 5 or 6 pitch at bats, but he's seeing strike 1 and strike 2 within the first few pitches of every at bat because the pitchers know he won't swing. If he'd be more aggressive early in counts (like in the 12th tonight), I think Swish would greatly benefit from it. It's a double-edged sword. If you go up there and hit it hard at somebody on the 1st pitch or 2, it's very frustrating. And then on top of that, a hitter beats himself up for being to aggressive because he didn't get to work the at-bat and see a bunch of pitches. Swisher, right now, as Hawk would say, is caught in between.,

QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2008 -> 11:15 PM) Anyone see this statistical stuff on Chicago Sports? Pretty cool http://chicagosports.inside-edge.com/white...2&dt=052608 Below the MLB average when it comes to hitting fastballs? That is weird, and very surprising.

QUOTE (The Beast @ May 26, 2008 -> 10:57 PM) I'm curious about my fellow posters opinions: How did you all feel about tonight's plate umpire and his strike zone? How did you feel about the strikes called on the check swings? The entire umpiring crew was horrid. Perez threw 3 breaking balls to Quentin, all were at least 8 inches off the plate, and all 3 were called strikes. The ump behind the plate was terribly inconsistent. A few of the check swings were questionable from the CF view, but they were often right when looking at the foul line view. Seems whenever we play Cleveland we get a terrible umpiring crew.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 26, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) Oh come on....with that hit he pulled off in the 12th after the fake bunt, he can surely pull off a hit and run. Alexei's just got to do a better job of that....not Ozzie's fault... Yeah, it's kinda like blaming Ozzie for BA's inability to put down a squeeze bunt.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 26, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) Good win. Way to overcome horrible managing by Ozzie. Did I miss something?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 26, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...&id=3412775 good article on the Sox pitching by Phil Rogers I f***ing hate that piece of crap writer. He's eating his words now because he predicted Cleveland would sweep us in the last series on route to taking over the division and running away with it, that being after they just got swept by the Reds. And now that we've won 4 in a row against the Indians, he has to acknowledge that the team actually might be pretty good. And even in a White Sox articles, he has to mention his beloved f***ing Cubbies. Danks may not be an ace but I'm sure if Rich Hill had the same numbers he'd be doing the usual knob-gobbling.

THOME! OC! AJ! BA! AND THE OBLIGATORY CQ! BULLPEN! YES!
-
At least PK is taking some better cuts up there.
-
Thank you BA! And more so, thank you Eric Wedge!

Umm, a group of friends and I watch the show every Tuesday night. There is no question Sig would be the guy I want as my captain, but I've got Phil and the Cornelia Marie in our pool. Not doing so hot.

Quentin deserves to be the starting left fielder in the ASG for the AL, no doubt.
-
Alexei gets the nod. Close one.

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 25, 2008 -> 12:08 AM) elaborate Terrible work ethic, very little actual skill, relies solely on athleticism, has no real position, selfish, immature...the list goes on. He's a bust and is nowhere close to being worthy of the 4th (technically 2nd) pick overall. Sure, he may take 7 years to develop like Jermaine O'Neal, but I know I won't be waiting for him, and quite possibly this off-season or the next, neither will Paxson and the Bulls. Do you really think Tyrus can develop into a 20/10 player? He is too weak/small to be a PF (which he has no post game anyway) and doesn't have a good enough jumpshot or good enough handles to be a SF.

K we need one tomorrow.

Sometimes when you're tall, you see things in mirrors that you probably shouldn't see.

Deadline to vote is tomorrow (Sunday) at midnight.

A line-up without Tyrus Thomas is a line-up I'd like. The kid just isn't a very good player, and he never will be.

QUOTE (Nokona @ May 24, 2008 -> 03:11 AM) Me too Ozzie. Basking in the glory of a WS was beautiful one time. Next time will be soooo much more fun and will definitely be taken advantage of. Kidna weird how that works out. You're supposed to go nuts the 1st time, and act like you've been there the next time.

QUOTE (feistyboy @ May 24, 2008 -> 01:39 AM) I have confidence the White Sox will be back with the win tommorow with John Danks back on the mound. I have alot of confidence in him. You, my friend, are a very confident man. Welcome aboard!

The SP has been great, Cabrera seems to be waking up out of his coma (I'm telling you, once the weather gets hot, so will he), Dye has hit well lately, and we still have Carlos Quentin. We also stole 4 bases tonight.
-
So I was forced to watch a few innings of the Cubs/Pirates game tonight at my Grandparents house, and my god are the Pirates terrible. No wonder the Cubs are in 1st place. The NL blows.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) quit slurping Chandler, yes he was a better defender but he is way more ineffective offensively than Tyrus. Without Paul he would avg. 5 ppg. Also have you considered most of the time when called for goaltending the likelyhood of that ball going in anyways was pretty high. With a guy like Rose leading the offense Tyrus is prob going to avg. more points just next year more than Chandler ever did. I used to be a big Chandler fan but between you and Hammer im starting to dislike him. One would think he was the greatest thing on Earth with the amount of love he gets. Also, Chandler was avg. 5 points a game his last season with the bulls so dont know where you were going with that, the only reason we struggled without him was because we had nobody competent behind him to play. Chandlers only real solid year was the 04-05 one but if given the playing time I have no doubts that Tyrus can match or top his point output and block output he had that year. Maybe not the 10 boards but around 7-8 isnt out of the question. Tyrus Thomas has yet to average 7 ppg in his 2 seasons. Chandler was pushing 10 his 2nd season in the league. Without Paul he'd average 5 a game, yet without Paul, he had 2 seasons over 8 ppg. That's more than can be said for Tyrus in his first 2 seasons. You're complaining about the Chandler love...have you seen the mass slurpage Tyrus gets? He gets a dunk and half of Chicago busts a f***ing nut. He's a terrible finisher. He has a terrible attitude. He has an inconsistent jump shot with zero offensive moves. He is undersized as a PF. He can't play man to man defense. The only thing going for his is athleticism. Look where that got Darius Miles, Stromile Swift, etc.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) How effective was Chandler on the Bulls He got into a lot of foul trouble, but he was always a good defender, and in his last season with the Bulls, he was great. When he got hurt in the playoffs, we were done. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) Tyrus has more offensive potential I acknowledge that. But potential doesn't mean squat. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) defense is work in progress He is a terrible defender. Nowhere close to Tyson's level. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) already has great help D with the blocks and whatnot. Blocks. That's it. He attempts to block everything, and with his jumping ability, he'll run into a few. His offensive output in 2 seasons is in the negatives because he gives up more via goaltending than he scores. Hell, even Ben Gordon isn't [i[that[/i] bad at help defense. Man on man, Gordon and Tyrus are the worst on the Bulls. Derrick Rose (Freshman @ Memphis): 14.9 ppg, 4.7 apg Chris Paul (Freshman @ Wake Forest): 14.8 ppg, 5.9 apg Rose is a better NBA prospect coming out of college than Chris Paul and Deron Williams were, but people are expecting him to be a superstar as a rookie.
