  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 11:46 PM) Somebody needs to find a way to get video of Greg Walker in a bikini at Craig Stebek's house. 8th time we've been shutout this year, and 12th time in our last 125 games going back to last August (once every 10 games or so). So convenient that people bring this thread back up after we have a bad offensive night. Doesn't mean anything we've scored 6 runs a game this month. NOTE: I do no at all condone the keeping of Greg Walker as hitting coach. Just stating an observation.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) 28 including Greg Walker and Billy Williams did it 3 times (he also had a 164 GP season.) Actually you're wrong. A player has played in 163+ games in a single season with more than one team a grand total of 3 times in the history of the game. Todd Zeile ('96), Willie Montanez ('76) and Frank Taveras ('79) but he actually played in 164 games. So how does a player manage to play 163, with the same team, in a 162 game season, unless 1 game playoffs for the wild card count towards the regular season.
  3. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) I believe that statement was said as a joke. He said he wished he would have stayed here longer, and then said he's been "trying to get jerry to sell him the white sox." I don't really think it was true. However, all Albert did for the Sox was produce, can't say I didn't like him! 30/116 49/152 f***ing monster... too bad we had zero pitching for that club. He had a 9-year tear in there that was as good as anyone... damn knees. I'll never forget the ad campaign the White Sox ran with him breaknig a bat and it said something like 100% amber or whatever type of wood they stated. They have stupendous marketing. I had a Belle jersey when he was with the Sox. Saw him a few times in person. He was a helluva player. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 09:40 PM) I loved Belle. I was a big fan of his. He did play 163 games for us in one year! Seriously, how many players can say they played in 163 games in one season? More than you'd think. Happens all the time when players are traded mid-season.
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 09:28 PM) On initial glance, that's what I seem to think. It just seems to me like it's a system that could cause some problems, i.e. some "under the table" type agreements. Tevez is a striker, right? I'm still learning all the different formations, but isn't Man U pretty well-stocked up front with Saha and Rooney? Yes, Tevez is a striker. And yes, Man U is pretty set up front with Saha and Rooney. They also have Solksjaer and Alan Smith. Adding Tevez would likely put Saha on the bench, or on another team. But then again, football is much different in the way teams set their rosters. The big clubs just go out and get all the best guys they can. Look at Chelsea as a prime example. They have a ton of really good midfielders. Makalele, Essien, Lampard, Ballack, Cole, Sidwell, Malouda, Robben, and Wright-Phillips. Hell, at one point, they had Shevchenko, Drogba, Crespo, and Kalou on the same team.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) So is Carlos Tevez going to Man U for two years on a loan? I find that loan system very odd by the way, especially in this case -- one of West Ham's best players going to a team in the same 'league'? Everything I have read says that Man U wants to buy him outright, and not to take him on a loan. Supposedly he's already reached a verbal agreement. As far as the loan system, most will tell you it is a very imperfect system. There can be free loans and there can be paid loans. Basically it's just a player rental. And usually when you see paid loans, it's between 2 premier league clubs. Other loans don't make much of a deal, especially id an EPL team loans a player to one of the championship leagues. Most of the time, you'll see reserve players being sent out on loan. The entire Tevez situation has been controversial since the day he signed with West Ham. On another note, Liverpool is improving a lot. They've added Benayoun, Torres, Voronin, and now Babel.
  6. Wow, I just watched the video of Beckham's introduction to the Galaxy. Confetti? Seriously? The best was when he said "For me, the most important thing is my family. The 2nd thing is the foot...is the soccer."
  7. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Not Erstad, He was only a punter in college lol....Fields by far!!! Kicker lol, that makes me laugh lol, Kickers should only speak when spoken to. lol KICKER HAHHAHA Interesting that you find that so hilarious. I want to see you kick a 50 yard field goal.
  8. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) And this year Iguchi has pput up crap everywhere. I noticed today, Fields has almost the same numbers as Iguchi, and in less than half the time. Fields: .252, 5 HR, 18 HR, 31 Games Gooch: .253, 5 HR, 24 RBI, 75 Games
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) That's the sort of thinking that loses ballgames. I'm beginning to think Boone Logan is too powerful of a weapon for Ozzie to handle. I know you're being semi-sarcastic, but all he had to do was NOT give up a home run.
  10. My god, we get off to a great start, the bullpen comes in and is absolutely s***ty. My god, this is why I think we'll never go on a big run. Not with this bullpen at least. Even Boone Logan gave up a bomb.
  11. Come on Timo! Come on Timo! Come on Timo!
  12. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jul 11, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) IIRC, the English and the Yanks are the nations least likely to dive and dissent, along with the Eastern Europeans. I agree about the diving, but England and the US unlikely to dissent? I'll humbly disagree with that one. And as far as diving, Italy is right up there in that category, although they are kind of Midwest Europe, if you will.
  13. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jul 11, 2007 -> 07:37 PM) There are a lot of Big Four followers -- and of course, Sox Fan 1 will cheer for any side with a couple of Serbs! Uuum, Bolton??? I like ManU because of Vidic though, so you're partially right. And if you have DirecTV or any sort of satellite network and you want to watch a lot of EPL, make sure to get Setanta Sports. They have tons of games on, and you get a lot of international matches, UEFA tournaments, etc. all live. It costs about $12 a month for me, but well worth it. Also, if you get the Sports Package, you will get GolTV (great for Spanish and Italian football) and Fox Soccer Network which has mostly EPL games.
  14. "Hurted." I want to punch everyone within 10 feet of me in the face when I hear people use that word.
  15. I think Gwynn might be the better pure hitter, but there is no doubt that Bonds is the most feared hitter and probably one of, if not the best hitters in MLB history. BTW, when it's all said and done, Ryan Howard (and possibly Prince Fielder) will have more HR's than Bonds, Griffey, Pujols, Rodriguez, etc.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) I think Soxfan1 and Whitesoxfan101 should be forced to change their names because their too similar to mine and im the oldest and the coolest of the bunch No go. I was here first. QUOTE(max power @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) I don't even know what that means is one reason. Someone else was complaining to me about the costs and blah blah on behalf of the owners of this site, I thought it could be something to consider. Kalapse is referring to the fact that SoxTalk is free while there is a fee at the Cubs primary message board, North Side Baseball.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) Why? he has to build up his guy for his impending free agency status. (yes, I know he is a FA after 2008) Not obvious enough for you?

Spider Man 3 was a disappointment to me.
  19. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) From the Chicago Tribune WebSite: Crede to start rehab in Arizona White Sox third baseman Joe Crede will start his rehabilitation program on his lower back this week in Arizona. That development was revealed Monday by agent Scott Boras, who declined to confirm whether his client would be ready to return by the end of the regular season. "The main thing is we want him back healthy and at full strength," Boras said. "The key is that we resolved a problem that Joe had been playing in a great deal of pain and seeing that the problem is not something that would affect his long-term future. That he's going to be a completely healthy player again is something we're really happy about getting accomplished." Boras said Crede's operation, in which fluid and small particles were removed from the area where nerves were irritated, was "a very easy fix and the doctor (Robert Watkins) is very optimistic about Joe's full return and just a matter of time in him going forward." After Crede was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 6 and underwent surgery a week later, many Sox observers wondered why Crede didn't have off-season surgery to repair the bulging disks in Crede's lower back. But "the doctors all said they were against surgery because the pain level was symptomatic. The doctors recommended he not have surgery because he had a great season, played well and didn't affect his play," Boras said. "It was just the wear and tear of the season brought it to this level. I'm shocked that Bora$ was so positive about Crede.
  20. Pujols pulls a HR Derby 2003 with his 10th out.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 08:59 PM) Trivia time. If you get this within 5 minutes, I know you Googled. Who hit the first HR in the history of PacBell/SBC/AT&T Park? Probably Neifi Perez. Alex Rios and Matt Holliday putting on a show.
  22. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) What's everyone's prediction on when Thome will hit #500? My prediction: On Elvis Night, Friday August 10 vs Seattle. Will there be much hype, locally and nationally, leading up to #500, and will it be a big deal? Will it be like any other homerun or will it generate a sellout crowd (if it's at home) with a playoff type atmosphere? I can't wait for this.. it's something to really look forward to in the 2nd half!! August 27th. Because it's mine and Thome's birthday. It's only fitting.
  23. This s*** is boring.
