QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 11:00 AM) Me too, but I highly doubt the Bolts let him leave. Everything I've read pretty much proclaims him a goner, unless things have changed since the end of the season and I didn't see it.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 10:54 AM) And that is a problem. They have zero talent outside of an oft-injured Bennet at the wideout spot. I fully expect Roy to be resigned, giving them a #4. Knox doesn't even factor into the equation at this point (given I have zero confidence he can even play). Sanzy is physically limited and not very good (and even than he was one of the Beras better wideouts early in the year). I have excluded Hester which is probably a negative but it would assume he gets banged up as well and has his own injury issues (not significant ones), but definitely has had them when playing wideout. This corps is a joke and I've been saying it for years. I'm not disagreeing with you that the group of WR we currently have is laughable, but it's simply not what the Bears have done. The Cutler and Peppers additions were steps in the right direction, but they failed in regards to complimentary moves and are total outliers. I don't think there's any doubt they bring in a WR, whether it's a legit #1 or not is yet to be determined. Outside of Peppers, look at what our biggest FA additions have been in recent years: Marion Barber, Roy Williams, Chris Spencer, Tim Jennings, Pisa Tinoisamoa, Anthony Adams, Frank Omiyale, Chester Taylor, Brandon Manumaleuna. Now, obviously these were all under Jerry Angelo and we've yet to see what Emery has up his sleeve, but the Bears have built through the draft.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) I think the Bears need to bring in 3 wideouts. At least one needs to be a good veteran (Hines would not be that). Another needs to be via draft pick. The next could be a draft pick or another veteran, depending on what they do. I don't think we'll see nearly as big an overhaul as people are hoping or expecting. That's not the Bears MO, and it never has been. If they sign 1 WR and draft another, that'd be a pretty big step (depending on who, of course). I'd be shocked to see them bring in 3 new WR. The only way that happens is if they don't think Knox will be able to play next year.

QUOTE (Andrew @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) Yes. I think a healthy, professional, baseball player in his prime who needs 126 swings at a stationary ball to complete 18 holes (and after 60 rounds experience), speaks volumes. My wife shoots better than that and she's played maybe 10 times. You ignored the rest of my post. Without any coaching or training, it's not an easy sport to pick up, not at all. It doesn't matter what your wife shoots (not offense) and it doesn't matter what Tiger Woods shoots. And for all we know, he could be counting every single stroke, like a pro would, where as in casual golf, guys won't count scratches or penalties and such. Or pull the "I'll take 6" for a hole.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) The thing is, Morel's glove can be good enough where he doesn't have to display massive power in order to be a useful player. If he can hit .270 with 15 homers, he'll be very useful. Exactly. I agree with you completely. And I think if he'll be batting out of the 8 or 9 spot all season with little pressure to produce, he could be a pleasant surprise. I'm quite interested in seeing how he develops this season. -
I've been playing golf on and off for over 2 years and I'm still hitting around 100 in 18 holes. It's not easy to learn and get good at, especially if you're tall and especially not quickly. And contrary to popular belief, his baseball swing mechanics could royally screw over someone's golf swing. Are we really going to base our opinions of Alex Rios' hitting abilities based off his inability to shoot better than a 126 in golf? This is seriously ridiculous. "Hey look, he's an athlete who isn't good at everything. He doesn't want to get better! What an asshole!" Come on...

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) You hope for the best from Morel. But, you are right and folks should remember the Josh Fields thing Because something similar has happened in the past doesn't mean it will happen again. I happen to think Morel will turn into a nice player. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 08:40 AM) I would look to draft my #1 before I would sign my #1 from FA. I cant imagine the Bears have a solid plan yet, there is a lot of free agency contingencies I'm not really so sure about that. Blackmon is the only sure-thing (to me) in this draft, and the Bears have no shot at him. I like Floyd a LOT, and I think he'll be a stud, but he won't be there at 19 either and there are off-the-field issues. Stephen Hill's measurables were insane, but he's far from a sure thing in the 1st round. Jefferey looks to have fallen into the 2nd until we see what he can do at his Pro Day. I'm not sold on Wright either. I think it's much more important for the Bears to get a sure-fire #1 WR in free agency. It's still early in free agency to see what other holes the Bears might be able to fill, but I'm a huge fan of Mike Wallace. He's young, he's a huge playmaker, and I think Cutler would benefit immensely from having him. He also opens things up for Bennett and for the TE. Best case scenario: you can sign Jackson/Colston to be your #1, and pick best available in the 1st round, whether it's a OL/DL/DB, and then you can get the best WR available in the 2nd round. If that's not possible, I wouldn't mind Wallace even with having to give up the 1st rounder. You have two 3rd round picks too, and it's inevitable someone they like can fall.

So...who's seen the new Tyler Perry movie!?!?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) Bears right now have: Bennett (legit, can be a good #2) Knox (busted back, may not even play in 2012, but a #3 or #4 at best on a good WR corps) Hester (sucks) Sanzenbacher (perhaps has potential, but for now sucks) So they need to find a legit #1, someone who can get about 1200-1400 yards. Bennett should be good for about 900, maybe 1000 in a full season. The other guy they sign (whose spot Ward would be taking) needs to be able to get at least about 600 with the remaining yards scattered between whoever else... I don't see Ward capable of that at this stage in his career. They need better than a 4th WR, they already have guys like that So you're saying the Bears top 3 WR (even on the low end) should get 1200, 900, and 600 yards? That, along with the presumed receiving yards from Forte and the TE would probably make them one of the elite passing games in the NFL. Top 5 passing offenses in the NFL last year, in order, with their top 3 WR stats: NO: Marques Coltson (80, 1143) - Lance Moore (52, 627) - Robert Meachen (40, 620) = 2390 DET: Calvin Johnson (96, 1681) - Nate Burleson (73, 757) - Titus Young (48, 607) = 3045 NE: Wes Welker (122, 1569) - Deion Branch (51, 702) - Chad Ochocinco (51, 276) = 2547 NYG: Victor Cruz (82, 1536) - Hakeem Nicks (76, 1192) - Mario Manningham (39, 523) = 3260 PIT: Mike Wallace (72, 1193) - Antonio Brown (69-1108) - Hines Ward (46, 381) = 2682 CHI: WR 1 (1200-1400) - WR 2 (900-1000) - WR 3 (600) = 2700-3000 Forte had 490 receiving yards in 12 games last year. By your math, the top 3 WR and Forte would combine (on the low end) 1200+900+600+471 (Forte's career low) = 3171 yards. That's before any TE's, other RB, and the other 3 WR. I guess I don't see it, especially when you figure Tice will also include the TE in the passing game a lot more. You're basically asking for last year's Packers offense: Nelson (68, 1263) Jennings (67, 949) Jones (38, 635) Finley was their 3rd leading receiver and had 767 yards on 55 catches.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) Now show us his numbers vs the Lakers. That's the team that owned him. Make sure you include fouls and turnovers. Trust me. It's ugly. I was actually going to post the stats from every single game he's played vs the Lakers in the playoffs knowing you'd respond with EXACTLY this but I was too lazy. Hint, his numbers aren't nearly as bad as you make it seem. He's played them in 3 series and he was pretty dominant in one. The fact that the Jazz lost all three series isn't entirely on Boozer. Pretty sure he averaged a double-double in all 3.
-
BTW, Boozers playoff stats in 4 seasons w/ Utah: 06-07: 23.5 pts, 12.2 reb, 2.9 ast, .536 fg% 07-08: 16.0 pts, 12.3 reb, 2.8 ast, .415 fg% 08-09: 20.6 pts, 13.2 reb, 2.2 ast, .528 fg% 09-10: 19.7 pts, 13.2 reb, 2.9 ast, .530 fg% Last year w/ CHI: 10-11: 12.6 pts, 9.7 reb, 1.8 ast, .433 fg% in about in 6-8 less minutes.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) "Something" is different than "carrying your team" like he was expected to do in Utah That was Deron Williams' team. He was option #2.

I always loved Greg Norton too for some odd reason. "Nawton, yo' the greatest!"

Omiyale is gone! HALLELUJAH!!!!

I figured Frank would kinda be a unanimous, no-brainier amongst all Sox fans. Hell, he's the reason I'm a White Sox fan.

Since there seems to be so much hate in that Alex Rios thread, I'm curious as to who peoples favorite White Sox players are. We love to hate certain players for odd reasons, so who are some random White Sox players you love? For me, Ray Durham is possibly my favorite Sox player of all time. Loved everything about him and got to meet him when I was a kid. Ray Durham Mark Buehrle Shingo Takatsu Mike Sirotka

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) I'd absolutely love it if they brought him in, but as a 4th or 5th receiver only. If that's their only WR addition, it still helps, but it's a massive fail. I was reading earlier today about how Ward, when told he was no longer one of their top options in the passing game, tool to Sanders and Wallace and Brown and really taught them how to become better WR. I'm not the only one who thinks this: http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/bears-talk/...&feedID=626 Bears could also look to land TE Carlson? http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7538091.story

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 01:15 AM) Absolutely, and without question, Juan Uribe. Whatever it was, that guy was always on my nerves. I was much angrier then though. *shrugs* This has to be Juan Uribe post-2005, right? When he gained weight?

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) I agree with youa bout Snodgress. IIRC, the Sox almost took him with their first pick. I didn't know they considered picking him so highly. But if they did, I'm sure they were thrilled to nab him in the 5th. I'm intrigued by how much his control has improved in WS compared to how it was at Stanford. Tall lefties will always have great value, and it's nice to see the White Sox flip the script and convert a reliever into a starter. He's a little bit older than most others at his level if I'm not mistaken, but it's still promising to see the peripherals. It's most important for him to work on secondary pitches and increasing his stamina. I'll definitely be keeping tabs on him this season.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 11:37 PM) I would like to hear the fallout of Rose's knee injury after tonight. He was in serious pain after the collision, he did play the rest of the game, but I didn't really see any explosion from him tonight. I hope this isn't a lingering injury where he can play immediately after, but forces him to miss time in the future. He never really turned the jets on all the way, but he was still getting to the hole at will and got extreme elevation when going up for shots. I think he's fine. I hope he's fine.
