  1. Really big road W against a very good, very hot Spurs team. Especially in a back to back. I'll say it again, health is the biggest key for the Bulls. And I don't give a s*** that Boozer is on the bench in the 4th. I care about W's.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) It's official. Joakim is back to being a top center in basketball. Health is the most important thing for the Bulls down the stretch.
  3. I think Corey Crawford has officially lost his job. Great come-from-behind W for the Hawks. They need every point right now. Listen to this s***: the Blackhawks are 21-1-0 when Andrew Brunette records a point this season.
  4. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) The Marlins (and their new manager) just got jinxed: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6221885.story WOW, it's a combo jinx. Ozzie on the cover of SI AND they used "All In".
  5. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 07:02 PM) I don't understand the fact that you think this thread sucks, yet you come here a lot. Not trying to start anything with you but you complain about the quality of content yet keep coming back? There are threads here at ST I really don't care for therefore I avoid them, I don't go in them and complain how terrible they are...I don't get it. And (while admittedly guilty of it myself with this post) posts like you just quoted don't help the problem.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) If that happens, I may refuse to pay my season ticket invoice this year, cause it would mean absolutely nothing has changed with the new GM. I'd absolutely love it if they brought him in, but as a 4th or 5th receiver only. If that's their only WR addition, it still helps, but it's a massive fail. I was reading earlier today about how Ward, when told he was no longer one of their top options in the passing game, tool to Sanders and Wallace and Brown and really taught them how to become better WR.
  7. Avengers trailer made me pee myself.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) Really? I neither recall that nor believe that honestly, since the White Sox aren't exactly known for picking guys with big bonus demands, and a lot of teams above us who needed pitching do have a habit of going over slot. A whole lot of people thought the Royals would take him at 4, IIRC. Putting Sale in the bigs his first year wouldn't exactly cover for much of the big bonus issue. It's also not hard to find scouting reports from the 2010 draft saying that if he drops its because of his arm motion. Keith Law, btw, has also never liked him. Same reason. Mike is absolutely right about that. Sale was the 2nd ranked pitcher in the class IIRC, and was rated 4th overall. He fell to 13 because of signing/money reasons but the White Sox negotiated with him by promising him major league time right away.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) Nope, Nope, Nope. And I'm sure Kyle is going to come in here and get on me for talking in absolutes. But NOBODY was watching those teams consistently. I won't say every night. It would be damn near impossible to watch EVERY game of any season. But I don't want to hear it. The Bulls from 99 to I think it was '05 ( or what year was it that they made the playoffs under Skiles the first time?). They were Charlotte Bobcats bad. Oh my goodness. I still remember when Corey Bengamin and Khalid El-Amin got starts. You all are liars. The truth will set you free. K.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 01:44 PM) No. Like EVERY other Bulls fans in the world, when the dynasty broke up and they went to winning 20 games a season, I simply forgot about them. I didn't jump on the Shaq/Kobe bandwagon or anything. But I'm not going to pretend (and you or anybody else here shouldn't either) that I was sitting in front of the TV watching those Elton Brand-led, Floyd/Cartwright coached teams every night. They had a couple good seasons with Hinrich/Gordon/Deng/etc then quickly reverted back to irrelevance. They inexplicably won the lottery in '08, hired thibs two years ago and here they are. I'm still getting used to them being a factor again. I don't think the organization has done anything amazing. If they hadn't won the lottery, they'd be exactly where they were in '08. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 02:05 PM) I didn't say anything about the UC selling out. Basketball will always be a monster in Chicago. You still had the championship aura, MJ statue, the championship banners, etc. I'm talking about watching the games on the tube every night. I'm sorry. I don't buy it. I'm not saying you or anybody else never watched a game or tuned in every now and then. Ron Artest was one of my favorite players at the time and I loved watching him play. But sorry. Nobody was watching those historically bad teams every night. Extremely false, no matter how many times you repeat it. I was just a young teenager when they were winning 13 games a season and still watched as many games as I could. I watched every single draft. s***, I watched all their summer league games.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) I'd bet it's gone by 2014/2015. Highly doubtful.
  12. QUOTE (DashFan @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) Wonder which distractions Paulie is referring to... Probably Kenny Williams.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 04:41 AM) I'm probably alone, but if Peavy wants to talk about being a leader and making 30 starts, truck him out there opening day and let him set the tone. We don't really have a true #1 anyway and you are only a #1 starters once maybe twice during the year. I'm totally with you. If I was the manager, I'm giving Peavy the OD start, no doubt about it. We brought him in to be an ace. Send him out there to be an ace. It'd show him the team and organization still had confidence in him.
  14. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) GLENDALE, Ariz. — To escape his tortured thoughts after last season, Alex Rios returned home to Puerto Rico and dabbled with golf for the first time. Rios guessed he hit the course daily for two months. "I took my head out of it a little bit and wanted a restart,'' the White Sox outfielder recalled Tuesday. "But it was very frustrating. I played every day, but I didn't get any better.'' Proof came in Rios' low score for 18 holes: 126. So breaking 100 would make it a good day for the bad golfer, right? "Definitely,'' Rios said, laughing. -Chicago Tribune Article So you have a terrible year at the plate...what should I do to fix my swing....i know, I'll play golf! Just what we needed more lazy fly balls from Rios. And how terrible is it that he cant even improve his game, the athlete he is, to a decent level after playing for 2 months? 126 is an average of 7 per hole. You can buy the nicest golf clubs and play any course you want, are a world class professional athlete, you play for 60 straight days, and cant shoot in the low 100s? Alex Rios, congrats, you are my least favorite White Sox player in history. I have no hope you will turn it around, because you lack the ability to adjust. To say you are a professional athlete is a disgrace to professional athletes. What a waste. Just awful. My mind is officially boggled.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) Yeah, because Stan has made any good moves since taking over. Stop being a homer. I think you're overreacting. Oddly enough, I think some fans were spoiled my Tallon and his spending. Everyone wanted to make the big splashes in FA and get the Brad Richards type, but had he done that and strapped the Hawks financially, he'd be getting similar backlash for not being able to add much at the deadline. This was a seller's market. There are only a few teams who really know they're out of it. A couple weeks ago, everyone though ANA and CGY would blow it all up, and now look. CBJ was pretty much the only team selling outright. Gaustad was traded for a 1st rounder. The prices on these guys were sky-high. I applaud Bowman for not overpaying. Hell, Dallas asked for Brandon Saad in return for Grossman. This team is more than capable of winning the Stanley Cup, just like everyone thought for the first half of the season. Their top priority was to add a d-man. They did that. What they need to do know is move Sharp back to C where he is more than capable of playing. You can't blame Bowman for the regression and inconsistency of Corey Crawford. You can't blame Bowman for Patrick Kane not being Patrick Kane for most of the year. You can't blame Bowman for Duncan Keith and Bryan Bickell forgetting how to play hockey. Frolik/Salak for Skille, at one point, looked like an incredible steal. And I still think it is. You look at how much of a contributor Frolik was last year and you expect him to continue progressing and be an even bigger part of the team this season. Remember how great the Frolik/Bolland/Bickell line was? The only thing I think Bowman can truly be blamed for is dumping Campbell's contract and then replacing him more wisely. Leddy will be a fine d-man in this league, but he's 20 years old and has lots of room to grow. I thought the addition of Brunette in the offseason would pay off much more than it has so far. Ditto Montador.
  16. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 01:06 AM) King's great. He's enthusiastic and playful. King doesn't pout. He doesn't leave the booth during a tough quarter. He doesn't correct Funk. He doesn't treat Funk as if he knows nothing or is disinterested. Hawk tends to be depressing, angry and bitter. When we're bad, watching baseball becomes a chore. I also find Hawk disingenuous. He doesn't really tell it like it is. I'll continue to watch every game I can. I just take Hawk with an Elston Avenue factory of salt. Have you ever heard the opinions of non-Bulls fans on Funk/King? They are incredibly biased, especially when it comes to officiating.
  17. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Feb 25, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) That changeup at the 50 second mark is fooling no one. It's one pitch, viewed from a less-than-optimal angle. What are you getting at with this post?
  18. Scott Snodgress 9/20/1989 6'5, 210 2011 5th Rd pick (171 overall) - Stanford 2011 Stats at Great Falls (R+): 16 G 12 GS 3-3 Record 3.34 ERA 59.1 IP 61 H 68 K 17 BB 1.31 WHIP 32 R 22 ER 5 HR Ranked #18 on MLB.com's list of Top 20 White Sox prospects. Their scouting report: He's ranked #19 in FutureSox's Top 25 prospects list: He was much better a SP than he was in 4 RP appearances: SP: 51 IP, 2.98 ERA, 51 H, 27 R, 17 ER, 55 K, 13 BB, .313 AVG RP: 8 IP, 5.63 ERA, 10 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 13 K, 4 BB, .254 AVG Only made 9 starts in his 3 years at Stanford. His first win came on 8/18 last season where he started and pitched 6 no-hit innings as part of a combined no-hitter. LINK Compared to his 2011 stats at Stanford, it seems as though he was really able to improve his control in Winston Salem. 28 BB in 31 IP at Stanford, 17 BB in 59.1 IP at WS.
  19. Gilmore is 23 years old heading into the 2012 season. Last year in AA: 50 G, .283 AVG, .351 OBP, 3 HR, 28 RBI, 13 2B, 1 3B, 32 K, 18 BB, 19 R, .768 OPS He's a 3B prospect, but played primarily 1B in Birmingham.
  20. Last time I checked, an injured ankle shouldn't hinder your ability to see the plate and draw walks, and as far as baseball SKILLS go, that's what Mitchell was known for. Definitely too early to write him off, but certainly hopes are dwindling. Based off the MLB.com list, I'm intrigued with Snodgress.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Might get a few fun answers here: I'm going to be re-starting my jersey collection here soon and was debating on the first two that I should buy. Right now I'm thinking Rose and Sale. Any suggestions? No collection is complete without the Black Jordan w/ Red Pinstripes.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) But what about strictly for baseball? To be perfectly honest, I haven't really heard all that many broadcast duo's other than the White Sox pair. Many would argue Vin Scully is awfully dull and bland but he's a legend. Baseball is weird. Of national baseball guys (that I can think of) I really like what Jon Miller and Gary Thorne do. Joe Buck is God awful, and so is Brenneman. Kenny Albert is meh. Unfortunately, I've had to put up with a LOT of Mario Impemba and Rod Allen, the Detroit Tigers TV guys on FSN Detroit. And IMO, they are WAY worse than Hawk and Stoney. Rod Allen tries so badly to be the Stacey King of baseball and it just sounds dumb. His analysis is worthless. Impemba is just there.
