  1. Surprised this hasn't been brought up yet. I'm planning gift ideas for the family right now. Mom gets the grand prize: a new kitchen floor. Dad get's Starbucks k-cups and some outdoor gear. Younger sister gets 17 seconds DVD and a Hawks shirsey. Grandpa gets some sweet Cabela's house slippers. No idea what to get my grandma or my older (33) sister.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Family drama is the best. My mom had a huge falling out with her family a few years back and now the same thing is happening with my dad and his family and I'm getting bombarded with phone calls because of it. It always starts over stupid s*** too, just leave me out of it. Sorry to hear that. I know the feeling of being caught in the middle and being a liaison. It's annoying and unfair.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) Winstons speech all about the incident. How dumb. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 09:07 PM) That was the last thing he needed to be talking about right now. WTF? I get that people think I'm an idiot for backing Winston, but what the hell else was he supposed to do? People are going to say and/or think things about him anyway. He handled that incredibly well. If his speech was "all about the incident" then you're hearing what you want to hear. He brings up the allegations, he's dumb. If he doesn't say a thing about it, he's going to get ripped for ignoring it. That's ridiculous. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) What facts? EXACTLY.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) His DNA on her, blood in her panties, and her claim that it was rape should have been enough for a charge. Let a grand jury decide. The prosecutor took the law in his hands here and she unfortunately has no recourse other than a civil action. I don't think they ever said anything about blood in her panties.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 10:26 AM) Going away from the Illinois discussion for a second... I'll go on record and say that I completely think Winston raped the victim and I can't believe he wasn't charged with anything. This whole thing stinks. I feel like I'm watching a future 30 for 30 episode while it's happening. How FSU and the authorities were able to cover up and keep their Heisman QB eligible so they could go on to win a national championship. Between the awkward, laughing press conference, the piece Rock put in here, and now listening to "the victim's" attorney's press conference - there's way too much smoke here. I can't help but feel that this is a giant cover-up. This went away way too quickly, and there's way too many inconsistencies and oddities here. The problem with this is that it's so UNLIKE Jameis Winston. Now, obviously, we don't know the guy personally, but from all accounts (recruiting stories, HS and FSU coaches, teammates, media members) pretty much anyone who has ever come in contact with JW lauds how mature he is, how he's a great guy, a great leader, always laughing and joking, and has great character. That doesn't mean he can't make a stupid mistake, but I have a hard time believing it. Plus, the timing of when this went public is ridiculously suspect, and the attorney of the accuser today just threw out accusation after accusation about things being tampered with, deleted, who was or was not there, etc.
  6. http://mlb.mlb.com/search/media.jsp?player_id=594809 MLB video page for Adam Eaton. He's got a .381 OBP in the bigs against LHP. Really seems to sit back on offspeed stuff.
  7. My buddy from Arizona: "He's going to be an absolute stud. Guy can hit for average, steal bases, is patient, and will be a great lead off hitter. (Juan Pierre when he was good with more HR)"
  8. Interesting (but not surprising) that these talks started with ARI asking for Sale. Probably went something like this: Towers: "Hey, we'd really like to bring Chris Sale to Arizona." Hahn: "Sure, let's start with Archie Bradley, Tyler Skaggs and Adam Eaton." Towers: "Ya know....let's explore some other options."
  9. Rosenthal: One PTBN from #Angels, one from #WhiteSox to #DBacks in 3-team deal. Angels' player eligible for Rule 5 draft. White Sox's guy might be too
  10. FWIW, all the MiLB guys I know who have seen Eaton play in person have been raving about him.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) Why do you hunt with a gun? Seems to take the sport out of it. Because you still have to be accurate and you can shoot something 400+ yards out.
  12. @nickpiecoro Source says the three-team deal is done. Dbacks will be getting Trumbo and two players to be named later, Eaton to White Sox, Skaggs and Santiago to Angels.
  13. I know all the attention has been on Jameis and the offense, but people really underestimate the Noles defense. They are big, strong, fast, and have a lot of depth. They're allowing under 11 points per game all season. Meanwhile, Auburn doesn't have anything that even resembles a defense. And according to Vegas, FSU is a 10 point favorite at the moment.
  14. I'm 23. Which means I'm the Michael Jordan. Suck it, SoxTalk.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) I think that ship sailed a long time ago, maybe he had it on straight in the WHL but that's about it. He'll be a decent AHL player for them. I did catch some of the game Friday, Rockford up to their usual antics...give Dent credit for telling two of them to f*** off early. He was way worse in the WHL than he ever has been in the AHL.
  16. So apparently there are people out there who believe Auburn will romp Florida State?
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 10:19 PM) Just realized that FSU in the title game means the most annoying thing in sports: that stupid "song" 1000000000000 times. f*** You must really hate the Atlanta Braves too. FSU vs Auburn. Cannot wait. I like FSU's chances. They should be able to score a bunch on Auburn, and their defense is good enough to not allow 600 rushing yards. So long as Jamies doesn't make any mistakes, we should be ok. What an awesome day of football. Kelvin Benjamin >>>
  18. I hope the Rangers (or someone) give him a chance. I know what he can do when his head is on straight. I'm rooting for him. Still has so much talent.
  19. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 06:17 PM) I've got a perhaps really dumb question...let's face it, all my posts in this thread have been dumb....I've got some old school dumbbells where you load the weight yourself, can I put a 25 on one side and a 15 on the other? tried doing 25s on both and I can only do a few reps when trying the overhead press. I don't have 4 20s otherwise I'm sure I can rep those out. I'm not an expert on this specific question, but I'd strongly advise against it. I feel as though uneven weight distribution wouldn't really lead to anything good. It would be very likely that you can hurt your form when working out with an uneven distribution. And I'm sure that the uneven weight would effect the muscle group you're trying to target.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) Based on what is publicly known, I can't say the last 2 parts there, because everything points to there being zero physical evidence, it's just a he-said she-said case. If it was a rape...the accuser made sure the case couldn't be prosecuted by waiting a year to go to the police. Any physical damage or even circumstantial testimony is so old there you can't bring charges. The only way there could have been charges is if there was some evidence no one knew about or some witness no one knew about. From what I understand, she went to the police that night (or morning). The 11 month delay before any legal proceedings happened irks me. The timing of it all is very suspect. When this even happened, Winston was a redshirt who no one in the country knew about other than as a top HS recruit. Then he hits the big time, gets in the national spotlight, and boom - he raped me.
  21. That was a really, really weird press conference. As an FSU fan, I'm glad the case is closed. As a human, this all sucks. And Florida is f***ed up.
  22. Winston won't be charged with anything. And now we can get back to football.
  23. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 09:16 AM) Makes more sense now that you've explained it. I thought that you lived way up north, so I figured rotting wouldn't be a problem. Shotgun season is now over here in Indiana. Got a buck 30 minutes into opening day, then the last day I see two monster bucks that I'm not allowed to legally shoot.... That's always how it goes. That sucks. Shotgun season just opened back up in Illinois today. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it this year. There are some monster bucks where we hunt. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) If you hadn't taken that first one, you would have never seen the last two. My brother-in-law did the exact opposite of you last year - saw a nice buck the first day - but he didn't shoot, assuming he'd see another good one later. Nope. Take the first good one you see. So true. But every so often, you get lucky. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 08:22 AM) Every year a few deer are injured and are able to elude even the best trackers. Assuming you took a shot clearly within your ability level I wouldn't beat yourself up too much over it. There are a couple vegans here and I appreciate their position on hunting animals. Our corporate ranching isn't humane for making those burgers. The vasy majority of humans on this planet at carnivors. Killling animals is something we do with great frequency. We've lost touch with our food supply when we aren't willing to kill an animal ourselves. How many here would be willing to take an orange traffic cone, flip it upside down, jam a chicken's head through the opening and cut off the head, clean, and cook the bird? Yet we can enjoy those chicken nuggets. One of the biggest mistakes a hunter can make is hurry to find a deer that they have just shot. If you didn't drop it right on the spot, it's going to run. If it's not dead yet and you walk up on it, it'll get up and run for days, meaning you will never find it. Thankfully I've never had that issue, nor ever seen it happen to any of the hunters I know. I've never had a deer run more than 40 yards from where I shot it.
