GAME THREAD 7-19-05 SOX vs Tigers

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Yah, Schmidt knows how to locate his pitches to the tune of a 4.80 ERA in a PITCHERS league in a PITCHERS park. I can't believe what I'm reading tonight. its amazing. What has lead you to believe that Contreras is a good pitcher? -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) Well then you are thinking about what you've heard in the media and in past years rather than what is going on in real likfe this year. Jose has crushed Schmidt this year performance wise. Lemme see, uuuum no. Contreras pitches on a good team that bails out their pitchers. Schmidt plays on a s***ty team littered with injuries and that doesn't back up their pitcher. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) And you are nuts. Jose has pitched 10 times better than Schmidt this year, and it's not really even close. Contreras. Blows. Ass. Schmidt. Doesn't. At least Schmidt has some confidence. At least Schmidt knows how to locate his pitches. At least Schmidt uses more than 2 pitches. At least Schmidt knows how to pitch in the post-season. At least Schmidt can calm himself down when getting in a jam. At least Schmidt can pitch out of a jam. At least Schmidt isn't a pussy headcase who loses ALL confidence when pitching out of the stretch. At least Schmidt is a smart pitcher. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Burnett's Road ERA in a pitcher's league = 3.80 Contreras' Road ERA in a hitter's league = 3.50 Burnett pitches in a pitcher's park. Jose pitches in a hitter's park. I would not give up Contreras and Marte for Burnett. Contreras still blow's ass. I am fed up with his pussy s***. He is such a f***ing headcase with no f***ing confidence that it is sickening. No, Count/Marte for Burnett is a s***ty trade, I agree. But I would do Schmidt for COunt/Shingo/BMac in 1 f***ing second. I would do that trade WHILE Count is pitching as a real "f*** You, You Suck Ass!" -
Right now, I am honestly willing to trade Count, BMac, and Shingo for 1 1/2 seasons of Jason Schmidt....as long as we getr this piece of s*** Contreras out of this f***ing city.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) The more I think about Contreras, the more I dislike him. I don't like anything about the guy. Can't stand to watch him pitch, can't stand how he wastes his talent, can hardly stand to think about him pitching (especially in a game with any pressure). Since he's been in the league, he's been a piece of work. He signed a contract with the Yankees while staying in a room paid for by the Red Sox. Struggles, then is reunited with his family...continues to struggle. Moves to a basically pressure-free team and struggles. Hasn't learned how to pitch in 40 years on earth, but somehow makes like 8 million dollars a year. Escapes from Castro's communist regime, but somehow still lacks balls. I can't even force myself to like this guy, even though I still wish he'd do well. But, I wish even more that he'll be traded for someone that will help us more. Sorry, had to get that off my chest. I have been thinking the same thing... -

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) I took in this stray kitten, and I was going to give her away. But she's kind of growing on me (aside from the clawings during medicine time). Skankadora???? ANyways, I hate cats. I'm allergic.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) it could backfire, because technically they were using it before you, so you might have to pay up. Damn.... :Turns head, puts hand to lower jaw, thinks:

Go for it. He's better than Shingo. Wasn't he on the Sox a few years back???
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Who's set to make a hefty sum after this season. To much damn money for a one dimensional player. We should make a push for Overbay in the offseason. Overbay would be the s*** in a Sox uni. OMG I'd be happy as hell!
-
I'd be interested depending on date...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) Ross Gload will not be the Sox starting first baseman in 2005, mark my words. Even if Paul Konerko does not come back, Kenny Williams will go out and get a real first baseman. I agree. I think PK will be the starting 1B in 2005. 2006.....I'm not sure yet.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) Wow, great job SoxFan1 and thanks for updating my sig DePloderer. I think I'll go back to it soon. Test: Looks real good, especially if you really did do it fast. As for best image person on this site, my vote goes towards DePloderer. Goldmember has obviously been here a bit longer, but DePloderer has some serious skills. No problem...

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) you should sue... I could get serious money! They used my face without my consent!

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) you're too late, i already made him one

QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) This sure does setup for the Meuller trade. To the Sox????

LH Bats: Adam Dunn, Jim Thome, Aubrey Huff These are the only 3 that come to mind that could possible be available. Now, about Jeff Weaver, if we could get him super cheap for just like 1 or 2 prospects, it is definitely worth it. He could be a spot starter, 5th starter, or long reliever. Vizquel on the other hand, has wowed me lately. He's like 38 and last night, I watched him play defense against the Braves like he would have when he was 25. The man is still a machine. I didn't see any of his AB's but his defense is amazing....STILL.

Holy s***! I'm the Campbell's Soup kid!

I whipped this up real quick, nothing special:

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) No offense to Deploderer but Goldy's work is far better. Of course Goldy's work is better than everybody's. Goldmember is by far the best I've ever seen. I gotta agree. Deploderers work is top notch but Goldmember and Mr. Showtime are better imo.
