QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) Unless they are Floridating us, then we just won't know how to use a ballot or drive in the left lane without having a turn signal remaining on while driving under the speed limit. Well if that's the way you feel about us, I'm revoking your invitation to come visit us at Del Boca Vista Phase II.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 31, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) The last surivor of the Titanic died today at 97. It's ironic because a friend of mine and I were talking about her a few days ago. It was sad to see her in the news recentlt selling Titanic mementos so she could pay for her elder care.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 31, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) I feel bad that he has to deal with that crazy broad. She doesnt seem like she is ready to admit what she did any time in the near future Don't feel too bad. He'll write a tell-all book about his time with the Bat$hit Crazy Anthony Family some time in the future and he'll be set.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ May 29, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) The yellow imperfection would make sense if they explained it as they did in Geoff Johns' GL: Rebirth tpb. Is that where it was revealed that the Parallax entity has been trapped in the power battery so long its true nature is lost to memory, until it' simply called the necessary yellow impurity? Yeah, I can take that kind of stuff in comics because I grew up on 'em, and writers had to pull stuff out of their arses all the time to come up with new stories every month. The problem is how to take years of comic book canon - some of it completely stupid but enjoyable - and translate it into 90 minutes of film that satisfies the comic purists but doesn't come off as moronic to normal people.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ May 29, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) Just started reading John Dies At The End by David Wong. Holy crap this book is wonderful so far! I wonder what the hell happens to John at the end of the book.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 29, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) If I were a server at an Asian restaurant and an adult ordered a glass of milk with their meal, I would be inclined to shove a chopstick in their eye socket. Yeah, you have to respect the lactose intolerance of an entire continent and keep any and all dairy products off of Asian cuisine. Coconut milk and soy are perfectly fine alternatives. A grad student friend thought she had hit on a million dollar idea when she set out to pursue reduced-lactose dairy products for Asian consumers under the brand name Cheese For China. Didn't work and now she grows fish for a living.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) Ya, King of the Hill was stellar. I'm sad its gone. I get KOTH reruns at 11:30 every weeknight to remind me what a solid show it was.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) I just flip the reality switch off when I go watch comic movies, its no use getting worked up over it. Superman is hurt by a shiny green rock, and GL thinks that yellow doesnt go well with the shoes he is wearing, it is what it is Compared to yellow, kryptonite seems like an entirely plausible vulnerability, go figure. Even as a kid the yellow thing bugged me but I ate the comics up anyway. These days, he might be better off with Alan Scott's original wood vulnerability seeing as less and less stuff is actually made out of wood.

QUOTE (Cali @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) I attempted to watch the Goode Family last night, I could only get through about 10 mins of it.... So bad (no pun intended) The jokes were cringeworthy. After the line: "WWAGD? What Would Al Gore Do?" I was out. Mike Judge peaked with King of the Hill Watched for around 10 minutes as well, but had to bail when the topic turned to sex and my kids were in the room. Definitely stereotyped and often cringe-worthy jokes, but as a Greenie I kind of enjoyed being poked fun of in good humor. I can't see the showing having any type of longevity though - maybe it's only meant to be a summer season replacement so they have to fit 500 obvious jokes and quips into a limited amount of time.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:05 PM) I think so. Nathan Fillion was considered for the role, but I read that he was considered to be too old for the role because they want to go young. Which is a shame, because Fillion is almost perfect casting I hope it gets done, and I hope it's good. GL and Flash are my all-time favorite Silver Age DC characters, and a sweeping GL story with the Corps, Guardians, OA, etc., would be great. That said, how does a movie aimed at people with 21st century sensibilities keep a straight face while portraying the color yellow as a believable weakness for a superhero with otherwise limitless power? I remember Jon Stewart at one time being looked at for a GL role in something, but I can't remember what. Kind of a funny irony that Jon Stewart would make a good Hal Jordan, but couldn't pull off a John Stewart.

That trailer is really well done. The guardians heads need to be bigger (They just look like blue-skinned Joe Liebermans here), the Tomar-Re, Abin Sur, and Kilowog likenesses were really good. Is the actual GL live-action film still slated to begin filming later this year?

Thanks all for cheering me onward in the inevitable race toward death.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) Did you just start a Star Wars vs. Star Trak battle? You don't wanna travel down that road. What the hell is Star Trak?

QUOTE (almagest @ May 26, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) The first two or three were good, then they just got really really weird. Yeah I made it through the first Harry Keogh series, but couldn't get into the space opera aspect of the vampire planet and the battle between Harry's sons. Maybe I'll get back to them one day and try again.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 23, 2009 -> 05:49 AM) Another solid vampire book, for those of you into that sort of thing, is The Historian....good stuff. I've taken a look at this and I'll probably like it when get a chance to read it. I used to eat up all the trashy vampire stuff (books, movies, comics, whatever) when I had the time. Occasionally I'd be surprised at the quality of some of the stuff - the first couple Lumley Necroscope books, for instance.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 23, 2009 -> 12:02 AM) Those two are writers for the Office so this thing has a lot of potential. Meh, old Bill Murray, fat Dan Aykroyd, and past-her-expiration-date Sogourney Weaver just don't add up to a good Ghostbusters installment.

I'm hoping Kid G will keep us updated on if/when this gets picked up for distribution. I really want to give it a look. Hollywood eyes $70 zombie movie wowing Cannes
