QUOTE (juddling @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 06:28 PM) For those who care about such things....from Entertainment Weekly.com Bradley Cooper may star as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck and Liam Neeson as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith in 20th Century Fox's long-awaited movie adaptation of '80s action series The A-Team, Variety reports. Joe Carnahan is already set to direct, with production beginning in late August for a June 2010 release. Faceman is the role originally played by Dirk Benedict; Hannibal was George Peppard's character. The script will retain the series' premise -- four war vets wrongly convicted of armed robbery escape from military prison to carry out Robin Hood-like missions -- but will hew closer to a Mission: Impossible tone. The roles of "Howling Mad" Murdock and "B.A." Baracus are yet to be cast. The film industry really is out of original ideas, aren't they.
  2. QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) Taking the suggestion, I decided to pick one up myself. Damn good! Not a normal quad but I love it. This was after a Flying Dog Gonzo Porter, and Pennichuck Firefighter Schwartzbier. Good stuff. The Flying Dog Porter is always a nice beer. Or as HST said, "good beer, no $hit". The schwarzbier sounds intriguing (an under-appreciated style for sure), and I know Pennichuck has some won some GABF medals for their Oktoberfest. But I don't think a bottle of their stuff has ever come further south than New York so I've not had a chance to try it.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) I agree he should be burned at the stake, but only because he is helping to keep that original piece of crap alive. Lord, I HATED that book. I will never understand why that thing is so beloved. :o Catcher in the Rye is one of my top 5 all time favorite books.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/04/09/dis...p-through-2012/ They have plenty of original stuff in there as well as TS3. Although I would have liked to see a Bugs Life 2 before I saw a Toy Story 3, but it doesnt matter to me because I dont think they watered down Toy Story 2 anyways TS2 was decent enough, but I think sequels for Pixar is just wasted time. From that link I see they'll also be doing a Cars 2. I'm about the biggest Pixar fan there is, but to me the sequels are totally unnecessary.

Up was really excellent. And I'm now convinced that I'd rather see something original from Pixar and not a third Toy Story.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 01:10 AM) Sometime we'll have to hang out so you can get me smashed off of one drink. Yeah, some of those classic cocktails are downright dangerous (but tasty). Sometimes I'm astounded that bars served these up in massive quantities without their patrons all wrapping their cars around trees on the drive home.
  7. Going to cheat a little because I only had one drink tonight so I'm not technically drunk — but damn, what a drink! Mixed up a circa 1965 Boo Loo from Beachbum Berry's Grog Log. Lots of nice tropical juices and honey, offset by 4.5(!) ounces of rum, including 1.5 oz each of Demerera (I used El Dorado Dark, being fresh out of the 5-year) and gold (used Cruzan 2 year), and 0.75 oz each of Coruba and Cruzan 151 (recipe calls for Lemon Hart 151, which you pretty much have to go to NY or LA for). What a drink! Glad the only place I have to navigate to this evening is my bedroom.
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 12:42 AM) Speaking of Mediterranean food, this brings up something I was talking about with Milkman the other day. It's really hard to find a gyro place outside of Chicago. Over there, they are a dime a dozen, even in the suburbs. This probably goes for New York too. They might have some down in DC, but in Maryland, I can only think of one place, and it's a good 20 minute drive away. Fortunately I have a great gyro joint just up the road from me, and then very few other palatable options for miles in any direction. Still, I miss going to Greek Town and ordering a gyro with extra tzaziki sauce and having the counter guy shout back to the kitchen, "One gyro platter with extra jizz!"

QUOTE (juddling @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) i thought i read somewhere that it was partially HER idea. if it was just one movie then (like usual) they would have to have cut out a bunch of stuff. A book/movie wrapping up the series you don't want anything left out. Yes, reading up on it now I see it has her approval. I'd still rather they just released a single 3- to 40-hour final installment ala' the LOTR installments, but I guess this is the best way to get some of Book 7 without having to wait until Summer 2011.
  10. Our Middle Eastern hookah bar just closed, sadly. The local college has a large international student population and our local Mediterranean eatery and grocery sells water pipes and lots of tobacco flavors. It is an enjoyable way to spend an evening every once in a while.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) They're about a third of the way through filming right now. They split the book into two films (greed is good?), and it looks like they're shooting both together. Really?!!? I can't believe JK was cool with that decision.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 02:08 AM) I'm definitely excited. No shame in that at all. It will be good to see Half-Blood Prince finally come out, but I really wish it had been ready for a November 2008 release like they had been planned. Have they even started production on Deathly Hallows? It's going to be really hard believing Harry and co. are 17 by the time that one comes out.
  14. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) Sonic's food, I 100% agree with BS's comment - it's subpar - and that's probably being generous. However, for some reason, I am seriously addicted to their cherry coke's. They have a really good fizzy coke mixture. Their cherry Cokes are good, and their cherry lime-aid is outstanding. I agree most of the rest of their non-ice cream food is bleh, but I have a soft spot (and a fat ass) for their Coney dogs. Sometimes you're in a drive-in mood, and Sonic is pretty much the only one still around.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 03:00 AM) I'm surprised at all the MacGruber hate. I personally think it's one of the very few funny things SNL has done in recent years. I don't even watch SNL anymore b/c of how awful it is, but I'll watch MacGruber clips on Hulu. 2 minute digital shorts are one thing, and it helps if you're familiar with the McGuyver source material to get the 80s attire etc. But, do you think the joke can be sustained over the course of a 90-minute movie?? Really bad idea.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 10:12 AM) I dont know about you, but when I saw the preview and Slinky dog talked, that was definitely Jim Varneys voice, and if it wasnt a very close imitator. I wonder if they used old sound clips of him for the character and kept the speaking roles down for him? I haven't checked out the clip yet. I assume Jim Varney ala' Slinky Dog and Ernest is a pretty easy voice to impersonate. I have mixed feelings about another Toy Story. Toy Story 2 was a decent enough film, but with all of Pixar's stuff being so original I really like the fact that they haven't gone the easy route and just gone into sequel mode on the other franchise films.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) I can't wait to see UP! I'm looking forward to TOY STORY 3, but Slinky jst won't be quite the same as he was in the past. I know what you mean, Vern.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) Then you'll be happy to see that on msn.com right now on the front page are links to an article on "A Day in the Life of President Obama" as well as a video of "Grabbing burgers with Obama" My daughter was stoked because it turns out the President gets exactly the same topping on his Five Guys burger as she does.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) I don't think I've ever laughed at that character, its just not funny. A movie? Seriously? Yes, this is going to make Ladies Man, Superstar, and Roxburry look like good movie ideas by comparison. How about cutting to the chase and doing that Toonces the Cat Who Could Drive a Car movie you know they're dying to do?
  21. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) I am not trying to promote anyone to bring pornographic material here but someone I know has a dvd that he claims there is a women who has teeth that snaps within her vagina. This dvd supposedly has her in action snapping "things". Freaking brutal and I would never watch something crazy like that but has anyone ever seen this stuff? It has to be bulls***,right? What a coincidence! I was just starting to wonder what had become of my ex-girlfriend.

It's not even a question whether or not he's going to take the advice. If you ask SoxTalk for personal advice you are then legally bound to follow proffered advice to the latter without question.
