  1. Outstanding episode. I loved the end. "Bret, are you practicing Paul Simon solo material?" "No," says Bret, with his hair cut short like Paul Simon and a group of African musicians in full garb behind him. Oh, and the Asian karaoke tune was absolutely brilliant.
  2. How about some economic recession humor?
  3. QUOTE (mreye @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) We were supposed to go on a 5 day Caribbean cruise until my wife went and got herself pregnant. You can still go - you'll just have to do the drinking for the both of you. Tough job, but. . .

    Amazing Story

    Spit Take!! :lolhitting
  5. Jason and Kap are reading this thread and drinking heavily because they realize running the site is like a life sentence without possible parole. As always, thanks for your dedication to the site from all us lazy parasites.
  6. That's great. I bet she barely beat out her neighbor, Amanda Hugginhold.
  7. QUOTE (The Critic @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 03:40 AM) I liked the Police, but wouldn't rank them with my favorites. Had a chance at tickets to see the reunion tour but passed. If Husker Du reunited you couldn't keep me away. The Police reunion show I saw in May was one of the best arena shows I ever saw. All in all, I probably liked it better than the Synchronicity concert 25 years ago. Elvis Costello as an opener was none too shabby either, of course. A Husker Du reunion would be great, but I doubt Bob and Grant could make it through an entire tour without killing each other.
  8. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) Did you enjoy working for Deloitte? They are really popular here and I have heard some good things about them, but not from anybody who has really worked for them. I heard they're a bunch of Touchebags.
  9. QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 08:18 AM) And by study, he means drinking a lot of beer. You are Correct, Sir!
  10. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 04:36 AM) My favorites: Dinosaur Jr. The Police Nirvana SRV and Double Trouble Police For sure. . . how the hell did I leave them off my list?? I just listened to the first Dinosaur Jr. record for the first time in years. What a great album.
  11. Fock. Ted Fockin' Nugent can eat my a$$!
  12. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) and Jim this is my dream WBA That would be very cool. I always wanted to go to Siebel as well. I remember them closing the doors on most of their educational offerings a few years ago, so it's nice to see them wih some of that back in place. A friend down here graduated from Siebel back in the early 1990s and then did an internship at Winekellar in Berwyn before it burned down and closed. He came back and started brewing a killer Bavarian weiss out of a local brewery that unfortunately folded a few years ago as well. I should have taken the BJCP exam years ago and never got around to it. I'm about 75% sure I could take it cold and pass, but the geek in me would decide to spend months studying for it anyway.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) www.fmylife.com That is an insanely funny website. I never new it existed - thanks for sharing!
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) This fish sees through its own head because it has transparent bones. Nature is stranger than fiction once again. http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2009/02...d-eyed_fish.php Isn't that thing something else? There are a couple of good YouTube videos of these guys as well. My brain hurts trying to think about what sorts of intermediate forms make up the evolutionary sequence leading to this animal.
  15. BS - Ecology, Ethology and Evolution PhD - Biological Sciences - Experimental Marine Ecology All of that is mere child's play though. What I really want to work on is my BJCP certification.
  16. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) Oh, REM too. Post Bill Berry I guess REM is a trio, but they record and tour with hired guns on drums, so I decided not to include them. Then again, I included XTC who also uses session drummers, so I'll shut up.
  17. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) Alright let's have it, your all time favorite 3 piece band. Go. Hendrix Experience Dave Gregory-era XTC Material Issue Cream CSN Rush SRV and Double Trouble
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) Jemain's fake beard had me rolling. "Yeah, sometimes I glue it on. . . if I'm pressed for time." I loved when Bret thought the dogs were dancing after the strobes sent them into seizures.
  19. This completely sucks. NASA satellite crashes minutes after launch I just heard an NPR piece yesterday talking about how many million measurements the satellite would make every week, and it sounded like it would have yielded a lot of urgently needed data. $273 million project, damn.

    Homework Help

Hell, DNA evidence should be about the only forensic evidence utilized. Ballistics, traditional fingerprinting, toxicological reverse-engineering, splatter pattern analysis are all hogwash compared with the certainty that DNA evidence can provide. Sample integrity and investigator accreditation/credibility remain issues, of course, but if intact sample evidence is retrieved from a crime scene, DNA testing is going to be as good as it gets for determining the originator of that sample.
  21. I'm convinced that past generations had it all over the more recent generations in terms of their ability to consume large quantities of stiff drinks. I made myself a traditional Manhattan tonight, with Old Overholt rye, sweet vermouth, a dash of bitters and a cocktail cherry garnish. As classic and elegant a cocktail as ever there was, and a real nice sipper. But damn, this is a helluva strong drink. I remember my grandfather and my 90-lb grandmother knocking these things back poolside like nobody's business on family vacations. If I had two of these I think I'd be laid out on the floor. The Greatest Generation indeed.
  22. Don't you think it would have been a better PR move if Microsoft just ate this loss? Story Link
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) Friday's have very underrated boneless wings. Well actually they have an all around awesome, underrated menu. Our Friday's had an awesome turkey club that they took off the menu so I don't go much any more.
  24. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) Actual quote from CNN.com: "New research shows that, in men, the brain areas associated with handling tools and the intention to perform actions light up when viewing images of women in bikinis." http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/02/19/women...ref=mpstoryview The article does not elaborate upon the specific "tools" to be handled or the "actions" intended to be performed. Who knew, "Man I'd like to drill her!" was such a literal desire.
