Listening to Momofuku, the new Elvis Costello release, and really digging it. Lots of great latter-day melodic Costello, but also some great stuff that would have sounded right at home on an Attractions album. The organ parts on American gangster Time in particular sound like they could have come off of This Year's Model. It's an album that is going to take several listenings to really digest, but I quite like it so far.

unbelievable. And I passd up on a night out drinking margaritas for this?? -
Depending on how much you have (like a truckload or two maybe), you should be able to put up a sign advertising free clean fill and folks will probably be happy to haul it away for you. if you don't have enough to make it worth anybody's effort to take you might have to rent a small dumpster to get it carted off.

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) The gerbil is scared of the dark . . . :lolhitting

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:21 AM) Ever see "Brokeback Mountain"? I've been in love with Gyllenhaal ever since. ewww.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 5, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) Hey FlaSoxxJim, Uncle Frank and his candle say "hi!". Uncle Frank is stalking me. I'm flattered.
-
QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) Having never chewed on a candle, I did not notice an analogy. Sometime you will have to tell us your candle chewing story I see, you like to keep your candles up the other end, eh? I'm not judging, mind you. I know when I get to be as old as you, I'll probably take whatever I can get too.

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) Again, it isn't one I would think of right after thinking, I'd like a beer. No, but right after thinking, I'd like to chew on a candle, I'm sure it would be just the thing. B)

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) Another beer based beverage that fits that category. My gf enjoyed it, but I was disappointed because I was expecting more of a straight up weiss beer. I drank it later, and found it to be an enjoyable beverage. Tastes like someone put candlewax into a beer to me. It's all a mater of personal taste, but honey remains the one ingredient that I've never been a big fan of in my beers.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) Greatest voice in the history of Rock: Brad Delp. A very solid nomination indeed. Tragic that he decided to cash in. I'd say the other contenders for that title would be: Paul Rogers Steve Perry Not that Bad Company, Journey, or even Boston rank up there in my list of favorite bands, but these guys are, I'd say, the vocalists' vocalist in Rock. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 5, 2008 -> 09:55 AM) My vote would go to Ronnie James Dio and/or Phil Lynott. Big Thin Lizzy fan here, and I agree, Phil was up there as well. Dio makes my brain bleed. I have a low threshold tolerance for metal, admittedly, but I'd say Rob Halford is a better pick as the goldstandard metal vocalist than Dio. QUOTE (knightni @ May 5, 2008 -> 09:59 AM) Did you see that Boston hired some guy from Home Depot to be their lead singer? Say what? Somebody in the know on this site (Critic maybe?) said the new vocalist was the lead singer from Stryper and that he sounded like a train wreck trying to do Boston stuff. Edit: Eh, the guy you are talking about must be this "superfan" Tommy DeCarlo guy I'm seeing on the web. Wow, listening to his {Peace of Mind cover now and it's pretty dang good. Stryper dude can go home now.

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) BTW, I liked the Bud Light Lime the other day. Iced very cold, hanging out at the beach after doing a little surfing. As I explained to a beer purist that was with me, not everything has to taste like a beer. If I drink ice tea, I don't want it tasting like a beer, when I am in the mood for that particular taste, I'd order it again. Same as I jump around the beer aisle with different styles. Hell, I even drink michiladas, boiler makers, etc. A dedicated and knowledgeable beer purist would not agree that "tastes like beer" is even an appropriate phrase, given the vast array of global arrays styles, subcategories and flavors. Then again, I have a hard time believing that a squirt of lime juice would turn Bud Light into anything I'd go out of my way to try. Thinking this Cinco de Mayo is going to be dominated by Negro Modelo and a margarita here and there. Damn, is it 5:00 yet?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 5, 2008 -> 06:59 AM) Yeah, it is pretty close. Reading through that story, there is a lot that happened in the spiderman universe that I had no idea about. Scorpion is now Venom? Eddie Brock isnt? WTF?? Yeah, I gave up on trying to keep up with the continuity of the 76 different monthly Spiderman titles a long time ago.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 4, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) They do it during Broadway productions. What's the difference? There are several, including the amount of money paid for tickets, the demeanor of theatergoers versus the Friday night movie crowd, the fact that there is an intermission in most liv theater productions, etc.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ May 4, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) No doubt about it... a mullet. Mine was less a Joe Dirt mullet and more a Richard Marx feathered nightmare. I looked exactly like this through most of college. :crying

QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) Those suck. Just like Dos Equis. The dark, while no Negro Modelo, is pretty drinkable I think.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 4, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) The best commercial is the Most Interesting Man in the World. Yeah, I like those. Mostly because they remind me of Palehose7's "Grindiest man in the World" take-off.

QUOTE (Mplssoxfan @ May 4, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) I see enormous Dram Shop problems with this. It might work, but it'd be a problem making money. there's also the fundamental disconnect between serving a lobby full of folks a few quick drinks and then expecting those folks to be quiet and respectful during the film.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 4, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) This will probably only interest a few of us here, but there is a new twist in the Spiderman comic book universe, a new character calling himself Anti-Venom http://comics.ign.com/articles/870/870929p1.html Hah, Mcfarlane should be able to sue the cr@p out of them. The mask is almost the exact reverse of Spawn mask.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 4, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) By the way Jim, my uncle Frank told me to say 'hi!' and 'kisses for last night' to you for some reason. Oops. I must be in the wrong thread.

That Chill ad is really annoying, true, but the Subway $5 footlong ads just creep me out. It looks like a bunch of people trying to use sign language to solicit cheap sex with Dirk Diggler.
