  1. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) Chicharones Sounds painful, but I think they make a salve or ointment or something for that.
  2. Joe Sudbay over at Americablog made me chuckle: tee hee hee. At least we can be sure the very principled McCain, Romney, Giuliani, Duncan Hunter. . . and the rest of the GOP knuckleheads won't be confirming this UnAmerican defender of an Iranian front organization any time soon.
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) Which proves that jewish people should eat pork, right? Y'know, cuz with Jesus being jewish and all. Hey, If it's good enough for Krusty and Jesus, it's good enough for all the other Jews too.
  4. Where is this from? If you said John 3:16, of course I will award you partial credit. But more importantly, it is the inscription on the back of the package of delicious Carolina County Snacks® Hot Old Fashioned Fried Fat Back (with skin attached) Pork Crack'lins I'm enjoying here at my desk. The More You Know®
  5. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) I would name it the lighting rod Mighty Mighty Shaft of Lightning overdoing it a bit, then?
  6. QUOTE(juddling @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) Hot swedish woman Jerk.
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) I wish my Professors would give me a research assignment like that. I wish NSF would give me a grant to do research like that.
  8. You left out the most important point of the story though:
  9. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) MTV MTV 8. "Audio Ocho"
  10. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) Pardon me if I don't fall all over myself in praise of Ken Burns. His Jazz documentary left many of us disappointed. Yes, he has talent. Yes he provides a depth to a subject that is rarely seen today. When you tackle mammoth projects like he does, you're sure to have your critics. Burns sometimes falls off the mark, and short of the mark while attempting to do things no one else will do. Agreed on Ken Burns' Jazz being a flawed gem, and also with it being a herculean undertaking that not many filmmakers would have pulled off nearly so well. The companion book co-authored with Geoffrey Ward and the complete audio CD box that came out for Jazz, on the other hand, I think are outstanding.

    QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) I left a condolence message on your machine and you never called back. I was out buying my wife ice cream. I'll be looking for a little sumpin' sumpin' later from her, so I'm being extra nice all day.
  13. Have you tried VLC Media Player yet? It gets me past 99% of AVI file incompatibility issues and it's free. It leverages most of the better codec and mux/demux libraries from FFmpeg Project and is quite good.
  14. Heavy Metal Thunder indeed. (cue Steppenwolf soundtrack. . . )
  15. Hey Kid, Did you know that The Musical Box has two Vic dates in early December? Dang, I would love to see one of those shows. These guys are crazy dedicated to authenticity.
  16. Amazing stuff. And two from my favorite Genesis LP Moonlit Knight is one of my top 10 favorite songs ever. There is also an outstanding from an 8mm tape of a 1974 Montreal show in the YouTubes.
  17. QUOTE(juddling @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 04:53 AM) He died????? Funny.....i didn't hear a thing.
  18. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 01:55 AM) The nipples in Wite's sig really bother me. Yeah, I'm sorta creeped out as well.
  19. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 11:38 PM) Peter's tell all would be Encyclopedia-thick. He's just too busy bangin' to put pen to paper. I hear tell, Peter and Mr. Brady were pretty hot and heavy. And come to think of it. . . that does sort of explain the "Phil Packer" pseudonym. . .
  20. In related news, fellow mimes around the globe are experiencing some difficulty as they try to travel to the funeral. Many are reportedly stuck in large, invisible boxes, while the forward momentum of several others appear to be impeded by strong winds which they, inexplicably, keep trying to walk against.
  21. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) No, not at all. But there is no doubt that it was the Gabriel and Hackett existense that made that band what it was. They lost a lot of the cool side with the Gabriel departure, but then it all vanished with Hackett. I just think most people discredit the post-Gabriel days, when in reality the two post-Gabriel albums are still quality releases. True. Hackett was pretty amazing and it's still evident on those last studio releases. A friend has played me stuff off the first Hackett solo album (forget what it was called), and it was also quite excellent.
  22. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) Actually, I count Genesis, up until Hackett left, as one of the greatest bands to ever exist. By far one of my favorite bands of all time. Phil is also one of the greatest drummers ever, who has sadly wandered far from his path. I agree, mostly, though I don't find Trick of the Tail or Wind and Wuthering to be as musically ecclectic as the Gabriel stuff.
  23. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 07:49 PM) LOL! Nah, but I like the strangely odd, twisted nature of the first one, and when it kicks in it's a pretty cool song and leads me to want to hear more from the band. The second clip is a bit of amazing make-up FX, provided by some hack named Stan Winston. I figured there had to be a Hollywood horror make-up connection in there somewhere. You don't exactly strike me as a big Phil Collins guy.
  24. Clips about beans and clips about candy. . . you hungry, Kid?
