  1. QUOTE(easyw @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) These days, I got my own problems, and I use music as a relaxing diversion. Thus, I listen to lots of Martin Denny, Brian Eno, Miles Davis, etc.. I got no time for words... I'm truly frightened now, because I was listening to Martin Denny on the way home from work today. Some Les Baxter Too. And I'm not talking the later era Moog King Martin Denny. I'm talking full on, Tiki Gods and thunder Ultra Lounge Martin Denny. Somebody get me a mai tai!!
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) It's being handled by top men. Top men.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) Must be humbling when you read about real scientists* . . . [/color] Indeed. Heck these guys are such eggheads, in school I'd have been beating them up for their milk money.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Jack is gonna be PISSED! QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) But is there still a purgatory? Because if not we just paid a crap load of money to get my grandma out of there for nothing. . . Yep, Pope says there is still a Purgatory. Like Heaven and Hell, Purgatory is a part of Catholocism's official voodoo, er. . . dogma. Good job springing Grandma. Must have taken a boatload of novenas.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) It could be worse, you could be a Muslim Then I guess Iranias's are kind of in Masturbation Limbo during Ramadan. Khameini left an out though – only "deliberate" masturbation is out. The "Oops, I spanked it." defense may hold up.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) Ya know what sucks? I got an email last nite saying my journalism class was cancelled....big deal, because its an 8 AM class that lasts two hours. So, you know, my first class today is at 11, and instead of getting up around 6:45, I was gonna get up at 9:45. Someone decided to f*** around and pull the fire alarm at 6:00 this morning. Who does that? Of course, since my body is used to getting up around then, I couldn't fall asleep for damn near an hour. That earns a BOOOOO. Then use that valuable time to your advantage, son. Mark Foley suggests you spank it.

Dang, I loved that silly dance at birthday parties too. http://www.religionnewsblog.com/16159/pope...ctrine-of-limbo Anyway, I guess it's a good hedge-bet development for my unbaptized babies, now currently 7 and 8.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 10:43 AM) Thought it might end up in an NYC art mueseum... "Noose Christ" just doesn't have quite the same flair as "Piss Christ"
  9. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) No, but I wonder how some people here would react if I made a reference to putting a buddy jesus in a noose and hang it from my windshield mirror here. Something tells me it wouldn't be with laughter. It would depend on how it was marketed. "Nazz in a Noose" wouldn't test well here in the southernmost stretch of the Bible Belt. But "Mighty Mighty Mirror Messiah" or something similarly zippy could be money.
  10. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) why do I get the feeling that Jim has a Google alert set for "teleportation" that has been largely quiet until today? And if these science bums woulkd just get off their duffs and make that Holodeck thing and the food synthesizer happen I'd be set.
  11. Anybody hear the NPR Michele Norris interview yesterday with Conservative activist Paul Weyrich (Free Congree ss Foundation)? He rescinded his earlier demand that Hastert resign (fair enough), but also seized the moment for some amazing gay bashing by boiling the "real problem" down to Foley being gay and the fact that "homosexuals tend to be preoccupied with sex." Norris was aghast at what was coming out of his mouth as he continued to think that being gay should have kept by itself Foley off the committee to protect Missing and Exploited Children, and invoked some fnciful psychologists wose findings justify this hatemongering. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6196749 What an ugly little man. Listen to the interview here, it comes up in the first minute of the piece.
  12. Weird, wild stuff that makes my head hurt. http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/10/04...reut/index.html
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) Of course it's necessary for everyone who participated in the office baby shower to send out their own personal thanks to everyone else in the company. And then equally necessary for those folks to respond "to all" for a grand total of 364 emails since lunchtime thanking each other... Morons. Email everybody back and just call 'em morons. That would be fun.
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) Notice how many bands who have had pop music commercial success mention Big Star as an influence. A perfect example. Ditto for Mott the Hoople, T-Rex, and Faces. Interesting that those all happen to be faves of Gleason's I think. He;s definately Rocking Under the Influence.

    Shout

Mind if we dance wit' cho dates? And the version in Wedding Crashes is a remix of the The Isley Brothers' original version of the song. The Beatles regularly covered it back in the early days as well, and Green Day does an interesting version too.
  16. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Personally, I think a size 0 is just as unhealthy as a size 20, just in different ways. They need to promote health not size in regards to models. So that size 20 model - she's the one that Queen flip-side to Bicycle Race was about, right?
  17. Supposedly Fox made that "mistake" in labeling Foley a Dem three different time son two different clips. unreal.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) I am an absolute believer that the law of diminishing marginal returns stands true. There becomes a point where they longer to do something, the less effective you are at it. I really believe our school board is out of touch with the community because they have been in front of mics for too long, and not in the community. Turnover is good in politics and you need not look any further than our current Congress to see that. I agree completely with this assessment. That goes for the governance boards of corporations and non-profits as well. Unless reasonable term limits are put in place ensuring a reasonable turnover you are left with either a do-nothing worthless board or an entrenched board full of cronies that loses site of what they are there for. In national politics today I think term limits remain important and necessary when you have an America that I so polarized. 51% or 52% of the vote isn't a mandate no matter which side wins an election. Allowing the political machinery of an incumbent to keep manufacturing 1% and 2% wins term aftter term would not in any way indicate we had the best person on the job, merely that they had the best re-election machinery.
  19. Hope it's a good one!
  20. QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) how many notes you can play in 10 seconds means nothing to me, its not how many notes you can play, its knowing how many you should play. And that to me, is why rush, and most of prog, is useless in the history of music. Dang, not a big fan of Keith Moon then either, are you? Now there's a guy who always managed to squeeze more notes into a bar of music than any rational drummer would have. And he also pulled it off brilliantly.
  21. Wow. Good find. Good stuff. All that Vincent Price audio, and the best review of Blackenstein ever!
  22. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) . . . Burzum (extreme Norwegian Black Metal where main man Vark Vickerness is in jail for murdering another Black Metal guy because he wasn't "extreme" enough). See? Where did all the bands with uplifting messages like this go these days. . . ?
  23. QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) Hmmm, for me, I would probably have to songs: First, "I hate everyone" by Get Set Go And finally, I would dedicate (from the grave) Zepplin's "Wish you were here" to my friends and fam. My dad, however, wants Spirit in the Sky and Jesus is just alright by me. que? Led Zeppelin's Wish You Were Here and not Pink Floyd's? Not familiar with that one.
