Rush should be inducted and will soon, I'm sure. I think the fact that they have been able to so effortlessly reinvent themselves on several occasions gets in the way of a huge throng of loyal long-time listeners who'd have gotten them in by now. The band up through Caress of Steel and 2112 was a very different sounding band than the band from Farewwll to Kings through Signals. Geddy realized he would shred his vocal cords beyong recognition if he didn't bring it down a half-octave or so. They also fully realized that the new drummer they picked up after the first record was not only the most technically proficient drummer in rock, but was also a dang fine wordsmith. It's weird, but I like Neil and Geddy most in that second era, but I liked Alex' guitar playing most on the first handful of albums. It had a melodic quality almost like Steve hacket from the eeearly Genesis days that faded on successive albums. Grace Under Pressure through maybe Presto has a more stripped down sound that left a lot of early fans (including myself) not sure of their new direction. With Roll The Bones to now, still more change. The U2 and REM sonic evolutions are the only ones by extant relevant groups that I think of as being on par with how much musical ground Rush has covered.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) What's wrong with CSN? Nothing. I think he was listing trios of musical talent. He didn't mention Noel, Mitch, and that crazy dude who played the guitar upsode-down though. . .

Wow, look at the size of the crowd in here tonight! Buncha massochists.

QUOTE(ZoSo @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) I could do that but I don't wanna. Seriously, that is amazing. I don't know how he gets full chord sounds with just his feet. Never underestimate human potential where there is a lot of time on one's hands. I was sure it had to be a non-standard tuning, but looking at it closely I don't think so. It basically looks like the fretboard-as-keyboard approach that Jeff Healy takes playing his lap-style guitar.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) No. I don't want to be in Minnesota when they clinch their playoff spot. The other side of the coin on that is, having the team go through that particular bit of humiliation and the meaninglessness of the final series in Minny (regardless of when they clinch) might inspire them to make sure they don't put themselves in the same position again next year. I'm looking for potential positives in the strangest of places at this stage.

Here's a link to probably the same guy Pretty impressive. Yep. looks like Jay alright. Which is kind of funny because you'f think the guy with no arms would be bob, but maybe that's just if he's floating in water.

I wouldn't much care to eat a live one - mostly because their exoskeleton has some sharp edges on it. The cooked roach contest on Oct 13 at the park I could do without too much problem. Don't know if I could eat 36 of them in one minute, which is the current record for eating cooked Madagascar hissers. If you follow the instructions for cooking roaches in the “Eat-a-Bug Cookbook” by David George Gordon you can probably avoid PETA's wrath. you're supposed to freeze the roaches first which would knock them out before killing them. Then bake in a 375-degree oven for 20 to 35 minutes and top with a light coating of Cajun seasoning. The author says the american roaches have a distinct nutty and chemical taste that doesn't sound all that appealing. No information specifically on hissers.

QUOTE(Drew @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 03:18 AM) I went to Barnes and Noble, ordered a pizza and drained four PBRs while watching Dodgers/Arizona, Houston/St. Louis. Not going to let the boys ruin a rare Friday night off. Don't let PBRs ruin a Friday either, Bro! I'm had the gameday app up on the computer the last two nights and checked in here and there, but I haven't even bothered to watch the broadcasts on the Extra Innings package. I actually went to bed yesterday before the end of the game (sure, I could see what the outcome was going to be), which is something I can rarely bring myself to do even for late noght west coast games. The trial separation between me and the team has begun as I prapare for my winter of discontent. 2007 Version!

I got 13. But I don't(!) put ketchup on my hotdog!! And the WTTW question was interesting - I had no idea on that. Of sourse, for me and the other adolescents growing up watching WSNS 44 late at night during the scrambled picture "On-TV" line through-the-image adult programming - we all know that "WSNS" stood for "Was it Snatch or Not Snatch?"

QUOTE(mreye @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) (Not saying anyone here has specifically mocked me. . . ) An oversight. Nyah nyah nyah!! Eye think ketchup goes on a hotdog, nyah nyah nyah!! That is all. Continue in your misguided ways if you must. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) I've always wondered this as well. What did ketchup do to deserve all this hate? Every time an adult puts ketchup on a hotdog, Chuck Norris punches a Mexican baby. But, if you don't care, I can't help that.

What is the record for the most GIDPs by a player in a single game? Anybody ever make more than three?

painful. painful.

I'd say try a different transfer protocol. [/Mr. Helpful]

QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Best hot dogs ever.. Nathan's. Even better than Hebrew National. Nathan's are good, but I'll take Viennna, David Berg, Boar's Head with the natural casing, or Hebrew National over them. And I don't like the red onion sauce they try to put on the Nathan's. Must be a new york thing.

QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) well if you're keeping crappiness on your y-axis....... Yes, yes, that would make a craptacular apex. Much like our west coast trip last week.
-
QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) the Royals their apex of crappiness. That would be their nadir - the lowest point, the time of greatest depression or adversity. Sincerely, Dorkus Dweebington

Good to be a Bavarian king during the Oktoberfest season. That's one whacky King of Bavaria.

What?!! You want to put the Mile High Club out of business too??

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) No kidding Maybe it was for growin' amd not for showin'? It does bring up an interesting medical question though. When you get your appendix removed, it's called an appendectomy. When you get your tonsils out, it's a tonsillectomy. So, what was this penis transplant operation called, medically speaking? Technically, I think it should be referred to as an addadicktomy, right?

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) If they don't win tonight, I might seriously consider turning down skybox tickets. I have more important things to do than get pissed off about a heartless team. You're just afraid you'll get up there and the team will give you an overwhelming urge to JUMP!
