QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Thanks to you, I got 100 £! Which is pretty good, because usually I can only hold out for 40-50 £. I held out by pretending I was £ing yo' mamma!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) I believe it will be detonated, but not by the US. At worst, we may provide it to some third party in the Middle East, but I don't believe we will drop/detonate another one. Tex, we're talking about a country that has let its current administration convince them that the pursuit of "tactical nukes" and both ethical and necessary. That technology is not being pursued for the results to remain unused. And they may not pack the megatons they bigger siblings do, but they are still bombs, are they not?

Sadly, I believe we will see a nuclear weapon dropped/detonated as an act of war in our lifetime. Even more sad, it will in all likelyhood again be the United States doing the dropping/detonating.

I'm not eating brussels sprouts again until we are back in first place!! The fact that I greatly dislike brussels sprouts is, of course, beside the point.

If he wasn't already Batman, I think Christian Bale (especially the Machinist-era version) could have been an outstanding Joker. Comparisons to Nicholson's version are going to be unavoidable, but if this is supposed to be a retelling of the early days of the Batman saga then the Joker character has to loom large in the plotlines.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Back from Brazil, straight to work from an overnight flight with no sleep. My legs are still all cramped up from 25 hours on Buses, cars, planes and trains.... You'll have to give us the lowdown on the trip when you get the chance.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) All in fun; I totally want Javy and the team to succeed. It brought a much needed chuckle. Kudos.

QUOTE(minors @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) when is the last time they represented a christian who is being discriminated against Well, let's go waaaaay far back in time to answer this stumper from the minors brain trust. Umm, I got it. how about right now, in this current case that you started this thread topic on?? The hatemongers in question are from the Westboro Baptist Church, a nominally Christian group. Their claim is that their religious freedom (as well as free speech) is being violated. That is, they believe they are being discriminated against for their knuckledragging brand of Christianity.

I like the site he linked to better than the What Jeff Killed site, especially since I'm another proud owner of a "Kitler". http://www.catsthatlooklikehitler.com/

Rally Crede Fact: The mere presence of the Rally Crede is the reason no hurricanes have hit the US this season.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) It would put the US government in a precarious situation. We couldn't support Israel's incursions into Lebanon to stop terrorists the government there is unable to control while at the same time chastising Turkey for the same thing. That's a really good point. But I don't think it's one the US will care much about, since we're typically only interested in talking the talk, not walking the walk.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) So, is the consensus that he WAS trying to make a move on her, then? I think the concensus is just that he has no concept of what is appropriate behavior and what isn't. A world leader happens to be a woman and something goes pop in his brain and he decided it is appropriate to give the old gal a shoulder massage. I haven't seen him giving Putin or Sherak any impromptu back rubs at world summits. Though I am pretty sure he and Blair play footsy inder the table when they make joint appearances.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) My son woke up last night at about 2am and wouldnt go to sleep. So we of course did the weak thing and brought him into bed with us last night. So we could get some sleep. He woke up then about 6am, and my wife went to work. For whatever reason, based on not really sleeping, I thought it was saturday. And proceeded to go on my saturday routine with my son. Making him a pancake breakfast, etc. That was until my mother in law came in the front door. I asked her what are you doing here. Then I realized, oh s*** got to get ready for work. My dad is right, kids make you crazy. Now how the hell did I mess up Wednesday and substitute Saturday with it. Selective memory I guess. At least I wasnt late for work. That's pretty good. Maybe the win last night put you in weekend mode.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) That's the first thing I thought of. I save all my pennies and usually have a coffee can full of them by the end of the year. We in the Knights of Columbus collect them for a school for problem kids in Terre Haute. And then you throw the pennies at all the problem kids, right? Very nice.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:00 AM) A.K.A. The Cheat Here's hoping you have a great one . . . Happy Birthday to the man who brings both a wealth of Sox knowledge and also some serious funny to Soxtalk. One of the All-time Great Soxtalkers.
