  1. I'd vote for Jimbo's, but what's the deal with nobody mentioning Schaller's Pump?? It's still there, right?
  2. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) What about the contacts that guys like AJ wear to enhance their vision of the red laces on the ball? If those continue to gain popularity, I could see them getting banned in the near future. That and cyborg implants. JUGGS is gonna be pissed when that happens.
  3. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Canada news is saying 0 fatalities. Awesome! Wow, that is amazing considering the eyewitness descroption that half the plane fell off and the rest burst into flames. Great news!
  4. I'd give you guys a smiley, but Kid went and used 'em all up! Happy Birthday all!
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, and India at least have gotten nuclear capablilites of one type or another, and what did the UN do to stop them? You should include Israel in that group. Or is it still supposed to be a secret?
  6. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) It is simply putting the "America Uber Alles" portrayal of America further into the limelight. It is speaking to the vapid, vicious and knuckle dragging nationalistic part of the American character -- One might call that hypocritical, especially from a political candidate who rammed down everybodys' throats that he was a "uniter, not a divider". And as much as I don't like Bolton, I have to admit -- it is an upgrade from John "I ::Heart:: Central American Death Squads" Negroponte. I hate that prick a lot more. Up With Knuckle-Dragging Nationalism!!!
  7. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Checking out the new one now through Amazon. Yeah, full return to his glory days this time out it sounds like!!! Wino, is he actually IN the studio you are at? Have you ever dealt with him? He seems like one of the coolest and nicest (also most down to earth) legends to ever walk the earth. He lives in Arizona. He is a regular golfing buddy with a family friend who lives out that way and made an ass load of money in home security. And from what he says about Alice it corroborates all the stories that he's a really cool and down to earth guy.
  8. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) I don't think we could go any smaller than Pluto for a planet. lol I mean come on now, being a planet is a very exclusive thing, we don't need 50 of them. Seriously though, I love having Pluto as a planet and both sides of the argument can be agreed upon. It is cool that our moon is bigger than Pluto though. And 50 is a low estimate for Pluto-esque outer solar system bodies. There are probably around 35,000 KBO (Kuiper Belt Objects) large enough to be tracked. Certainly most (if any) are not as large as Pluto, but their rock/ice composition sheds light on the probable genesis of Pluto and should bear directly on the argument. If Pluto is simply a large short-life comet or KBO that got caught up in an orbit around the sun (like 35K other smaller objects, as well as other sfurther out in the oort cloud), then I don't think there is much in favor of planet status other than tradition and sentiment. Also, the earliest size/mass estimates that led weight - literally - to the argument favoring Pluto as a planet included the size/mass of its moon in the measurements. I forget if I hd noted it earlier, but some of the scientists in favor of keeping the planet designation do want to revise Pluto's description as a double-planet because of the relative size of its moon and the somewhat arbitrary decision to call the smmaller body moon and the larger body planet.
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) How did they not know it was broken 3 days ago..?? Sounds like the cind of fracture that can be missed at first until swelling goes down around the ankle. Just a guess, though.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) = star
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Why are so many people shocked by this? Finding out your girlfriend has a penis... now that is shocking. Finding out palmeiro takes steroids... not as shocking. I think it's not a shock so much as it is finally the bombshell markee player getting nabbed just like we all anticipated would eventually happen. When you add in: • the timing of the story, right after Palmiero reaches the 3,000/500 plateau • his 'Never Never NEVER' testimony before Congress • the accusation by Canseco that he personally injected Raffy's ass and Palmiero's eearlier dismissal of that as a lie, and the new legs this that story will get now that it's going to come down to 'knowingly' juicing... It becomes a big story.
  12. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Yeah, I don't think our magic number (currently 44 after the 6-3 win today) goes down if Minnesota loses because Cleveland take over 2nd place. Is that correct ? Correct if they pass up the Twinks and take sole possession of second place.
  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) Charles and Camila In the supermarket checkout line yesterday I saw the gossip rags say Camilla cheated on Chuck with her ex. Looker that she is, I guess I can understand it. Seriously, the last time I got a nasty piece of ass like that was when my finger accidentally poked through the toilet paper... :puke
  14. QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) The President chose NOT to release requested documents. Just like the President is choosing NOT to release documents relating to the Supreme Court Justice nomination. If you won't play ball by the rules you expect everyone else to play by, you don't belong in the game.
  15. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) In his remarks today, he says he could not explain how the steroids got into his body. WTF? Did aliens abduct him in his sleep or what? But that's just the thing that will keep any pergury (sp?) rap from sticking. "I didn't knowingly take in any enhancers..." Just like Karl Rove didn't knowingly do anything illegal in outing Valerie Plame. ...Unless an eyewitness that saw Palmiero do steroids comes out and testifies to the contrary, that is.
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Yes, but, see, the last election was a mandate that he can do whatever he wants. Perhpas you've forgotten? True, I did forget. In my world 51% still gets you an "F".

    Discovery's Trip

    Two successful space walks for station repairs so far. The last one swapped out a gyroscope for one that failed back in 2002. they are still deciding if they are going to do another space walk to adress the problem with the protruding filler. No astonaut has ever done a walk underneath the shuttle, but they may decide to do it here. Story: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=997439
  18. If this isn't playing both ends against the middle I don't know what it is. The administration stonewalls for weeks by refusing to disclose requested documents that the Senate deems highly relevant to the Bolton nomination, and then cites the Senate's inaction as the reason to make the recess appointment. If they really wanted the up or down vote why didn't they make the requested documents available for review? Story: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=997156
  19. QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) I always thought Iggy Pop was gay. He is.
  20. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Anybody ever hear the one about how Iggy Pop got out of having to serve? Never was sure if it was rumour or truth. I've not heard this one. Please share.
  21. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Brian loves it when I make that and then mix in some beef. His favorite lunch lol. Mmmm, generic cereal with beef. My favorite...
  22. QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) I do know that he was all about Vietnam though. well, I think he was conflicted there through the course of his life. He was anti-communist, but he became a visibly perceived part of the peace movement. The Jimi song Machine Gun is certainly very anti-war, and the lines about gunning farmers down is VietNam imagery no doubt. But jimi's introductory dialog from the New Year's Eve Fillmore debut of the piece with the Band of Gypsies suggests the song is about the 60s race riots as much as it was about VietNam. That version of the song is one of the live recording highpoints of Jimi's career. Jimi: 'Happy New Year first of all. I hope we'll have a million or two million more of them...If we can get over this summer, heh heh heh. Right, I'd like to dedicate this one to the draggin' scene that's goin' on. All the soldiers that are fightin' in Chicago, Milwaukee and New York...Oh Yeah, and all the soldiers fightin' in Vietnam. Like to do a thing called 'Machine Gun'.'
  23. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Then the lyrics are just as I always thought, "Excuse me, while I kiss this guy!" Well done!
