QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 10:09 AM) After you take away taxes, he earned plenty of money by the time his arm fell off. Unless he squandered all of his money, he should have been able to have a nice nest egg where he could have easily gotten by for a while, while he looked for a new job to support his family with. I think Jim is full of crap. Baseball reference also says the following that I never knew, may have been getting paid decent minor league cash from 04-07 also. January 28, 2004: Signed as a Free Agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks. January 22, 2007: Released by the Arizona Diamondbacks. February 5, 2007: Signed as a Free Agent with the Seattle Mariners. May 31, 2007: Released by the Seattle Mariners.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) Anyone know how much money Parque made in his baseball career? Cause I'm not buying that he needed to do it. I know he didn't make enough to retire already, but I'm sure he made enough money where he can get by for a probably at least a year while he looked for a new line of work. That is if he didn't waste his money. Salaries Salaries may not be complete and may not include some earned bonuses 1998 Chicago White Sox $170,000 1999 Chicago White Sox $230,000 2000 Chicago White Sox $475,000 2001 Chicago White Sox $550,000 2003 Tampa Bay Devil Rays $400,000 Career (may be incomplete) $1,825,000

Beckham flirting with .300.
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) But you're not Beckham and... ewwww. ahhh to be the Slayer... This girl I know works at an upscale men's hair salon in the loop, she's recently cut Beckham, Nix, and Getz's hair. I could walk there in about 1.5 minutes from my office, how gay would it be to walk in there and ask Beckham for an autograph. Just act like I'm coming in for a cut, pull out a baseball and act like I carry one with me at all times, then abruptly sprint out of the place.

At Charlotte Last Night

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) Colon? He runs horribly. Was this post necessary?
-
At Charlotte Last Night
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) Colon went 7IP giving up 4ER, 8 Hits, 2BB's, and 2HR's. 0 K's. Quentin went 1 for 3 with an RBI double. How's he running? Is he playing the field or just DHing?

Mark Teahen anyone?
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) So you're the fan that 95% of the fanbase hates sitting next to, then? The guy who heckles incessantly for no good reason? Nah nah nah, nothing incessantly, maybe one time a game if that. Getting killed here for asking a dude with a prototypical corner IF/OF body that is jacked when he's going to develop corner power, and why he's playing 2B. You guys gotta lighten up.
-
Mark Teahen anyone?
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) Wow, thats harsh man. Do you have a personal gripe on him? I mean, thats just uncalled for unless youve actually met him and know he is a douche or something. I give him one a game if he gets in RF and use no profanity. If that gets in his head one bit, I've done my job.
-
Mark Teahen anyone?
Teahan is my favorite player to heckle. Occasionally get some first row tickets down the right field line from a season ticket holder and for the last 2 years I've been yelling at him asking when he's going to develop corner power, have actually drawn some looks from the guy. That being said, he's overpriced for what he is.

7/9 Game Thread Sox vs. Cleveland 1:05pm CDT CSN
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) Dotel in for Poreda? Man, he must not be stretched out at all. Is Pena not with the team yet? Seems like a more logical spot for him than Dotel.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Anybody think they are waiting for the game to announce that the deal is done? Would add some dramatic flair, not sure how packed the place is going to be for a day game however.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:59 AM) Clearly, i'm trying to express how much i love Beckham. No way was this a mistake. Haha, well even funnier then.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:45 AM) I'd have reservations with trading Beckham, Slayer, Allen, Flowers, Danks and Viciedo. And i'd really miss Poreda but we're talking Jake Peavy, here. This isn't SeaWorld, guys. This is as real as it gets. Nobody else catch this?

Carlos Quentin
QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) Mallrats? No? Haha, ahhh yes. If I remember correctly though they are chocolate covered pretzels in the movie, hence my confusion.

Carlos Quentin
QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 07:44 AM) Want a cookie? Huh?

Carlos Quentin
QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) He was speaking from a position of strength since both sides accept him as the one true God. I'd let my girlfriend cheat on me, but if, and only if it was with Carlos Quentin. Only problem is, she doesn't have a strong enough uterus to handle TCQ's load, it'd blow like a shotgun through her back. He'd have to wear a kryptonite condom, but that would kill him.

Metra gets final $7.9M funding needed for...
QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) I was looking at the SWS line when I said that, I don't know which is which. The Tinley and Mokena stops are pretty close to Orland anyway. Any way you slice it this has got to be a couple % increase in attendance right? And a couple less drunk drivers on the road.

Metra gets final $7.9M funding needed for...
QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 08:45 AM) Southwest suburbs, Orland Park etc. The Rock Island doesn't go to OP. Goes through a few Beverly stops, then Blue Island, Midlothian, Oak Forest, 2 Tinley Park stops, 2 Mokena stops, New Lenox, and Joliet. If it's running express it goes straight from Midlo to Lasalle Station with a couple variations on that as well. I live in Tinley and walk to the Oak Park ave stop from my condo for work everyday, this is pretty cool, however I feel like I will probably still drive to games.

You've had your last Best's Kosher Hot Dog at a Sox game
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) and f***ing amazing.... I really wish dollar dog Thursdays still existed. I'd get three dogs and a beer and not feel like I was totally ripped off... Then pile the ketchup and onions on those bad mother f***ers and watch a good old game of baseball. Oh Lord, please bring summer ASAP. One time my buddies dad came back to our seats with some dogs with ketchup slathered all over em for us, I nearly vomited as I choked it down. I won't miss the Best's as long as they are replaced with Vienna Beef or Hebrew National, both have superior dogs IMHO.

Good riddance OC
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) Cowley and OC didnt get along personally, and Cowley is someone who both holds a grudge and lets his personal feelings infiltrate his reporting. Check out his history, alot of his collegues felt the same way about him. I would take his opinion with a grain of salt here. Cowley repeatedly took jabs at Quentin this year because he "has no personality" and "is a terrible interview". Just made Quentin sound like he's a real jagbag. When the real story should have been that Quentin takes his job seriously, and would rather spend his time working on his game and doesn't care to spend his time playing nice with the beat reporter. Joe comes off as a guy that expects to be buddies with the players to deal with the mundane routine of his job, and gets pissy when players don't care to spend much time with him. Acts like the working the beat is beneath him, well there's easily thousands of guys that would love to have his job and do it better than he does.

Chicago @ Tampa Bay ALDS Game 2
QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Im watching the damn game...and the curve to Swisher was a strike. If you have some extenstential view of it that gives you a better view than I then Id love to see it, but the pitch to Swisher was STRIKE 3... It's even with the plate when it's in the glove, it's at least 6 inches outside while crossing it, I just went frame by frame.
