  1. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) They've bored the piss out of me since Richey "left". Their best was the "Stay Beautiful" EP. I love quite a bit of the guitar work on Generation Terrorists. I also enjoy the overall writing of Gold Against The Soul. Holy Bible is overrated, IMO. I actually found the only thing interesting about the band pre Theholybible was Richey's craziness. 4REAL! I loved Everything Must Go and This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours. To be honest, everything since has kinda sucked.
  2. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) I think Ric has too much integrity to spend too much time with the past. He gave them all his blessing though, and I think he recommended them hooking up with Rundgren. In all honesty, Rundgren hits the Okasek sound pretty decent on the new song. I have known for quite sometime that this was going on, as I belong to a Gretsch guitars discussion board and Elliot Easton is a member and he started letting little hints start slipping a long time ago. But I didn't know a new song had suddenly shown up until I was flipping through the channels and saw Elliot in a new video, so I stopped to watch and sure enough, it was The New Cars. The new album (a live one with a couple studio tracks) is just about to come out. I hate the name though. Why not just the SUVs? Or Luxury Sedans? The New Cars? Awful. In other news, I have determined my favorite moment in British 90s hard rock. 4st7lb by Manic Street Preachers. Its just so raw and painful and beautiful. It's how I felt in love with the band and definitely their finest moment of turning away from the Arena/CockRock hybrid that they had flirted with in their first two albums. There were definite hints of greatness before Theholybible came out - mostly "La Tristessa Durera (Scream to a Sigh)" and their cover of Suicide Is Painless. But 4st7lb is pure genius. 4REAL.
  3. Join the club. I have a 31 mile commute each way. No effective mass transit means to get me to and from work (although I could go work in NYC via train) and nothing in my area to earn me comparable money at the moment.
  4. Part of the deal to let them renovate Soldier Field was that they couldn't change the name for thirty years or something like that.
  5. Barry Bonds is no saint, but the way half of the baseball fans in this country want to see him, its like he drowns kittens in buckets when he's in the dugout. Seriously, he is fun to watch. But then again, I think steroid use is stupid - but not cheating.
  6. Alright, well then I guess we need Rove and Libby to be brought up on the same charges because we know that they were involved in leaking the identity of CIA operatives.

  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) As a rule, the MSM doesn't want to hold anyone accountable for anything, to be honest. That would require WORK, something that the "press" doesn't know how to do anymore. I totally agree with that. As long as youre willing to admit that neither the Dems or the GOP is held accountable anymore, I'll agree.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 08:56 AM) ABSOLUTELY not. They should have not have spent like drunken sailors. Low taxes, even less spending, is what they SHOULD have done. And for this, they should pay, but the alternative is worse. The alternative is worse? What have you been smoking? The Republicans increase the budget at a greater pace than the Democrats did even when they controlled both houses and the Presidency. I think its responsible to make sure that any additional expense that you assess is covered with matching revenue.
  10. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) ok, HOW do we do all this? (insert Dem name here) Raise taxes Put small businesses in a harder situation Raise taxes Raise taxes Raise taxes Raise taxes Put Iraq into a vacuum All right! I'm all about that. But at least they are starting to present ideas, but it's more rhetoric then anything to me, until they start talking about HOW they are going to accomplish this. If the Republicans were being responsible with the budget to begin with, they would have raised taxes too.
  11. It seems that the Democratic Party may actually have learned something in the last couple years, they seem to be introducing a simple agenda and message to share with voters to talk about what they stand for. Howard Dean: Raise the Minimum Wage Fairness for the Middle Class Ban Lobbyist Largesse Give All Cargo a Security Inspection Fix Medicare Drug Plan Transition in Iraq. Rahm Emmanuel: Make College Education affordable. Fix the Budget Acheive Energy Independence Spur innovation in the Sciences Universal Health Care John Kerry: Tell the truth. Fire incompetent people. Find Osama bin Laden/Secure our ports of entry. Bring the troops home from Iraq. Respect the Rule of Law. Protect our Civil Rights.
  12. Amtrak should puzzle you. It never succeded because it was never given an opportunity to succeed. The rail line was never fully funded which made it constantly unable to compete against other forms of mass transportation. It doesn't own its own rail lines outside the Northeast Corridor and as such is given little opportunity to improve speeds, track conditions or even on-time performance (It's routinely given lowest priority on other line's rails.)
  13. What do I do for vacation this summer? California? Or Brazil?
  14. Where do I go for vacation this July? Brazil or San Francisco?
  15. Rebuilding our national rail infrastructure would be a great way to help reduce consumption of national resources, both for freight and for passenger traffic. The great thing about New Jersey, is most people in the state live just a few miles from a rail connection to take them into New York or Philadelphia.
  16. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) word. most everything else is too annoying or just gay... Not gay, I haven't seen a single throwrug in myspace.
  17. The Bottleneck is usually where the good shows are. Good coffee and drinks at the Bourgeois Pig. Yellow Submarine has a kick ass Chicken Parm sub.
  18. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) I'm going to be in Vegas in the end of May. Are there Sonic's in Vegas? My buddy has been raving about that chain, and it might be my only chance to try one. Look at me, going to Vegas and I'm looking for fast food chains. :rolly However, there is one on 6th Street in Lawrence, Kansas.
