QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) According to GM, a full hybrid upgrade tends to run about 3k to 4k in differential cost. And that number will continually go down as time goes on. I also saw that GM is putting out a "light" hybrid in the Saturn VUE later this year, which supposedly will give a 20% increase in average mileage (not sure how they make that "average" measurement) for only about a $600 increase in cost to build. The Prius has come down in price, from about a 10K differential to a comprable regular auto to 5K.

Isn't Cinci chili a marriage between Texas/Southwest Chili (no beans) and Boston/Northeast Chili (beans, no tomato)

I'd get more chicks if I was in a band called "The Merkinstocks"

.699 in March of 1999 at the Chesterton Amoco. Today, 2.759 is a steal. Compare the Prius and the Scion XB. The Prius gets roughly 45 mpg driving, the XB 30. At 2.75 a gallon, the price differential (approximately 5,000) becomes equal at 163,934 miles into the car's life. At 4.00 a gallon, the price differential becomes equal at 112,612 into the car's life.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6042001946.html I think the President was right to not make this a formal state visit. I just wish we'd take a harder line to make them be a co-operative player in issues like human rights. Maybe tying in MFN status with the release of journalists held as political prisoners.

Everything we're seeing is from the Defense, correct? Well, its a nice distraction from the Chinese premier making a visit to the White House despite keeping American media employee prisoners and persecuting Christians and other religious leaders.

Hey I'm just saying what they said. I never said I agreed with them.

Actually, the official line from East Germany was to keep Westerners out. But having had a family separated by a similar wall, I tend not to like them.

Germany did something like that in 1961. Just sayin.

McLellan Resigns, Rove back to Politics
Rex Kickass replied to KipWellsFan's topic in The Filibuster
I love this. The Bush administration considers hiring a conservative news anchor and its the way to do it. But if it was a Dem and Dan Rather, it would be "flying bulls***." This is actually a smart move on behalf of the Bush administration - because it forces the Bush administration to be more honest with its press secretary... provided Snow would have the balls to say "this won't fly." Something that McClellan clearly doesn't have the balls to do. SNARK WARNING! Besides it's not really a new job, so much as a transfer in departments anyway. -
You CAN burn a cross in your own yard. As long as open flames are allowed in your neighborhood. You CAN'T burn a cross in someone else's yard. You CAN have a protest at 3AM in a residential neighborhood. You CAN'T cause a public disturbance.

The drudge report is all over this. Saying something along the lines of identifications were made regarding the scratches on the backs of the two indicted players. In the meantime NBC is showing the face of the accuser, which most news organizations do not do. And I'm thinking to myself - how convenient... the Chinese head of state is here and nobody seems to realize that he's holding a journalist with American news organizations in custody for disseminating state secrets for nearly two years. Except there are no actual charges filed for this guy. But finally we have a story replacing that missing whats her name from the Caribbean.

The only good Krispy Kremes are the ones that get caught in the conveyor belt and the dough doesnt cook in the middle. They throw those out though so you gotta ask for em special. If you just want one, they usually just give em to you.

I wonder if he ate the placenta like he said he would. I think Tom Cruise is going crazy quickly.

Steff, You're right. But we live in a country where people are free to be pricks and assholes - and we can't rightfully legislate against asshattery.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) Should be a law against doing this s*** at ANY funeral. Sorry but there shouldn't be. However, most cemeteries are private property and they can prohibit protesters from the premises.

QUOTE(samclemens @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 11:34 AM) oh i see. because i am calling this ram-job what it is, im a racist. makes total sense, since i dont have a liberal view on the issue i must be ignorant, backwards, racist and intolerant. i probably also live in the country and not the city, right? I think there's a big difference between a culture of entitlement and a culture of rape. The guy on the Fan said that there was a history of bad, borderline illegal behavior on behalf of the Duke students. How you managed to associate that with a free pass for raping girls is beyond me.

Murrow was pushed out more for his investigative journalism on tobacco and the health risks associated with it. Ironically, he died of lung cancer - from smoking.
-
Actually no he didn't.

The thing about Grand Juries is that we won't really know until the trial happens. I was listening to the Fan in NYC last week and they were talking about this case and whether or not the punishment of losing the season and coach was appropriate. And they had on some columnist or something from that area who said that there had been a long stream of complaints and allegations regarding the LaCrosse team and that there was a "culture of entitlement" there that the administration had seen the coach perpetuating. At least that's what I thought I heard, I was half asleep.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 09:10 AM) Call me lame but I think this would be an awesome way to spend a vacation. I think you're right Soxy. I would love to do it too.

I believe it was providing first responders with compatible equipment.

Isn't that point academic though? How many Africans are going to fly over here to be a dishwasher or a migrant farm worker? I understand that they would be earning several times what they would earn in their home country - but it would take months just to pay off the flight. The truth is that we have an illegal immigrant problem because our immigration policy is broken. Although these people did break a law by entering into our country there are other ways to enforce the law other than deportation. Making them legal and fining them might be one way to do it.

35 Democrat sponsored amendments have made it to vote in the Senate between January and March. 89% of them have been blocked by the Republicans. (That's 31) Most of them by party line vote... Including an amendment to help create a standard for communications equipment for first responders that would allow all first responders to communicate with each other during times of emergency. An amendment to increase Veteran Health Care benefits (all by closing loopholes in tax codes regarding Corporate taxes) and an amendment to offer confused seniors a deadline extension for choosing their Part D Medicare Prescription plan without penalty.
