  1. This has the potential to be as bad as Plan 9.
  2. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Wow, that makes absolutely no sense. There were anti-war movies during the Kennedy, Eisenhower, Truman, and FDR administrations? Would you like to cite some examples? And could you provide examples of a time when three anti-war/fasicm movies came out within a year during the Carter and Clinton administrations? In 1964 Fail-Safe was released. An anti-nuke political statement. In 1964 Dr. Strangelove was released. An anti-nuke political statement. In 1930 "All Quiet on the Western Front" was released. An anti-war statement. In 1946 "A Walk In The Sun" was released. An anti-war statement. Frank Sinatra starred in the 1962 Anti-War statement, "The Manchurian Candidate." 1970's M*A*S*H was about as anti-war as it gets. Stanley Kubrick released the anti-war Paths of Glory in 1957. 1978 saw the anti-war "The Deer Hunter" and the anti-war "The Boys in Company C" as well as "Coming Home," which is definitely not a Pro-War movie. Then there was 1979's Apocalypse Now. I'd say anti-war.
  3. I think a condition for our aid and support should be making sure being a specific religion isn't punishable by death by the government.
  4. How many of these movies that you're railing against have you actually watched?
  5. This is what we're fighting for? http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireSt...TC-RSSFeeds0312
  6. The moment I knew that this show was special was that promo spot when one middle age college student walked in on the other and she was in a leather sling and in all this fetish gear... and the dialogue was "What are you doing?" "I'm in College!" It's like Strangers with Candy meets Animal House.
  7. Riots/Protest = France. Always have. Always will.
  8. I had to read it in college. It was a difficult read but in the end very satisfying.
  9. His posts went away when I saw him as unregistered. I didn't know who he is, he hadn't registered, he doesn't get to post here.
  10. Rudy won't run. He'll suddenly stop being popular when people actually hear what he has to say. If he had been up for reelection on September 10, 2001 he probably wouldn't have won.
  11. Anyone here read Wilderness and the American Mind by Roderick Nash?
  12. Well, I don't know that I would even put McCain in that camp anymore. The last two weeks he's been carrying so much water for the administration it's going to be hard to keep the "I'm independent moniker."
  13. Yeah they would. You think the Smiths one time reunion wouldn't bring 20K to a Tweeter Center for 100 a pop?
  14. If by the Democrats you mean 4 of them. Feingold strikes me as a man of principle - kinda like Wellstone was. Although he may have a bit more flair for the dramatic than Wellstone did, my gut feeling is that he's doing this out of genuine concern rather than pure grandstanding. But then again, I used to think the same thing about McCain and it turns out I was wrong about him...

  16. I sold the biggest single cabin cruise of my career today. One couple, one cabin. Almost 20 grand.
  17. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Oh, really? Where do you get YOUR information? :rolly Right, just like homosexuals keep their "practice" private, yet everybody seems to know at least one or two. Zero. Thanks for proving my point. Most keep the practice quiet. Last time I checked, I didn't see teams of homosexuals practicing on the playing fields of this great country. We usually practice under the cover of darkness, still waiting for that friendly with Real Madrid next spring. But as to admitting what they are and talking about their relationships like any other normal human being? I fail to see the problem.
  18. She works for a charity called Operation Smile. Had a chance to get private face time with the President. Turned it down. Why? She would have had to make an appearance at a GOP fundraiser. Says she doesn't want to politicize the charity. Got respect for that. http://today.reuters.com/news/newsarticle....PSON.xml&rpc=22
  19. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) Yes, but they can have a long, drawn-out debate on the issue (which will generate A LOT of press coverage) without having to suffer an embarrassing defeat when the motion is crushed. It's the best of both worlds. If that's true, it draws negative attention to and puts blame on a lame-duck administration, rather than the Republicans. The Dems shouldn't be worried about Bush and Cheney right now. They need to worry about how they're going to defeat the Republicans in '08. I would hope that the Dems and GOP would be worrying about how to govern the country correctly.
  20. That'd be the opposite of cool Flaxx.
  21. Come and knock on our door We've been waiting for you Where the kisses are hers and hers and his Three's company, too! Come and dance on our floor Take a step that is new We've a loveable space that needs your face Three's company, too! You'll see that life is a ball again and laughter is callin' for you Down at our rendezvous, Three's company, too!
  22. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) This is yet another piece of evidence supporting my claim that the ACLU is more interested in promoting an ultra left-wing political agenda than protecting the civil liberties of individuals. And it's a damn shame. By representing an individual who has a concern about his civil liberties? Ummm ok.
  23. Although the thought of an intellectual discussion about illegal entry by Irish immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries would indeed be interesting to see, I have a hard time thinking we'll see one here. So I'm locking the thread - because well, I'm sick of seeing Sleepy and Irish fight.
  24. You're goddamn right. But that's the point. How are we going to get to the bottom of this if one side doesn't want to look into it? How are we going to get to the bottom of this if the other side only cares about scoring political points? How does it help Feingold if he introduces a censure motion and two people vote for it? It doesn't. You, I and the Senator from Wisconsin all know that. It might be that he actually gives a s*** about getting to the bottom of something. But because he's running for President, it has to be grandstanding. My biggest frustration of this board is that because there are some people in our government who let us down, we automatically think the worst about all of them. And maybe some people deserve the benefit of the doubt. But because of a D or an R next to their name, a lot of people just won't pass that benefit along and its sad.
  25. It all pales to That's My Mama. Oh wait, sorry, no.
