So you're saying there's a war in Iraq? Funny because I thought we were in charge of an occupation in Iraq. One does not make for the other.

Senator Warner from Virginia announced that DP Ports World will not assume management of the US ports but will instead turn them over to a US entity.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) Here's my thinking on this. The media shows violence in Iraq to push their liberal agenda and undermine Bush. After so many hours of watching violence in the name of Allah, the American public naturally starts to get a jaded view of Islam. YAS, I'm going to disagree here. I don't think that showcasing violence in Iraq - of which there is plenty - is done to push a liberal agenda. The fact is that when people get killed, its news. When people are attacked, its news. Especially when it happens as often as it does in a place where we are supposed to control the security of this country. That makes it news. No agenda necessary.

Nice Long Dong Silver reference! I'd say Thomas is just as predictable. He seems to come off as Scalia's lapdog.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) Shouldn't "Inform police" fit in there at some point? I just thought that went without saying.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) If it was "Never Gonna Give You Up" at the part near the end where Susan is leaving Kane in Xanadu and he says something about 'You can't leave, I won't let you do this to me. . . ', then I can see the song fitting. If it is any Rick Astley song other than that then SHAME ON YOU BOTH for knowing another Rick Astley song. Actually it was the chorus of "Please Don't Go" Which goes "please don't go, don't goooooooooooo, please don't go."

http://www.bangkokpost.com/breaking_news/b...ws.php?id=70137 A woman married a dolphin. I know there's a joke here involving dolphin safe tuna, but I just can't seem to make it.

Wow. And they're sticking it in a defense appropriations bill on an election year. They're either putting a parallel one up for vote without the amendment, or the amendment won't make the Senate version of the bill. That way in committee to consolidate versions, the amendment can be safely scrapped - everyone supported the troops and Congressmen did something to stop this deal from going through even though they actually did nothing at all.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) No wonder Fox is the #1 cable news network. Women reporting from the Oscars in dresses is significantly less risque' than the content of Nip-Tuck or Desperate Housewives, so I don't see what MM's point is (other than that they don't like conservative news channels). I dunno. Other than to basically ridicule news networks for doing stupid stuff like this (and it is stupid). I still find the whole thing funny. As much as I don't like what Fox News is doing to media in general (and I don't mean in an ideological sense - but more in a 'way the content is presented' sense), at least they have a sense of humor about things.
-
This just makes me laugh. Media matters goes frame by frame on their Oscar coverage. MM is trying to make a big deal out of nothing, but I think its funny that when their lower third gets in the way of cleavage that it just magically disappears. In fact, I might even watch Fox next time there's an awards show now. http://mediamatters.org/items/200603070010

The whole Vanity Fair article is linked in the Abramoff thread BTW.

I agree wholeheartedly Irish. Just to me order of importance is Defrock and Excommunicate, Replenish. Priests who use their position to molest anyone, child or adult, are guilty of one of the worst crimes ever. It's like stealing their spiritual life from them.

There are two tracks on that album that remind me a lot of "Bela Lugosi's Dead"
-
Actually, no we don't - yet at the same moment, it popped into both our heads.

Anyone listen to the new "She Wants Revenge" album. Anyone else find them to be a good mix of Bauhaus and Bowie influences?
-
Umm, they need to do that in reverse order.

Is it right or wrong that my date and I were watching Citizen Kane tonight and both started thinking and singing the same Rick Astley song at the same time? What the hell is wrong with us?

Australian Rules Football IIRC.

Chicago St. in conference title game

Chicago State is on 95th and King. You pass it on the South Shore just after the 115th/Kensington stop. My mother taught there for about 30 years. Butt ass ugly campus. Interesting history. Originally started in a boxcar. -
I just don't want to see them against Michigan State in the first round again. I was in Washington D.C. for that mess.
