Rehnquist = Deep Throat?

Makes me glad I have a boyfriend. At least I won't have to worry about finding her at singles night at the bar.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) And you'd think that the literal word of God would be a bit more clear on that and not be so ambiguous [and I'm talking NT, not OT because if we're gonna pick and choose what OT laws to follow, then we gotta get back on board with slaves, levirate marriage etc. etc. etc. -- I think he'd have to have the linguistic ability...being that he's God. I guess love is really one of those loaded words, isn't it? The truth of it all is that when I mean love who you choose to love, I mean consenting adults should be able to have a loving relationship with other mutually consenting adults. Of course there is caveat after caveat about a 35 yo with a 12 yo, or someone forcing a sexual relationship with someone else who isn't capable of returning that treasure. But I'd argue that's just manipulation and isn't really love to begin with. To someone who said that its fine in public but not in the church, I don't have a problem with that. However, in this case the pope was citing the civil recognition of same sex marriage and relationships and granting these couples the same rights and responsibilities of male/female marriage. The truth simply is that equal people deserve equal rights under the auspices of responsible government. Prohibiting two men who wish to enter into a legal covenant like marriage because of no reason other than what's dangling between their legs does not meet that criteria to me.

Mondale. No brainer. He may be boring, but he isn't bat s*** crazy. Although he'd find a way to lose. Like in 2002.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Why is anyone surprised that some Iraqi citizens support our efforts? I hope we aren't extrapolating that to mean the entire population is happy to be living in a war zone, where buying bread could get them killed. During the Vietnam War, the north Vietnamese could have printed hundreds and hundreds of pictures showing that Americans did not want to be at war. Yet we all know that our society is never 100% behind anything. Although Reagan - Mondale came very close. Nixon-McGovern came closer.

I was going for Arianna, but I'm a sucker for strong women with thick accents. One sentence from her and the word "swarthy" dances in my head.

I did see a good news story yesterday on a paper. I think it was the Phila. Inquirer. Apparently American soldiers aren't as big of a target as they were before the election. American deaths in combat have slipped down to about 1.4 a day since the election and in the six or so month period before the election, it was nearly 3 a day. It is mixed news, however, because Iraqi targets are getting hit more frequently - so the overall security picture remains mixed.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) The construction workers are the best with the cases of Busch Lite One time this drunk guy gave me a scarily detailed description of his wife's private parts and handed me an unopened bag of sugar free reese's cups.

Actually, Germany is not in the same league with France. We kind of rebuilt the current German state to be naturally pacific - so the fact that they don't jump into any kind of military alliance easily should be more of a relief to the US than anything else. Germany is helping with Afghanistan (as is France) and Germany helped the US in the Kosovo situation. Germany also offered to help train Iraqi police shortly after the fall of Baghdad in 2003 and their help was rejected by the US government. There have been some people in the government cabinet who have made some stupid remarks regarding US foreign policy and regarding the President, but they don't represent the German government as a whole. It'd be like characterizing the entire US government on the remarks of John Ashcroft, Tom DeLay or Jim Bunning. Even though I'm French, I think the center-right RPR government in France is terrible, and had it not been for an upsurge in the extreme right wing of France (which is more like us than you might realize socially), chances are the Center Left would have gotten power in the last election.

In the evening it is. The South Shore is full of commuters getting soused out of paper bags on their trip back to Miller and Ogden Dunes. Thank god for my gas sipping box.

Loving who you choose to love = evil. Ok, then.

I liked the "Dude Ranch" album. That was about it though.

They closed the travelodge? So sad.

They're building an IHOP. There used to be one in front of the old Kmart when I was little. The day I finally convinced my parents to take me to "The International House of Pancakes," they closed their doors. I was very sad. I was six.

Oh yeah, French Fries? They're really Belgian. I wouldn't mind a big paper cone of Frites right now and washing it down with a bottle of Lucifer.
