  1. Esp. if your nickname was The Enforcer(which would be a cool nickname for a closer). LOL, actually that's a worthy thread. What clip should go with what player's montege. And I could start it out with an easy one: Without a doubt, Slim Pickens riding the A Bomb in Dr Strangelove would be an absolute must for Billy Koch's montege.
  2. Not sure I understand where you're coming from with the acky breaky song unless you just don't like it, but then if the player does who cares. How about the theme music to The Terminator or Indiana Jones or Rocky? Would that be offensive to an American? It could be construed as playing into the American stereotype. And the flippin hotdog I'm equally unsure about, is this analogus to Godzilla in the montege? That's a huge stretch IMO, would a King Kong clip be offensive to Konerko? Or to keep the hotdog in there(for whatever reason), how about the scene from The Enforcer when Dirty Harry blows the bad guys away in the street while eating his hotdog. Is there anything more stereotypically American than Dirty Harry? Would that be offensive?
  3. While it's all well and good this talk about who's a future HOFer or not, the simple and encouraging truth is that THIS YEAR there isn't a team that can't be outpitched in the AL and there's no team in the majors that the Sox can't outhit.
  4. While I agree that Carlos can do a little too much admiring at the plate I'd also point out that he has a very long follow thru(how many C has he clipped with it?) that gives the impression that he's just standing at the plate.
  5. Behind the counter or the drive up window?
  6. And you didn't even see him at his best, his control is usually better and when he's throwing that frisbee inside on RH hitters he's made them look awful. There's no chance we're trading him any time soon, we are however in the market for another BP arm.
  7. Gar's problem is the long ball this yr, he's 6-1 when he doesn't give up a HR(the one loss was a 1-0 loss to Balt) and 1-4 when he does(last night was his first win while giving up a HR). If he can cut those down, along with the walks before, he's going to have a big 2nd half. Btw most of his HR's given up(9 of 14) have been at home.
  8. Yes any and all of those positions, if he's still hitting like he is now when Frank gets back, Ozzie will find a way to get him in the lineup. And yea, Houston has to make up their mind, and fairly quickly.
  9. So the offer starts something like Loaiza, Joe B, Rauch\Diaz................
  10. He could play DH which is what we've been talking about, he could also play LF with Carlos going to DH and he could even play some 2B. Houston was going to let him walk over the winter and only brought him back when he took a $5 mil pay cut, trust me if Houston feels they're out of it he'll be available. Biggio is a top of order guy(as good as is going to be available for a reasonable price) and he's having a good yr .317 avg .368 OBP 11 HR 59 runs
  11. Not sure why the report out NY would be false, it sure didn't come off as sounding like RJ to the Yanks was a lock.
  12. In that respect, the best probable guy available would be Craig Biggio who could also hit leadoff for us. He does have a no-trade status but he'd be cheap($3 mil this yr, $1 mil buyout). We could then still afford a reliever and pick up Greg Zaun who is having a great yr also.
  13. The Atlanta model? When has Atlanta ever been shy about trading their prospects?
  14. That was Schilling who had the beef with JR, we almost(and shoulda) signed Rocket in '97 when he was begging to come here. Instead we went with Belle and Navarro.
  15. I don't mind giving Rauch a chance but with so little time left before the deadline it's an either/or proposition.
  16. You could add 2 WS champs in that time too, I wouldn't but you could.
  17. I like the Borchard idea if Maggs isn't running 100% yet.
  18. What's the difference between Magg's DHing here and playing RF in Charlotte which is where he'll be Friday if Frank doesn't go on the DL?
  19. Ah, and that cost us the pennant. Btw, do you remember Maggs going 2 for 10 vs ATL or 1 for 11 vs NYM in 2002? How about Konerko's 0 for 10 vs Mon or his .215 July? Or Thomas' 1 for 12 vs Cubs or .212 June or his .183 August? Or Buehrle's 14 runs in 2 losses to the Scrubs? Luckily for them it was all Foulke's fault or there may have been some 'splaining to do.
  20. He converted 6 of 7 saves in April of 2002 as we got out to a 16-10 record(I guess that one BS killed our momentum). He didn't blow another save til May 29th and that one(vs NY) came in the middle of a 7 game losing streak so it was hardly a momentum buster. Oh and btw, 2 weeks later he pitched 3 innings of no hit ball to get the win and avoid a most embarassing sweep at The Shrine but of course we don't count that. And since Koch's '02 11-4 record was brought up it should be pointed out that 5 of those 11 wins came after blown saves and 2 more were after he coughed up bigger non-save leads. Of course since we couldn't score after the 7th inning in '02(and damm little before that either) it would have been pretty hard to win 11 for us.
  21. I would've thought Cotts would be sent down.
  22. So if Torre was picking we'd have no one going.
  23. This season will be won in August, while the Twinks play an absolute killer August we get a steady diet of Detroit, Cleveland, and KC. Simply put, we dominate those 3 teams in August, we win the division. EOS.
