I doubt the Yanks make him an offer, his most likely destination is LA followed by Seattle, Atlanta, and Baltimore.
-
Yea I was just being a smartaleck. Actually, just replace Laime with Alex and we probably win the division in '97. It annoys me though when people say we got lucky(or that we were smart) getting rid of someone because they end up getting hurt after leaving. Unless it was a congenital condition you can't extrapolate that he would've gotten hurt if we kept him, the situation around his injury would not have arisen in a different place and time.
-
Fernandez wouldn't have gotten hurt if he stayed with the Sox since he wouldn't have been pitching in the playoffs, as you should know, you'd have to of been crazy to think we could've caught the Indians in '97.

I take it someone will revive this thread whenever Jose makes an error. Honestly, I'm not all that over impressed with the little I've seen of Uribe's D, I wouldn't bring him as a late inning replacement for Jose and definitely not for Willie who I think may be a GG candidate in a couple of yrs.

Too bad Maggs talks about being a Yankee thru most of the article. As Hawk said, He Gawn!
-
I actually thought it was a good pickup at the time and was fairly excited, unfortunately I was also excited about DW, that's where I got burned.
-
Come on, he's in love now.
-
Would prefer one of Brad Radke then, if he struggles this yr the Twinkies ain't going nowhere.
-
For comparison here's the bottom 20(min 400 AB's): http://sports.espn.go.com/mlbhist/stats/ba...false&count=174 Actually, while there are some good players there too. As a group I'd take the top 20 SO guys over the bottom 20, so I guess strike outs do matter, they're good.
-
Here's the top 20 strikeout guys from last yr: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlbhist/stats/ba...inpa=0&ageMin=0 Other than Hernandez who would suck even if he cut his K's in half I don't see anything wrong with the players in that list.

I thought it was great that you were in there Baj, I particularly liked the Sandoval question and how quickly Bull responded.
-
Ok Baj, but let me preffice by saying that I've never seen you actually pitch so this is an inquiry not a critique but with almost all the BP spots in Charlotte up for grabs why are you back in B'ham? What didn't you accomplish this spring to get you one of those spots? What do you need to do to be banging on Chicago's door? Is it simply #'s, results, or something else? Or am I completely off base on all this and all you're saying is that Philly is Phillips and he's out trolling for kudos? Either way I'd love to hear your self assessment of your spring and what your mindset is going into the season. One of the great things of having you guys post here is that we get an appreciation and some insight into what goes in to the making a major league ballplayer.

I don't think you can make that analogy, the dynamics would be totally different. If we were in the east then the Yanks wouldn't have won the WS in 2000, maybe our concentration level wouldve been higher last yr, maybe with more home games vs the Yanks and Boston attendance would be better and payroll would be higher. Heck our last WS appearance in 80+ yrs came in the middle of a Yankee dynasty and during that time if we'd won a few more games maybe we have a couple of WS titles. On top of all that dont forget that the Yanks and Boston would have to play us alot more too. Does anyone here really think it'll be impossible to take 5 of 7 from the Yanks in the next 2 weeks? Or 4 of 7? We went what, 21-14 vs the East last yr, 19-14 the yr before. Assuming we'd lose in another division is just as precarious as assuming we'd win in the Central.

Thanks CSF, The Schnur is my guy. He's another guy I wanted to ask Bull about, I'm assuming he had a good ST since they gave him an A game AB but you never know. How about BMac? Thought for sure he'd be in W-S.
-
Thanks for the info on Gray guys, I'd be pissed as all hell if they put the Schnur back in rookie ball again.
-
So The Schnur will be in Kanny then? Wasn't there also another 3rd baseman at about the same level? Grey?
-
Sure, if you have a .400 OBP that means your making an out 60 % of the time, does it matter if that 60% is FO's, GO's, or SO's? It's still an out. You can however increase your slg% by taking bigger hacks, if increasing your slg% also increases your SO's over GO's who cares.
-
Have never understood the obsession with SO's, OPS is still the most relevent offensive stat and K's have no bearing on that whatsoever.
-
Not sure whats wrong with 15th, until we get some of our ????? answered that just about where we belong. Our O is a little undervalued but after last season that's understandable. Our top 3 is right there but with our 4 and 5 and our BP ????? there's no way we deserve to sniff the top 10. If we bust out in April we'll jump quite a bit I'm sure but til/if then I agree with Frank and say let people underestimate us.

As I said on another thread, I like the 50-50 format idea which would afford both more thought out questions and answers but still give time for follow up questions and Dan Patrickesque type banter(esp. with friends and teammates). Bull did a great job with the format as it was though, but I know it was hard for me to formulate questions(ie I had Honel questions but never asked) and still keep up with all the chatter so it had to be hard on him.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....AH s*** I think I pee'd my pants. I guess I owe you a few more beers for that one whenever you get your ass down here for a game.
-
Bull, Baj, BMac or any of the other guys could you help me out, I've got this MnSoxFan guy stalking me all over the internet about the Lackaff release. If you could confirm this it sure would be appreciated, he's beginning to creep me out. Thanks in advance.
-
BMac, now that Mr. Zero has lived up to his name and is no longer a "prospect", I guess that makes you Mr. Ten.
-
I think that'd be a great idea, more content but still some off the cuff interaction.
