  1. Whether Frank will get a WS ring with the Sox or not is up to our young pitchers, right now that isn't very encouraging. A better question might be will Frank hit his 500th HR as a Sox? With two monster HR seasons he could pass it at the end of next yr, or he could come up just short. Therein lies the question, if he has say 495 HRs at the end of '05 do you pick up his option for '06? Do you decline the option and hope you get him at a reduced price? Or do you just cut ties and say thanks for the 495? I have a good idea which way KW would go if it was only up to him.
  2. Or both, right now I'd say that the bench would be Gload, Burke, Uribe, and Alomar. Dransfeldt has had a good bat but has been brutal with the glove, any time they want to end the Bobby Smith era is fine with me, and Joe B. needs to get out on the field to get back into contention.
  3. Doesn't matter really because they'd have to get Sox approval to do so and of course the Sox get a big chunk of that raise.
  4. YAS, what's the source of that?
  5. 4 walks, not what he wants to stay in contention.
  6. One more run when they had the bases loaded and no outs.
  7. Can't believe there isn't a single pimple on that, it's gotta be airbrushed.
  8. Sox lineup Uribe Smith Gload Konerko CLee Borchard Dransfeldt Olivo Schoe
  9. Why is that? That there are no lefty 3rd baseman is all about old school thinking and laziness on the part of coaching staffs and nothing to do with actually playing the position.
  10. I think Baines has one of those dry senses of humor that takes time to appreciate.
  11. Funny, I thought it was the Live Bullet album.
  12. Ya know we are only getting snippets here and there but it seems everyone is happy that the JM era is over.
  13. Not sure what kind of CFer Mario V. would make but he has played there before, personally I thought he had made the team in '02 but they chose to go with Liefer instead.
  14. Yes ARI for the 3rd day in a row and then the A's tommorrow.
  15. Schoe is starting, after that who knows???
  16. Wow, the anger here's a little surprising. Forget his excessive rosiness towards KC for a sec(since almost everyone responding could have the same thing said for them) and he's not far off with the Sox. Bullpen: Depending on Koch, we could be the best or third. The same could be said for KC. Starters: It's pretty much a tie between the Sox and Twins with both needing young guys in the 4 and 5 spot to step up so I don't see it being a slap rating 1,2 the way he did. I'll admit he was hitting the koolaid hard when he he said "the Royals could have the best rotation in the division." but then they're no worse than the Sox rotation going into 2000 was. Infield: We do have ????? at all 5 positions, after last yr how could Kong not be a ????, Harris is the epitomy of a ?????, Which Jose shows up this yr esp. on D ?????, Olivo has potential but didn't show anything last yr to make you think he was going to blossom this yr, Crede has only one full yr under his belt which begs a ???? but he's probably this least questionable of the bunch. I don't think it's outrageous to say it's a pick'em between KC and the Twinks. Outfield and DH: I guess it depends on your preferences of speed and D over power or not. I personally go back and forth on this one myself. He obviously takes a rosy KC view in the records but as far as the Sox go I could see us winning 83 games, I can also see us winning 73 or 93 too. I guess that's why we play the games.
  17. If Ozzie can get the guys playing a relentless attack style offense til the end of October he'll have done his job. Pitching wise, his biggest decision will be before the season even begins when he must choose his 5th starter. After that, his fate is in the hands of Koch.
