  1. 15th, tie with...........Keith Foulke!
  2. ....and all I have to do is sell the house and car to get it. It happens all the time.
  3. Opening day will be a sellout before we play game one, it's the Yankee series that'll be effected by our start. If we're 7-5 or 8-4 with the Yanks heading into town those could be some huge weekday attendances for April and it could spill over to the TB weekend series too if we win 2 of 3 from the Yanks here. In fact, with an 8-4 start, Pepsi half priced night, and a little luck with the weather the Tuesday series opener could be a near sellout.
  4. Exactly Yas, compare what Castillo has to say in his story to what Rauch has to say in his Southtown story.
  5. He only needs to lose maybe 10-20 more lbs, 6-2 245 is not bad at all if you're in shape. He's a pitcher(hopefully) not a male model.
  6. A 4-2 or better opening road trip could really get the excitement going heading into opening day, we also have a big homestand in late April that while it might be an intitial drain on attendance it could also pay big dividends down the road with a great performance.
  7. I echo the sentiments that it could be a big break for us having the Yankees early before that lineup gets locked in. It might be just the luck we need.
  8. Ok, a little breakdown on starts for the first month of season: @KC 1,2 @NY 3,4,1,5 KC 2,3,1 @TB 4,5,2 NY 1,3,4 TB 2,5,1 CLE 3,2 TOR 4,1,3 That's maximizing the starts for 1 and 2 while keeping them on normal rest. I really like how from @TB to TOR goes matchup wise. We have a good chance at a big homestand there.
  9. Koch may be the biggest key to the season, it's not that we don't have alternatives to him as closer, it's that we're forced to carry him and his contract no matter what role he's in. He has to be productive this yr for the Sox to be successful, there's just no way of getting around it.
  10. Mulder is another cold weather pitcher(would love to have him come home), so is Washburn(Green Bay). Mussina is a great comp and he's a cold waether guy too(Pittsburgh).
  11. Well if Kong shows up this weekend that'd be early enough for me, in fact I wouldn't be surprised at all if reports from today's workouts contained sightings of alot of position players.
  12. Yep, and when we go there it'll be 3-4-5-1 or 3-4-1-5 depending on how Ozzie decides to play it. Either way they'll be playing 3 games against our 3-4-5 guys.
  13. Teams have been doing it consistently lately though(and thus the reason they're winning so many). I do agree it could have been a negotiating ploy by the Ass. Good point.
  14. I can't believe this thread has gotten to 53 posts.
  15. The reason that Gagne lost is that because he was only a first yr eligible arb case and only like contracts for comparison(ie pitchers in their 1st yr of arb or less) are considered. In that respect his $8 mil request was way out of line(by almost double) and the dodgers simply had to use Mariano Rivera's $4.75 mil contract in his 1st yr of arb as comparison and they had it won. A terrible job of overreaching by his agent(Bor-ass) when he had a good chance at winning with a $6.5 mil request.
  16. Yea, I actually might put Philly before both them and the Red Sox.

  18. That's a tough call, you could easily make the top three a tie for 1st also. Not sure where he's getting the Schilling fragility comment from.
  19. Don't see how it's a Sox bash, it's part of our history. Would it be a Cub bash to compare the '04 Sox to the '70 Cubs?
  20. Ain't gonna happen CSF, they'll keep any money save in the trade and cry that they were over budget anyhow. It's why at this point I'd rather just go with what we've got and hope for the best.
  21. Well if we sent PK, Frank could be a full time 1st baseman for us too.
