  1. We were tied for 1st at 26-19 when he went down.
  2. No, fortunately the SOX GAME was on then. :fthecubs
  3. Exactly, it looks like he already is making an adjustment with all the fastballs he threw and he also has a nice 70 mph curve to go in between the fastball and that frisbee to boot. All I know for sure is that it feels great to once again look forward to the closer coming in to the 9th.
  4. ERA's a composite stat and thus a moving target, I'm just as confident in Mark now as I was less than 2 weeks ago on June 17th when his ERA was 3.65.
  5. Top Headlines Iraq to Get Legal Custody of Hussein Wed. 6. Somewhere in between where it usually is. Btw, was reading a story and look what shows up in the top Headlines box at the cubune site which wasn't there this morning(before the Moron's show that is): http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines I'm sure Tex feels much better now.
  7. Moyer has a rock solid no-trade clause and has said he has no intention of waving it so it's really not up to Bavasi.
  8. Agree on all points Rex and would add that in hindsight, had KW not picked up his option that Jose would be gone as there would've been plenty of interest in him and he'd have gotten better offers than the $5 mil we are paying him.
  9. Fine, as long as he gives equal disgust to what is inevitably going to happen Sunday night. Of course, that'll be ALL Sox fans fault then.
  10. Those would be the guys who can't even bag one...........
  11. I really like the idea of getting Zaun, he'd be relatively cheap, is decent defensively, and is swinging a hot bat. I don't think you could find a better fit. Pitt will have to give Kendall away to get someone to take him(they've been trying to dump that contract since they signed it), offering Rauch for him would be inane, and Rauch+? No Way!
  12. The Sox were 23-18 with MO starting, not sure what the era was but it couldn't have been that bad when I do a quick scan of the scores: http://bigleaguers.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/7028/gamelog
  13. That popup was Gload's ball all the way and any legit RFer woulda waved Uribe off, and even Gload may have waved him off if it hadn't of been for his earlier error. So in effect Gload's error led to another.
  14. And remember we're only at the half season point with Konerko, but then it's not like he's ever only given us a half good season before. .
  15. This has been the impetus on the Braves side and remember we get stuck with him for 4 more yrs if true. If Ortiz isn't part of the deal then there's little point in pursuing it as we'd have to get a reliever from Atlanta to make the deal worth while and they have little I'd be interested in. Of course, if this forced Seattle to s*** or get off the pot then let's pursue it hard.
  16. DH is a legitimate everyday position every yr in the AL and should be voted on every yr, not every other yr. If it somehow puts the AL at a disadvantage then so be it, if it means them dropping the incredibly silly rule of no DH in an NL park then better still.
  17. LOL, yes 32(now 33) responses to the title of this thread is waaayyyy too many.
  18. I thought Fields was already signed? No?
  19. So then if the Sox make it to the WS then Buehrle will be "playoff tested" too.
  20. Fair enough, Urbina had one bad outing against Baltimore when he gave up 6 ER's and had his only blown save. In his 23 other appearances he's given up a single run 3 times(1.25 ERA). He also hasn't given up a HR. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/gamelog?statsId=5385
  21. That depends I guess, you'd probably be looking at a 3 yr $28 mil contract with a team option of $12 mil for a 4th yr. Is that too much? Well yes and no, yes if you have a bunch of AAA pitchers ready to move up like Seattle, no if your pitching prospects haven't panned out and you need that bridge pitcher til the next wave starts coming up like the Sox. Btw, I don't think it's fair to compare what Buehrle and Garcia are making since they're at different points in the salary process.
  22. Add Rick Helling to the list of guys who've recently become available, I know his #'s suck but he's always seems to be .500 or better which would be a big step up for our 5th starter. At least til the trade deadline.
  23. With 30+ mil coming off the payroll next yr JR may simply be willing to use some of that savings on going for it this yr where a WS appearance could be a huge boost for next yrs revenues. That and I beleive he's getting a nice chunk of change from the Yankmees luxury tax this yr.
  24. Wasn't the same thing said about Vlad and Vasquez? I wouldn't count anything out. Of the two though, I'd prefer Livan over Armas, less risk and more playoff experience.
