The Reds have no intention of parting with Adam Dunn or Austin Kearns for Tim Hudson. Maybe if Hudson were signed for another three or four years they'd consider it, but if that were the case, the A's wouldn't be looking to move him. "He'd look great in a Reds uniform," GM Dan O'Brien said. "But, no, it's not going to happen." Dec. 11 - 1:19 pm et Source: Cincinnati Enquirer

Ortiz signed in the $8 mil per range, not sure why that's so sick considering he's won 100 games the last 6 yrs. Garcia has won 85 and is making $9 mil per.
-
The question is, can the Jays put a package together for Konerko that the A's would want(along with Garland) for Hudson? If so, then a Lee for Vazquez deal could go down too and we'd be on our way..........
-
Good post Rex, I'd also add that CLee has a completely different demeanor in the batters box. I don't see why having fun with the game is a detriment, the question is does the player understand Go Time. I think CLee does.
-
'05 is the final yr of Hudson's contract. Btw, CLee is only signed thru '06, does that mean we have to sign him to an extension if we don't trade him for Hudson? I'd love to trade for Hudson and sign him too an extension but I don't see it as an imperative for a trade.
-
No rumors of the Sox because there's been no indication(ie rumors) that they'd be willing to trade CLee. If those indications were out there, the Sox would be near the top of the rumor list.
-
Jesus has a no-trade clause.
-
Well Kong + CLee + Gar + Harris = $20.5 mil While Vazquez + Hudson + Gordon = $19.5 mil So there would be a little money left over, but more than that, a buzz would be created that would compel them to spend more. At least $5-6 mil more which could get us at least one more decent bat for the lineup.

You mean 4 and a minor leaguer to be named later doesn't do it? Wish you'd have told me that before last season Josh.
-
Mansgayb**** could be easily had from the Bosox to give us a GGer at first. Anyhow, I can't seem to recall what we won with all the firepower we've had the past few yrs.
-
Interesting, I take it you've never had your company merge because b****ing and moaning is the order of the day there.
-
Your math is off some, the payroll is now around $68 mil with Garcia's addition.
-
First of all...................consider the source.
-
I was also curious about this, I'll admit I'm not the most dilligent reader here but when you consider some of the topic that get 50+ pages here............... .......unless he's talking about himself in the 3rd party, then the whole point of the letter and any reference to soxtalk is just wrong.
-
How many is a ton? 5? In only one of those did he give more than 1 run and in 3 of the 5 it was in his 2nd inning when they scored.
-
If you're talking about an average reliever then yea I'd prefer a RHer too but I'll take quality over situationalism anyday.
-
I'm not, I see him throwing 91-92 mostly, down from 94-95 last yr.
-
Right, I don't think you can change the rule in mid-season or you should not vote for him just because you disagree with the rule. If you don't like, change the rule. Until then it's not fair to anyone involved not to voted for the most deserving player eligible.

You are Evil....Jester.

Two things: 1) This is Delgado's list so yes he'd be interested in waiving his clause to come here. 2) Forget about trading Maggs cause it ain't going to happen, our only interest in Delgado would be if Maggs is seriously hurt again. That said, I hope KW is talking about Zaun with the BJ's at the same time.

Well except for the Sox this whole season has been quiet trade wise, it's really beginning to look like any flurry of activity is going to wait til next Thursday-Saturday.

You appear to have missed the point of me posting that, it was a diss against Buehrle whether it had any validity to it or not and it was in the lead paragraph. As to my Prior comment? I'll let the 3 months of The Prior Watch speak for itself.
-
Sorry, it is. But not as bad as we make it out to be. The lead paragraph in the Trib story: CLEVELAND -- When you think of pitchers throwing perfect games, Mark Buehrle wouldn't be one who comes to mind. No disrespect to Buehrle's talent, but he is someone who is always around the plate with his pitches and seldom overpowers hitters. The more times the ball is put into play, the more chance there is for a ball to fall for a hit. Any guesses on how it would read if Jesus Prior faced the minimum?

I have no problem with Willie out there but if he's not going to run then he should hit 8th or 9th. Jose having to try to bunt him over to 2nd with no outs in the 1st is just plain wrong.
