If it were up to me, eliminate divisions, play a balanced schedule and the top 4 teams advance to the postseason. Expanding the playoffs does nothing but pad the wallets of ownership. Nobody wants to watch a watered down playoff. Idk what the leagues don't understand about "less is more" when it comes to the postseason.

If they squib kick, they need 25 yds for like a 48 yd attempt and they can use the whole field to get it. A pooch kick that lands at the 10-15 yd line would probably have been a better option. I disagree with squib kicking......ever.

With a squib kick you're giving up a ton of field position. Most teams will have a guy go after it 10-20 yds from the kick. Had the Bills squib kicked the Chiefs would have only needed one play to get into FG range anyway. They had 3 TOs. I think the choice that was made by the Bills was the correct decision. The issue was that Frazier played soft coverage. You can't do that with 3 TOs.

Counter argument to squib kick: Bears/Falcons, 2008. The Bears scored to go up by one point with 19 seconds left in the game. Falcons got the ball with 11 seconds left, threw one play for 25 yds, kick field goal and win. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Or the poor billionaires who own baseball teams in non-large cities can open up their damn checkbook to pay to keep their players. Too many forget that the lack of spending is a choice by ownership, rather than a necessity. All 30 teams can afford Mike Trout and Gerrit Cole at their current deals, and still put together a competitive roster. They just choose not to.

There's still a luxury tax as a de facto cap. The lower spending teams raise their payroll. High spending teams stay the same.

It's really simple, Rob. Tell your owners to open up the damn checkbook if they want to be competitive. It's not the players fault billionaires want to pinch pennies.

This is just blatantly wrong. If you look at national polls, there's an overwhelming sentiment of workers being underpaid and overworked. Employers demand a monopoly on their employees time. That's why we need unions.

I know, and it sucks. It's part of why I have this love/hate relationship with my teams. It's why I go through fits of rage where I want to quit sports, and make posts like I did in the Lockout thread. The sad thing is, I don't think I'd have the same connection to another team if I fired ownership. It just wouldn't be the same.

Ownership is the biggest problem in Chicago sports. All 5 teams.

I used to think the "Fire McCaskey" people were just meatballs, but after today they're probably right. The Bears aren't cheap, but they are stupid.

I'm not sure Rick Smith is interested in doing football anymore. My understanding is that he quit to spend more time with his kids when his wife died. Could be pulling a Rick Moranis.

That's the conundrum when you have a win now team and are a QB away. If you grab a win now QB they probably aren't good enough to win with anyway, otherwise they wouldn't be available. If the Bears have Kirk Cousins in 2018 do they win anything? Probably not.

There was no obvious answer. They should have traded up and drafted one.

Also, David Montgomery is allowed to seek an extension. I don't think it's a good idea to extend a RB that has averaged under 4 yds/carry for 2/3 seasons.
