  1. Ballard is overrated as fuck. He's barely better than Pace. Hold your FO to a higher standard.
  2. I'm trying. It's really hard for me to do. I'm happy that I avoided the Hawks game last night. I'm probably not going to quit football because I watch games with my dad and it's important to us. I've wanted to quit baseball and hockey for years now and I keep going back. I know I'm probably going to come back yet again. It was a venting frustration post. Also, quite frankly I enjoy the online communities more than the sports themselves. Been doing it for so long it's hard to imagine not doing so. I know that eventually I'm going to keep watching anyway so whatever.
  3. It was actually when Eloy got hurt with a week left in ST followed by Robert 5 weeks later. Then, this offseason they're already crying poor. I've had it. They deserve to get passed by Detroit or KC this year.
  4. They have the same problem the Sox do. Good, but not good enough to win. NBA championships are the hardest to win in all sports.
  5. These last two years have broken me as a sports fan. I'm struggling to turn it off, but between the Sox, Bears and Hawks they've all given me tons of reasons to never care about sports again. I sat through the entire Sox rebuild and I don't think I've ever been as apathetic about the Sox as I was in 2021. I have pretty much given up all hope that the Sox are going to win another title with this ownership group. All I could be reminded of is my formative years as a Sox fan of 2001-2004 where the Sox had a talented team and ownership continually refused to put the team over the top. I've tried to continue watching the Hawks despite all of the things going on there but I feel gross. The Bears are the living embodiment of the peter principle. I have so many other things I enjoy. Why should I waste 3 hrs of my life that I'm not getting back every day on this stuff? The younger generation that doesn't give a fuck about sports.....they have something right. There are much better things in life. Why waste our time helping someone else chase their dream? Why don't we all just go chase ours?
  6. It's possible that Manfred could revoke his press privileges if he so chooses, and essentially blackball Rosenthal. I'd imagine if Manfred is that upset about it, he may do such a thing. Would be horrible.
  7. I started posting here shortly after the WS win in 05. I started on WSI in March 2005 and migrated here in November. For a while I posted both places but after all of the decent posters on WSI left I mostly posted here. I was 19 when I started posting at ST and am 35 now. Somehow, I've become a worse poster over the years. All is good though.
  8. The Braves were the worst team in baseball or close for a couple years. They were blatant tankers.
  9. If tanking didn't work, fans wouldn't embrace it. There are a lot of teams that were really bad, drafted highly and won championships in the last decade. Astros, Cubs, Braves, Royals.....just off the top of my head. Meanwhile, the teams like the Yankees, Sawx and Dodgers saw regular season success but not as much postseason success.
  10. Whenever you guys say DDR for Demar DeRozan I think you're talking about RAM sticks lol.
  11. I've always liked the idea of an unweighted lottery for the top 5 picks and the rest go by record. You have the same likelihood of getting a top 5 pick regardless of whether your team finishes last or just misses the playoffs. In my opinion an unweighted lottery disincentivizes tanking. The reason why you do the top 5 is that the game changing talent is usually found there.
  12. It doesn't but Peters did end up starting. And allowing a sack on the first dropback of the game.
  13. Nagy starting Peters over Jenkins.....?‍♂️
  14. Why do you keep ignoring Joe Burrow? Based on the last 18 years or so of NFL football, it's likely that Lawrence, Wilson and Fields will continue to be terrible. Obviously Trey Lance hasn't been on the field much so the jury is out on him. Mac Jones is having late season problems so who knows about him.
  15. Recent years. Mahomes. Watson. Burrow. Herbert. Jackson. Murray. My point is that the great ones are showing themselves instantly now. If Fields is Carson Wentz are you happy?
  16. Wilson started 16 games as a rookie, completed 64.9% of his passes and had a 26/10 TD/INT. That's above average. I'm still waiting for a second example of a QB who didn't look good right away and became good since Drew Brees.
  17. Cam Newton was very good for a 5 year stretch. His body couldn't hold up.
  18. Which guys weren't above average in year one as a starter since Brees besides Allen? Roethlisberger?-yep Rodgers?-yep Wilson?-yep Mahomes?-yep Newton?-yep(won an MVP so I'm adding him) Jackson?-yep Murray?-Yep So where's the developed QB outside of Allen? If you want to go with guys that are above average like Matt Ryan, Prescott and Wentz those guys had nearly immediate success too.
  19. You're not missing any, and that's my point. The great ones are announcing themselves immediately. Dak is above average and he was above average immediately.
  20. Outside of Josh Allen we're approaching 20 years since an elite QB hasn't announced themselves immediately. I'm not sure Josh Allen is an elite QB BTW, I think he's more in the category of very good. Herbert and Burrow are well on their way. BTW even though they sat I still think Mahomes and Rodgers count. The moment both got on the field they were great.
