  1. Sorry for the thread derailment guys I'm in a shitty mood today. Gotta stop posting angry.
  2. I just think they suck and they'll never win anything beyond an ALC title with this group, if they even win another one. Every major piece outside of Robert(so far) and Anderson is a disappointment.
  3. No, not doing that again. I was more excited for Sox baseball 2 years ago than I am today. Pretty apathetic actually. I'd have been posting a lot more since being allowed to return if I really cared.
  4. I don't think they're going to win 90 games again and they overachieved.
  5. Yeah and it's still a dogfight. I just don't think the Sox are all that good, even with a healthy Robert and Eloy. Only Robert took a step this year, and that was in limited and everyone else regressed. These seem a lot like the 2001-2004 teams moving forward, stuck in the 80s for wins, with not a lot of wiggle room financially. The Sox won a lot of games getting contributions from guys like Mercedes, Goodwin, et al. and I wouldn't count on that happening again. They probably overachieved by 5-7 games. This is an 86 win roster.
  6. But that being said, the Sox were pretty injured themselves. BTW I also think the Sox should quietly shop Eloy this winter.
  7. This might be an unpopular opinion but I think that if Cleveland stayed relatively healthy the Sox miss the playoffs.
  8. That's not how it should work, or at least it's not how it used to work before Bud Selig. The commissioner used to act in the best interest of the sport and was supposed to be impartial but now they've become a shill for ownership in all leagues except the NBA.
  9. The Twins still have a very good offense. If they can figure out their pitching, they could be a good team again. In any event, the AL Central could and should be very competitive next year, or whenever they play next.
  10. I'd like to live in a world where all 30 teams are trying to win the World Series each and every season. It's the commissioners job to choose owners that way.
  11. Use common sense. It should be expected that owners are willing to take minor losses to maximize championship windows and recoup those losses during the lean/average years. Owners should be doing everything possible to maximize championship windows.
  12. Then I never want to hear anyone else complain about Jerry's(or any other owner for that matter) budget again.
  13. They have evolved into rich people's plaything. We can agree to disagree on this. It's not worth it. If the owners aren't willing to run the team with the sole purpose of winning championships then they have no business being a sports franchise owner. The goal in sports is to win championships, not make a profit.
  14. It's still the owners fault. Sports franchises aren't supposed to be legitimate businesses but rather a hobby/toy for the ultra-wealthy. They're supposed to be happy taking a loss to win. They're not, and that's the problem in the end.
  15. People pick sides because for some it goes beyond how much the players are getting paid, it's about labor vs. capital. One side has too much power right now.
  16. Yeah, and I really hope he wants to take them to court. Put the Sr management under oath. I Went through a lot of the J&B report today in detail and Sr management either a) really threw Jim Gary under the bus, making it look like he turned rape into sexual harassment, or b) Gary is the biggest villain of them all and single handedly minimized the situation such that the Hawks FO had no idea an assault took place. The first time I read the report I read it in the lens that the actors in the Hawks org are amoral psychopaths. Today, I read it from the perspective of asking how reasonable people could fuck this up. The truth is somewhere in between.
  17. I ask everyone, before just passing judgment on people, put yourself in each person's shoes and ask how a reasonable person could possibly fuck up like they did. That's how people actually learn from what happened.
  18. Also I'm autistic, gray areas are difficult for me. I'm trying my best. I'm willing to listen to others help me through them. Continue having discussions and it helps. I have an open mind. It takes time for me to process everything in a heated discussion, and I don't know when to back off a lot.
  19. That is not a defense. I'm trying to figure out how in the fuck he could be so insensitive. It still doesn't make it right. Just because I understand why he said it doesn't make it acceptable.
  20. We're on exactly the same page. The only question I have is what the players knew and how detailed. I believe they knew something happened. I question whether or not they knew the seriousness of what happened. Where have I ever defended Toews for his comments Wednesday? I said that they were abhorrent.
