Wheeler has untapped upside. He could be the next Charlie Morton as easily as he could flop.
-
I don't think so. I think he's on his way to DH/1B vs RHP. They're going to bring in a cheap RHH that kills lefties to platoon with him. He can also emergency catch if needed. The Sox need LH power and OBP. They'd be morons to not give him a look. They need to have a contingency plan in case he sucks. I say this as someone who isn't a fan of Collins. As long as he can make enough contact vs RHP and hit enough HRs, he should be a valuable DH. We know he has a great eye. Collins is going to DH vs RHP and McCann vs LHP. It's not that hard really.

On Twitter Clinton Cole said that he expects the Sox to have Wheeler done by Thanksgiving.

How I'd line em up: Robert Moncada Jimenez Abreu Grandal Castellanos/Puig/Other RF Anderson Collins/McCann Madrigal
-
Switch Anderson and Madrigal.
-
4 or 5 years/92.5M.
-
Do it now!!( where's the Schwarzenegger gif when you need it?)
-
He's been clean for 8 years. He should be fine.
-
So were Quintana and Kopech. Your point is? As long as he doesn't do it again that's fine. Look up what he was actually suspended for and get back to me.
-
Not really by modern standards. You should expect to spend 10-12M for a bargain player on the open market.

Go away buzzkillington. Anyone who posts anything negative about this particular signing should be banned.

The Bears still have some things going for them but I don't trust Pace and Nagy to fix their issues. It's not 100% bad, but that doesn't change the fact that the impact players on their defense are older and likely to decline sooner rather than later. They have to fix their issues quickly. They have 3 seasons maximum to get their shit together. If they can get Cam Newton this winter you do it. Just put your best foot forward. I wish that getting Nick Foles was possible because he'd be perfect for this offense.

Balta, I want to apologize for the way I went about disagreeing with you. That was rude and over the top. Everyone needs to be more civil here, myself included. This board has devolved into the epitome of the Screaming Lady/Hissing Cat meme.
-
This board is becoming fucking toxic. We're all supposed to be having fun here and we're all cannibalizing each other. I feel like nobody can even make a post anymore on any forum without being attacked. Those that feel optimistic get attacked, those that feel pessimistic get attacked, those that are neutral get attacked. All have valid points. Let's stop fucking eating each other and have fun. This is supposed to be fun. It's really not anymore. I feel like I'm on a political board, that's how bad it is here. Everyone is divided into cliques, and they spew vitriol at anyone who disagrees. I used to really enjoy posting here and I don't anymore.

We're not making absloute declarations, just our opinions. What's the point of discussing offseason moves then?
-
It's not even terrible for the Mets. Nimmo for Lopez makes sense for them as they have an outfield glut and are losing Wheeler. And I wouldn't trade Lopez for Mazara. That deal is awful for the Sox. That's a pretty even trade in terms of value.
-
I don't even think it would take both. Just Lopez. Nimmo's been hurt and only had 1 good year. Lopez has more team control than Nimmo. You're over valuing Nimmo and under valuing Lopez.
-
You're high. I usually agree with you, but I think Lopez could get Nimmo in a 1 for 1 deal.
-
Nimmo, probably straight up.
-
Despite Lopez's crappy year, he still had 2.3 fWAR last year. If someone believes they can get more out of him. Dunning I could see being worse than that, but I still think that Lopez holds more value than you think.
-
I think Keuchel is going to get a 2 year deal and I think they'd be ok with that. It frees up Lopez/Dunning as trade chips to fill RF.
-
Wrong. That is the definition of an elite pass rusher. One that can beat double and triple teams. I've seen the best pass rushers have a TE, T, and G on them and still pressure the passer anyway. If he can't beat double and triple teams, he's not an elite pass rusher. Sorry. The best of the best can be stopped temporarily, but they still make an impact and get theirs. Peppers was had at least a T and TE on him one every damn play and still got his. Same with other elite pass rushers. It also could be that he's so deflated by the lack of offense that his gaf meter is on idgaf anymore. We'll see next year.
-
Just my opinion, but I think the two pitchers that the Sox will get will end up being Wheeler and Keuchel. I don't like Keuchel but as a #4-5 he's ok.
-
Really, when it comes to DH, they need someone who is a good platoon partner for Collins vs. LHP and can also fill in in case Collins sucks. I think Encarnacion is a good plan at DH. I do hope they give Collins a look though. He can fill in at 1B and emergency C as well.
-
It would be one thing if Mack was still getting pressures but no sacks. He's been completely invisible for 6 weeks. One has to question if he's no longer an elite talent.
