HRs are just a fact of life as a pitcher these days. You just have to give them up with nobody on base.

Look at his Fly Ball % and that explains his xFIP. xFIP doesn't take into account quality of contact and that could be where the huge disconnect comes from.

I'd much rather be beating the Twins, but we all know that wouldn't happen. There better not be any Twins voodoo shit going on next year. I had enough of that in the 2000s.

How many more does he have than Moncada? Yoan has had like 8 or something in the last week.

Wow. I'm surprised given his FIP and xFIP. I can't believe it. I look at the FIPs, xFIPs and K/9 around him and I'm baffled. One of these things is not like the other; one of these things does not belong.

It doesn't even have to be Quantitative, as long as it's backed by solid evidence of success. If a lot of managers in your industry are doing something and it has worked well for a long period of time, why wouldn't you find out as much as you can and do it too?

Javy was good more often and when he was bad it was more of the 4-6 run variety instead of the 7+ with Lopez. Lopez is a more extreme version of Vazquez. The weird thing about Vazquez is that he'd be cruising through 4-5 innings and then all of the sudden couldn't get anyone out.

The other option is the Washington/Cousins approach, where you give a guy 6-7 years. I'm really in favor of that. Cousins was a bit different because he was a 4th rounder. But you can pick up the 5th year option and then franchise a guy without crippling your cap long-term. I'd rather pay an above average QB 1 year under the franchise tag than sign him long-term

Javier Vazquez. He did it within starts.

If he lets anyone on base, pull him. If Lindor was leading off it would be a different story. I'd say pull him on that case.

Is Lindor due up?

Lopez is incredibly frustrating this year. You have starts like today and starts like his last one, where he gets completely shellacked. He's wildly inconsistent. One of the things I noticed about him today is he's changing speeds on his breaking balls. Maybe that's enough.

Lopez can be a decent pitcher if he stays on top of his breaking stuff. He doesn't do it enough. Like one start out of 5.

Why is saying that the percentage of the cap that tier 2 and 3 QBs make is ridiculous, somehow a hot take? At current prices, only those on HOF trajectories are worth keeping. If the prices for ok to good come down, it's fine to keep those guys. But a QB shouldn't get $30M annually and $100M guaranteed just because of the position he plays. Ask yourself what you'd pay a guy with comparable skill set at WR, CB, LT, DE, etc, then add 10% for being a QB. That's more reasonable. You should have to cut, trade or let walk 1/4 of your team just to keep a QB around, if they can't withstand that hit due to the QB being great. The problem isn't keeping the QB, it's how punitive it is to the remainder of the team. With the way things are right now, the Washington/Cousins Approach is the best MO. Give your guy 6-7 seasons to see what he is, and if he isn't good enough let him go. I just think it's dumb to lock up a QB that isn't on a HOF trajectory long-term. It would be different if it wasn't so punitive.

I've been out of work for a couple years now, but I've been doing Uber Eats to make a few bucks in the meantime. Part of my issue is that I really don't know where to go from here. Don't want to do software QA anymore.

Nice break for Moncada. Lindor lost a popup in the sun.

It's not any different from what it is right now. The only difference is that teams win a few more games. What good does that do? It takes a historic defense to win without a franchise level QB. Idk how the Eagles won that game, but they're an extreme outlier.

At this point, I really don't care about career advancement, it's all about survival. I just want to get in somewhere and keep a job. That's all. I used to, but I never realized how much of a PITA I can be so I really don't expect it anymore.

It isn't that, it's more that tier 2 and 3 QBs should move around a ton. They should be recycled between teams while they're finding a real QB. Something needs to change because re-signing an average or above average QB is too damn cap punitive.

I'm of the opinion that if you have to think one millisecond about your QB position you don't have one and should be looking for an upgrade. You just know.
