That doesn't help enough. I think anything before the ASB should count. Instead of gaining the extra year on the back end it should be on the front end. But, knowing the Sox they'd hold them down until next July. There should be some sort of grievance system created so that a player doesn't spend an extra season in the minors if they don't have to. It should be based on the combination of age, level, and performance. If someone is tearing up AA or AAA they should have some way to get them to the majors. There should be some rule that once a player reaches AAA if they are performing at a certain level they have to be called up. Something like a 140 wRC+ or something like that forces a callup, based on age, where a player is on prospect lists, etc.

The Astros should be, they play in one of the most populous metro areas in Baseball. Houston is now the 4th most populous city in the US, after NYC, LA, and Chicago. It wouldn't shock me if they pass Chicago for #3 in the 2020 census.

Margalus was on Hit and Run Sunday making the argument that this has been a horrible year for the rebuild.....if this year was horrible what did that make 2018, Jim? Those guys are insufferable eeyores, and that's coming from me who I'd like to say is cautiously optimistic, but reserves some room for deserved skepticism.

I don't know if it's enough. You look at the division leaders in the AL and they have no holes in their lineup at the very least. The Astros don't have a hole on their entire roster. It's going to be hard. I'm not completely down on the rebuild. I'm going to hope for the best. But I'm to the point that I'm not counting on even one major FA signing or playoff appearance.

Yeah, at this point I'm going to be shocked if they do anything with this current group of players. They have some nice pieces, but it just seems like they'll only have enough to get to the 78 to 85 win range. If you look at run differential they're closer to the bottom feeders than they are to everyone else.

No I think the Cubs have had more success than the Sox and Phillies, even if it didn't result in championships. IIRC the Cubs won 5 pennants from 1929-1945 but lost every one of those WS. Most of them to the Yankees.

Every time Fulmer looks like he might be figuring it out, he goes and gives up a crooked number. I'd rather just DFA him than bring him to ST in 2020. He won't do anything here.

Their approach at the plate and on the mound is antiquated and I blame coaching. Capra sucks and gives away outs at the plate. Renteria as about as bad of an in-game tactician as I've ever seen. Only Bevington takes the cake. That being said, Eloy has struggled this year but I think a big part of it is being in and out of the lineup with injuries.

I wouldn't mind them signing both Dickerson and Puig or trading for Polanco and signing Puig. Polanco should be pretty cheap as he's missed most of this season and last to injury. Polanco might even be non-tendered. Dickerson/Polanco and Jimenez can rotate between LF/DH.

Omg Capra sucks. Moncada is really fast and he was dead to rights on that one.
