  1. It's required by law though. You're saying it's ok for corporations to break the law and steal wages from their employees. Wow. This world is really fucked up. How come it's ok for your boss to steal your wages but if I walk into a store and rip something off I go to jail? It's basically the same thing.
  2. I believe that it is insanity that people accept this type of behavior from their employers.
  3. I disagree. I think having a job is a human right.
  4. If you're in fear of losing your job for your speech that is a sophisticated form of thought control. Being unemployed long-term is almost the equivalent of being incarcerated. You can't do anything without money. At least in jail you have a roof over your head and 3 meals per day.
  5. I don't agree with that in principle. I know what at will employment is. You should be allowed to leave, but it should be incredibly difficult for your employer to terminate you. I don't think that your boss should be able to fire you just because they don't like you. If you're bad at your job and there's plenty of documented evidence that's a different story.
  6. I think that is inherently unethical and wrong. It should be illegal and grounds for a wrongful termination lawsuit.
  7. I highly disagree with the second paragraph. It's a way of putting social pressure on the company to be more ethical or improve their practices. You may like working there but there's a few things that bother you. You've brought it up to management with no response. Too many people seem to accept that employment is a one way street. I don't think so. When people fuck up they need to be held accountable.
  8. Point #2 is freedom of speech my friend. You shouldn't be in fear of retaliation for telling the truth.
  9. Nope, I don't believe corporate America eis evil because of solely my experiences and others. There is plenty of evidence that it is true. I think that commerce has a purpose, but they shouldn't get carte blanche to do whatever the fuck they please. Did you hear about the Wells Fargo thing from a few months ago? Do you know how common wage theft is? I've looked into this stuff and protect myself. According to law, regardless of whether you're on salary or hourly wages, you should be paid overtime for any hours you work over 40 per week. Companies ask people on salary to work 50-60 hrs regularly and don't compensate them for their time. I want people to be held accountable for this shit. My college age sister just worked 6 weeks in Boston, was told she was going to get paid at the conclusion of the job, and 50 people who worked this job didn't get paid. Not only that, the company disappeared into thin air and nobody responds to emails, and just went into ghost mode. No way of contacting them. What are people supposed to do?
  10. I'm not bringing up "my shit" I have my opinions about the employer/employee relationship and I'd have those thoughts regardless of my personal experiences. My personal experiences have been few and far between, so they really don't matter. Everything that shapes my opinion on the matter comes from other people's experiences. Just because you people accept what's going on, doesn't mean that it's ok or acceptable. I truly believe that a company has a larger societal obligation than solely to generate as much profit as possible. If you disagree that's fine, but you're not changing my mind anytime soon and I'd prefer not to re-litigate it. I take that perspective into these discussions.
  11. This has nothing to do with my personal stuff. Jeez I was referring to the situation here. Why the fuck do all of you guys think I'm bringing up my personal shit here? This is an educated guess on to what I think happened here. Last week when we were talking Analytics you guys thought the same thing. This had nothing to do with that.
  12. It hasn't mattered which side he's been hitting from lately. His BA has dropped 12 points in the last week. He's 2 for his last 20(looked it up) with 12K, including the 2 AB tonight.
  13. They'd have to lose all 6 games vs the Angels and Indians and even then it's going to be hard.
  14. I'm resigned to this. If they win anything before then it will be because the talent they have assembled was just that good.
  15. It shouldn't matter if they're right, but that's not how it works in the real world. Sometimes you have to be a dick to get your point across and people have too fragile of an ego to ever admit that they are wrong. Nothing actually works like it's supposed to. People would rather fire a valuable employee than admit that they are wrong. Sad.
  16. That makes sense actually that if they threw that out earlier that they gave the design to JR in earlier years.
  17. I thought they gave JR two designs, one was the current stadium at 35th and Shields and the other was what would later become Camden Yards in the South Loop.
  18. Per Reports, Jay is having season ending surgery.
  19. That one was awful too, but he couldn't have done it alone. The blame isn't solely on JR though he was a major player.
  20. Those 3 things you mentioned are the top 3 worst decisions that Reinsdorf has made, #4 is not building the Camden Yards design in the South Loop, instead keeping the Sox at 35th and Shields. Just imagine the Sox playing in the South Loop in Camden Yards. Entirely different ballgame. It could have changed the entire course of the 90s and early 00s. They could have potentially had the funds to put a few of those teams over the top.
