Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
I think if the Phillies offered 10/350 and the Sox offered 10/400 he'd choose the Phillies. At 10/425 I think that is enough to choose the Sox, and even then I'm not 100% sure. It might take the $440 that you talked about to get to that point. If Boras got the Phillies to $375 I think that would be enough to choose them, unless the Sox were approaching $475 at that point. I think the Sox have to beat the next best by at least $75M to get them to sign.

OK this team is really fucking bad and I'll be surprised if Stan makes it through the ASB. McCub should go with him, but somehow that guy gets to keep his job.

Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
Yes, I've thought this through and I actually think that. Again, it isn't that I think the Sox don't want to play ball, I just think that the player(whether Machado or Harper) would rather choose a much more favorable situation like the Braves Phillies, Yankees, or even the Cardinals over the Sox. The Sox offer would have to blow the other offers out of the water Texas-A Rod style to even get a seat at the table, IMO. They'll listen to the Sox, but I doubt either player takes them seriously. Even if their market is limited, I just think they'd rather win than be here, and the Sox may play in Chicago but they might as well be playing in Indianapolis rather than Chicago. Their market size is closer to Cleveland or the Twins than the Cubs. I just refuse to get my hopes up one bit, and would rather be pleasantly surprised if they land one of them.

What incentive do they have to come here when Harper could go to the Phillies and Machado to the Yankees? They get to win now and don't have to wait, and when you're talking about the largest contract in the history of baseball an extra $25M is marginal at that point. IMO, if others are offering $350M the Sox would have to offer $425M just to get their attention, and probably $25-50M more than that to actually get them to sign. At that point, it is not worth it. It would take an A-Rod level overpayment to get them to sign here. It took a $60M overpayment in 2000 for A-Rod to sign with the Rangers, it would probably take $100-125M to pull that off in 2019.

Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you think that. The Sox are a longshot for either, so expect neither and be pleasantly surprised if they get one. That is my attitude. The best way I'd describe the Sox chances to land one is "non-zero" if you know what that means. (it means the odds aren't zero, but somewhere in between getting struck by lightning and winning a $1.6 Billion Powerball/Mega Millions Jackpot)

Moncada hopes to stay at 2b
I want my team to win. Studies have shown this approach leads to more wins. If your team loses more games, but is "more entertaining" while doing it is it really worth it? Wins>everything when it comes to putting butts in seats, unless you're the Cubs.

Moncada hopes to stay at 2b
I think people put waaay too much emphasis on strikeouts. They're just another out. People should put emphasis on making fewer outs, however they may accomplish it. Moncada walks a decent amount, has shown he can hit at every level in the minors despite the Ks. Give him time, and he should be just fine. I'd rather have Moncada than Juan Pierre 7 days of the week including twice on Sunday. Making fewer outs leads to fewer balls in play and more strikeouts. It isn't rocket science people. I know that it makes for a more boring game to some of you, but I like it just fine.

Baseball America Top 10 Prospects
Think about what Moncada would look like if he hit .165 and had shattered the strikeout record by 50-75 K and you have Collins.

I can't help but think he's going to come up here and get destroyed a la 2011 Adam Dunn or 2018 Chris Davis.

Baseball America Top 10 Prospects
I'd move Collins to the bottom, with everyone else sliding up a spot. There are massive questions about Collins' hit tool and his ability to stay at catcher. If he can't stay at C, he's a non-prospect IMO. I might be harsh on Collins, but I hate his hit tool to the point that I question him being a prospect at all if he can't stay at C. I honestly have no clue how he stays on any lists. Most are sure he can't stick at C so Idk why he's even making T10 lists, let alone T30 lists. I get that he has LTP and walks a lot but it doesn't matter if he can't put the bat on ball. He seems to have a similar offensive profile as Moncada other than speed, and we've seen Moncada's struggles, and Moncada hit MUCH better at all minor league levels than Collins has.

In July, Sox had deal in place to send A. Garcia to Houston for Martes
Depends on if you think Avi is anything or not. I think he sucks and is going to get non-tendered, so I would have rather received something in return rather than nothing.

That it didn't happen. I think even with Martes missing the 2019 season with TJS, before he was called up he was a top 30 prospect in baseball. I would take that straight up for Avi 7 days of the week including twice on Sunday. I don't want to be reminded that it fell through, as the fact that it fell through stings.

Parkey needs to be cut immediately following this game. Kicking could end up costing them this year. Lions keep having life. They have to score TDs, otherwise they're letting them hang around too long. This feels eerily like the Dolphins game.

I wish that this thread would die and be buried so I don't have to be reminded that this didn't happen anymore.

Luis Robert tearing it up in the AFL
No, that isn't what I meant at all. Eloy is #3, Senzel is right behind him at #4. Therefore, their value is very similar. I meant in a hypothetical trade, would you trade Eloy to another team for that package? For example: If Rodon and Rutherford were on another team, would you trade Eloy for them? If the answer is no, then it isn't enough to land Senzel. It is about value and nothing more. I was in no way advocating swapping Eloy and Senzel. I was using them as a value comparison.

With regard to Senzel you have to ask yourself if you'd trade Eloy for the package in return because Senzel is a top 5 prospect in the game.

Creative Trades
I bandied about a Rodon and Rutherford for Senzel deal earlier in the offseason, but Senzel is going to play LF for the Reds and I doubt he's going anywhere.
