Parker looks like he's never played defense in his life. Fouls like the one Harden just got makes the NBA borderline infuriating and unwatchable. It makes Parker's comments defensible. -

Dear FO: Harper VS Machado, Soxtalk Will Help You Decide
Jack Parkman replied to Jerksticks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ok, which one of you is the guy with the Machado White Sox sign at the AFL All Star Game. LOL I'd upload the picture I took of it but the site says the file is too big. -
No shit. That combined with the Bears blowing a 20 point lead vs. GB threw me off the rails for a while. Both happening within 48 hours was a kick in the balls and then as soon as you could stand up you got kicked in the twins again.
-
Yeah he had TJS in June. He'd be one of those 2 year deals that you know isn't happening until 2020.
-
Not to mention they could use their outfield surplus as trade chips. If they sign Harper, Anyone other than Basabe, Gonzalez and Robert are fair game as trade chips, but at the same time they become less valuable from the opposing team's perspective because they're blocked, unless you're willing to move Eloy to DH.

No they'll play Machado at 3B. Torres at SS, Andujar at 1B, and go find a 2B. -
You do know that Richards isn't pitching in 2019, right?

I don't buy that for a minute. The only team that prints more money than the Cubs in baseball is the jankees. I think there were some rough guesstimate tables out there that claimed that the Cubs may have been the most profitable team in baseball from 2015-17. If the Sox have to go up against the Cubs and jankees for either or both of them, the chances immediately drop to virtually zero. -

It makes a ton of sense. Andujar is a butcher at 3rd, and Gregorius is missing most of 2019, so it is doubtful he's going to get tendered a contract. They have openings at both SS and 3B. Also, they dgaf about having 2-3 massive contracts at once, as long as they're winning. I've believed Machado was their plan A the entire time, and if the jankees are after Machado, you can kiss him goodbye. He'll be signing there. -
White Sox Hiring for Analytics Department

I had to do a programming project for a job I was applying for today. You know, it really helps if you know the language and the commands that are involved with that language. If you don't know those things, you have no chance. That's what I ran into. After attempting this project, I'm going to have to wait until the next time they have an opening here, because I just don't know as much as I thought I did. Some languages have structure and commands that you absolutely have to know immediately, otherwise you can't do the job. I learned that lesson the hard way. I have learned that if they list a group of languages, you have to know the ins and outs immediately, otherwise you're just not qualified. -

Dierkes is from Chicago and is a Cub fan. One should not be surprised about that. My cousin hung out with the guy a couple times before he started that website.

We need to see more of August Giolito, both stuff wise and control wise, otherwise he's toast. That junque he was throwing up there vs. Boston was disgusting. If August didn't happen, I'd be giving him about 1/2 season before writing him off. As of right now he's on a season to season thing. I have to see more of both the stuff and control from August or it is move on time.

Positives: 1) I agree with others that you really can't complain about the value the Sox got in return for the players they sold. They did well in their trades. Unfortunately, this is the only major positive so far. Concerns: 1) Player development I can't help but think that they are screwing this up with their position players. Moncada's lack of readiness/rush job to the bigs is maddening. None of the players that the Sox called up in 2017 should have been. Zero. Moncada should have been in the minors until 4/15 at the earliest, and I wouldn't have called him up until Memorial Day. Giolito obviously needed to work on his mechanics, and because options are an issue with him, I would have been fine with both he and Lopez breaking camp with the team. I am pissed to this day that Moncada was up before Memorial Day 2018. 2) Drafting Fulmer, Collins, and Burger don't look like good picks right now at all. Jury is out on Madrigal, but he has to be able to hit a lot of 2B and 3B with his lack of power. I don't like it at all currently. You don't really know what Burdi is, but hearing that he lost significant velocity after TJS is no bueno, because that usually doesn't happen. Dude lost 4-6 mph off his heater. (he's been sitting at 94) He might still have good enough secondary pitches to get by with that loss, but his best secondary was his change and usually the velo drop only happens with the fastball, and not the change too. Velocity separation could be an issue. By all means, if he doesn't get that high-90s heater back, he becomes a decent relief prospect and not a high end closer one anymore. 3. Injuries They are something that happens, and you can't really blame anyone for that. It sucks, and it is what it is. 4) Lack of "buy low, sell high" rental moves in FA. There is never enough talent in your system. They should be doing this each year, spending money to plug holes and acquiring talent at the deadline. You never know what you will get. All in all, I waver between cautiously optimistic and chicken little on the rebuild. 2019 will go a long way to determining what type of team the Sox will have. I have always said, and will continue to say that no matter what Eloy does, unless another prospect surprises and becomes a superstar, this rebuild hinges 100% on Moncada becoming a superstar. Eloy alone isn't enough. Moncada must be a huge offensive contributor, otherwise they won't have enough offense. If this works out, it seems it is going to be a long process in player development, and the window will be about 2-3 years at most. If it is going to take any track similar to another championship team's rebuilds, think the Royals. I know a lot of people don't want to hear that, but that is my opinion and belief.

Mitch is young. It is way to early to say he's Bortles. I think Mitch is better than Bortles already. -
This is exactly what I meant when I said Ozzie burned the bridge and pissed on the ashes. Bravo. When I said I'd like Ozzie back, I meant that I'd like a manager with his qualities, not necessarily him. And for god sakes no bunting. It is probably a ridiculous take, but bunting is almost always a borderline fireable offense. You don't give away outs under the overwhelming majority of circumstances.

The other thing is that I don't necessarily like software development, I'd much rather do something else. I don't hate it either, I find it "meh" . The issue is I don't have the soft skills to do anything else, lol. Pigeonholed, I am. Hmmm Yes. /yoda. I'd only do it because it pays the bills and nothing more, and personal and financial independence is a huge goal of mine. It is a huge catch 22.

This is what I was expecting out of WCJ. I guess he needed a few games to get comfortable. -
I understand that is how it works for Neurotypicals(non-autistic) people but I am absolutely petrified of ending up in the same spot with 2 BS degrees, 60K in debt and still working part time in software QA. Getting the degree opens up options for me in specialized programs like those with Microsoft and SAP, but outside of those the market for autistics is beyond awful. The overwhelming majority of us who don't have degrees in computer science or software engineering are kind of screwed. We don't have the soft skills that most companies are looking for, and we probably will never have them. If everyone who likes math and science, and was gifted/ on the spectrum started to go solely into CS/SE then it would flood the market, and those jobs would be even harder to come by.

What I'm concerned about is that Yes, Money talks but when you get in the $250-350 M range does an extra 10-15 M outweigh the other factors? I'd think the Sox would have to blow the competition away to get their attention.

I know, C++/C# is the master language. I used to program rocket science on it, LOL.
